Word of warning to folks: If someone comes to your home trying to sell you security systems, just say you have one already even if you don't have one. Don't tell them you live alone either. Security salesman door-to-door is a great way for criminals to case a home and figure out which are easier targets. I'm amazed the person in story 3 was smart enough to recognize a later trap, yet not realize what likely made them be targeted.

Guy had to have the worst survival instincts ever 😂 first giving all that info to the pushy salesman, then yelling through the door at 11pm that he’s not interested (no salesman is knocking on you door at this time). Also just the fact he doesn’t have a gun. Then he went and blatantly looked through the back window with someone obviously trying to break in, if those dudes had weapons it would’ve been a very bad day if not the last day for this dude

I had a guy come to the door saying he worked for our security company and he needed to replace our main keypad inside. I told him no he'd have to have the office call to set a time because I was on my way out(I wasn't). He had a attitude but left and I never got a call🤨 When I was married my husband didn't allow ANY repairmen or even our landlord in the house if I was alone. I really appreciate it now..

The reason why the last 2 stories didn’t get bad is because they both were not intimidated by cops. You should always know your rights and no matter how uncomfortable it may feel there is no harm in calling the actual police to verify information. BTW, when it comes to driving and you are pulled over you legally don’t have to roll your windows all the way down, just enough to hear each other and pass your paperwork and that only requires a few inches at most. That said; legally if you are pulled over by actual cops and they ask you to get out of the car you have to, that’s why there’s no harm in calling 911, or the police agency the cop is with. Many cops have been locked up for being serial rapists/murders and committed their crimes on duty/with their patrol car so even if it’s a real cop calling their station and asking/telling them who pulled you over can protect you as well.

Little tip: if someone knocks on your door claiming to be police, ALWAYS ask for their name, badge #, and what department they're with. If they give you a department name, search engine the department and ask the dispatch if they had sent an officer to your home for whatever the supposed officer said they were there for.

@alexanderjefferies7740, yes, I heard something like that before. A couple police officers came to my place of work years ago to give us safety tips if we are ever in a situation like that. One of the things they mentioned was that burglars usually work during the day when we are most likely at work and no one is home, while at night, someone trying to break in is more likely after you!! Now that I think of it, all of Ted Bundy’s break ins occurred late at night, when they were sleeping.

⁠About locked doors. When I was selling Oxycodon and other pharmaceuticals back awhile (I really changed my ways) people knew I always got a stash of pills and lean and got amount of cash and watches etc. I felt pretty untouchable in my apartment and my beretta. This was a few years ago in Germany. One night I heard a loud commotion and a sound of clearly more then 7-8 people aggressively made their way into the apartment floor and were trying to kick the door down at 3AM on a Sunday night eventhough I was screaming at them , let them hear my gun clicking and shouting that I’m going to shoot once the door was kicked down. Most frightened I ever was. For some reason an older lady had the balls to come out of her apartment who really liked me and shouted at them that the police is coming and that they should get the hell out of the house complex. They were kicking and beating the locked door for 15 minutes at this point and 1-2 minutes later it would have been kicked down at the latest and my life would have been over with.

That last story holds the phrase, "when you have seconds, the police are minutes away," true.

The guy in the last story was very naive. If a stranger shows up at your door out of nowhere selling security systems, you lie and say you already have one. That’s a trick question to see if your an easy target. And you never confirm that you live alone or are alone at that moment.

well… now he knows that for next time. that’s why these stories are more than entertainment, but they’re guides as well. if the sales guy didn’t have a certain “look” or demeanor to the storyteller, he clearly didn’t feel like he had a reason to lie about having a security system. I’d say he’s more naive for giving the guy his number (because say this salesperson was legit- now your phone is getting blown up with deals and discounts everyday). him deciding to not answer the door past 10p, asking the “cop” to make his badge visible, not falling for the phony 911 call, and calling the actual 911 were all GREAT choices to make. give the guy some credit.

And the security system question, even if I didn't have one (when I get my own place, I'm definitely getting one), I'd say "I've got one and I'm not interested in a different one". Police don't always use a siren. I was pulled over once, the cop only had his flashing-lights. Granted, it was for the (rather silly) reason that the license-plate cover was dirty (he couldn't read my entire plate, apparently). But no siren,.

