3 DAYS SOLO BUSHCRAFT TRIP + WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY - bread on stick, bow drill, tarp shelter, fire
I am off grid on a small peninsula near the West coast of Denmark on a 3 day bushcraft trip with my camera. Making a base camp in the woods from where I can hike to the surrounding nature is a great way of doing wildlife photography.
The camera gear itself is quite heavy itself so I decided not to bring a tent. I love wild camping and on the first night I simply slept underneath a big tree while the moon rose and I could fall to sleep to the sound of the camp fire and the ducks and geese nearby.
I hoped to get close to the deer in the area but I had no luck. A few short glimpse was all I got. I got close to a group of swans and I was lucky to get a few good photos of these beautiful birds.
For me this is the very best kind of nature photography. Being alone in nature for a period of time without high expectations - just spending some days and see what happens.

I'm working on a video about how I manage to power up all of my batteries on longer trips and expeditions using power banks and solar panels. Let me know if you have any questions you would like me to include in that video 👍

Could you include the price of such panels and which one you recommend?

When we are gone for long periods of time, I need to power up 2-4 camera batteries per day. I would like to know many many watts solar panels would need to put out, to accomplish that. Also what kind of power bank is good for this. I have a two camera battery charger that is usb, so a power bank, would probably need to be able to run that for quite a while. We're depending on the generator now and neither my husband or I like the noise, plus it's not that efficient for charging camera batteries. Thank you for the information you provide, I could google but I don't know if I'd get practical information!

Hey Morten. Maybe not that video, but I'd love to know how to safely keep camera equipment in a tent during very cold weather whilst avoiding condensation build up

Hi Morten. What boots do you wear?
8.42 what kind of Ninja move is that!? Is that something everyone can do? Have I been lacing boots wrong my entire life? Impressive. If that took 60 takes, don't tell me. I need to believe it was one. As always, great video.

It's a classic boot tying techinique. The only thing he does wrong is not tie the laces in a square knot so they won't come undone. Old firefighter trick. Looks like a wonderful trip.

Half an hour of serenity in a crazy world... You are good for the soul, my friend 😀👍👍
This is how big forest fires start. It is incredible that people put at risk the forest and environmental wealth by a simple recreational video
As I sit nursing a blown out knee, knowing it will be at least June before I can head out hiking with the camera again, it is a comfort to sit and be a part of your peaceful natural adventure. No words needed. Just being.
That first sip of coffee in the morning, is the best.
Who says narration is essential? Simply beautiful......
Proof that you can make a video about photography without running off at the lip non-stop.
One of my favorite episodes...:)
23:50 Most of the people really don't care once they get the picture they want about how wildlife will feel, beautiful gesture to see you leaving quietly, not disturbing them
I love camping and photography and you inspired me my friend, thanks
Love these videos Morten. I would love to just get lost in your world for 3 days.
I have grown this habit of playing Mortem Hilmer videos whenever I want to relax. Brew a cup of coffee, and watch his videos ... mostly this kind and where he goes for projects to short different animals... can spend hours doing that. Thanks Mortem for such exceptional work.
A 30 min Morten video accompanied by a cup of tea, there is no better way to spend a Sunday evening :) Sometimes I wish they were even an hour long ;)

Hi Pica Pica. Very happy to find you here. Happy too that I'm recognising the Black Hatted Great T at 19:29 😃 I'm catching up with past superb Morten's videos.
I bet my blood pressure is about 10 points lower after watching this. Thank you!
That is what my camping trips are for, photography and nature. I don"t go camping unless there are photos nearby. Like all of us likely Morten, I would love to go on a photo excursion with you. It no fun following someone around unless you both have camera's. Thank you sir.
Lovely work I wish to be live some days like you
I don't know how much did it take to become so at ease and trusty with the natural environment, but in a very respectful way. That is what I admire most in your videos. Thank you for sharing these moments.
Love the no talking adds atmosphere . Love Erik Normark too . Thanks Morten .
SUPER!
I really enjoy these videos because when people are out with their camera, there usually is no talking. Its a side of photography people dont see, Thank you Morten!
the most peaceful video so far :)
Thank you! This is beyond motivational. Whilst watching I kept thinking of places around me that I wanted hike to and spent time at.
This is the perfect way to live
Man! Every time watching your video makes me want to quit my job right away and grab my camera, jump into some no-man's lands and live in the woods or the snow for the rest of my life, just enjoy the peace of nature...
I see that jumper in most of your videos. I want one!

Morten, your cinematography and narration is the best I've seen on KZread for this genre. You figured out how to grab the hearts and souls of people who crave wild and not let go. I tip my hat your way.
Just great Morten, just great...I love you video, it is so inspired.
I liked the video after seeing all the shots you set up to walk through the frame looking like you hadn't just set up the shot. I love that, it immerses the viewer more into the feeling that your time in the woods gave you. Keep up the great work!
Too many people can't grasp the serenity and peace of a place such as that.
I could almost smell the smoke of the campfire! Stars, woods, water, birds - life is good. Thank you, Morten, for sharing.
I can watch this for days...
Great video, love the calm peaceful feel it has.
Trully inspiring, Thank you for sharing.
One of the best bushcraft and wildlife video what I have seen. Thanks, Morten.

Great video Morten - Relaxing to watch!
Great video like always Morten. I love the peace and serenity, and love the photo at 23:31

Beautiful. Peaceful.
it's the fourth time in few hours i watch this. I'm completely hypnotized by all this peaceful beauty. Thank you Morten!
Awesome place and nature god bless you!🇧🇷♥️
I love this video. Very relaxing. I felt like I was there. Thanks.
I like your video. Don't waste so much energy sawing small logs. most dry branches break easy, use gravity and your weight. or for longer logs place across the fire until burnt through, patience. was a peacful 27 min video, thanks, I like the boot lacing too... Melbourne Australia
Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing but most of all inspiring. Thanks Morten. Doug 🇨🇦
Un video magnífico. Me ha transportado muchísimo muy inspirador.
Ok no talking. Thumbs up
Awesome as always. Simple, peaceful, delightful. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. Cheers my friend!
Fantastic video, great filming! Thankyou
Its amazes me how you can eat an oyster right off the sea without steaming it first. If you did that in my location you would most probably get sick. Great video btw!!
So good Morten
I liked your work also your camping style.
I also like the bird watching and the nature life. Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful country. Perfect for this kind of video.
Almost could smell the smoke from the campfire. Great video, and no distracting background music. Just the natural sounds of the outdoors.