Ive never understood the whole "threaten them with a gun even though you dont have one" thing. The way I grew up is that you never let someone know you have a gun because that allows them to take a step back and plan accordingly. Bringing more people, and more guns. Also in my experience (this is purely anecdotal) the people who openly talk about what they have on them are usually bluffing. Edit: I just finished the story i was referring to and yeah, the criminals definitely called their bluff about the gun 😂

So much this! I mean also, guns are so rarely an actual deterrent. If someone is planning a break in or is intending to harm someone at home, they usually aren't doing it on the fly. They're prepared and expectant of if someone is legitimately defenseless. So all the stories that are like "I had a gun so it was fine" never make sense to me and honestly feel like really lazy writing or if its an internet story screams of like a 13 year old boy making up a story to seem like a badass.

@@PatchrickPlayer1 guns are a huge deterrent and burglars almost always avoid houses they know have guns. its basic common sense. burglars are human, if you where planning to rob someone, you would avoid the guy with a gun and target someone without one. even if you have one and they have one the chances of getting shot are high, verses someone without a gun. are you dumb or just ignorant. ofc a weapon is a deterrent, this is real life not a fucking movie

A lot of predators try to pretend or be authority figures. They might be parents or even step-parents. They could even pretend to be police officers, relatives or friends of your parents. Some don’t even try to hide it. People tried to kidnap me twice in my childhood. One pretended to know me but i didn’t know her and got my brother. And one tried to say she had puppies or whatever.

The guy in that first story...oh my god. Why would you go outside? You have no idea how many people there were nor if any were waiting by the door with their own weapons. You have cover, concealment, and home field advantage indoors.

When I lived in Nevada I remember hearing about an unknown killer who was pretending to be a cop on remote stretches of highway. He pulled a few people over and shot them. As far as I know, nobody was ever caught and they may still even be active.

@@user-tp9hk8ox8s Because there had been reports from other drivers about a strange car with a red light attempting to pull them over, but they were smart enough not to stop and eventually whoever was chasing them gave up. After finding some people dead on the side of the highway who had been shot in their cars, the cops put two and two together.

If anyone ever asks you if you are alone say no!!! It’s ridiculous that people say yes to these things. And if anyone tries to sell you anything or ask you anything personal do not answer anything. You can’t trust a lot of people.

3 things I learned from watching Mr.Nightmare for 8+years. 1- Always triple check locks before going to bed. 2- Always carry something for protection like knife or taser at minimum. 3- always travel in pairs and never leave the group cause of a cutie you chatted with.

Never tell anyone you live alone. If at all possible never travel at night. If you feel uncomfortable when someone knocks on your door call 911 immediately. Do not tell the person outside your house that you're calling the police. Just be as quiet as possible, make the call and stay out of view.

In my experience the only thing a cop hates more than someone that knows their rights is a person that won’t let the cops bully them and do whatever they want. They seem to think having a badge gives them a license to do whatever they want and they know most likely they’re gonna get away with whatever they do with at most a slap on the wrist. Idk how many times I’ve asked y was I pulled over and they just say we’ll tell u later so one time I got sick of it and said “oh so that means you’re gonna pull me out and search me and my car illegally btw and hope to find something and say that’s y u pulled me over as if u somehow just knew whatever it was was there and if u don’t find anything you’re gonna tell me I’m in luck and you’re gonna let me go even though u have no reason to hold me and u never even had a reason to stop me in the first place” him and his partner just looked at each other and I was like yea this isn’t the first time I’ve been through this and they’re like get out of here so I just drove away like yep I know the drill. Basically a shake down hoping I was carrying so they could make an arrest

Where to begin? First, you really should have stayed in school. Proper grammar and syntax are crucial to successful and intelligent written communication. Second, you are ridiculously full of crap. Third, the only thing police hate more than stupid people who don't know their rights, are even dumber people who THINK they know their rights. Granted, the hours of laughter you all provide is appreciated. Fourth, if you stop riding around dressed like a hoodrat, committing traffic violations, and committing crimes then you won't have to worry about the apparent myriad traffic stops you've been party to. The pungent odor of marijuana or meth pouring out of your car is going to get you pulled over and searched every time. Finally, maybe educate yourself on the rights you THINK you understand. You are woefully under-equipped to make the argument you are trying to make. Don't mistake your ignorance, jealousy, and bigotry for substantitive facts. And don't project your ineptitude and mediocrity onto the hard-working, honorable men and women of law enforcement. You may return to your mommy's basement now. I'm sure your video games miss you.

I’ve been going back to videos all the way up to 8 years ago because I’ve been completely caught up on everything, I was so happy to open up my phone to this

So many of these stories involve people going away to cabins etc but then having some creeper in the property and having to leave .

These story’s were interesting to hear and kinda scary too, but keep me interested with your stories your really inspire me!

I hate the police. They have done nothing to me personally but cause issues. Small edit: It was to my dad, he was completely innocent and hadn’t done anything wrong.
