3 Days Chasing Big Fish! (Truck Camping)

Спорт

I love a little adventure, and this trip was every bit of an adventure. It wasn't always comfortable or relaxing, but it was always fun. I fished new places, met new people, and even caught a few fish!

A true lover of the sport, when a man will sleep in the back seat of a truck, cook his meals on the tailgate where he cuts bait and fillets his catch, you can definitely see that he ❤❤❤ fishing.

Never did it cat fishing but we stayed a week on Portsmouth island(N Core Banks) N.C. Me and my Dad slept in the back of his truck the whole week. Some other family slept in their blazer...4 of em, but it was one of the big blazers from late 70s. Ate out of coolers. Cooked over fire or camp stove. It was October but the weather was great. Last day though...woke up and it was like 35 and wind was a blowing. That was rough lol.Anyways...only way on and off the island is by ferry. We were at the north end...16 miles or so from ferry. But we caught flounder after flounder. Puppy drum, trout, sharks....a bit of everything. That was 1992...I was 17. That’s still THE best trip I’ve ever had anywhere and anytime. Great memories...miss those days tremendously

Luckily we persevered and caught a few fish. The laughs and conversation was great. Shawn and i truely had a great time fishing with you and trading stories. You're welcome on my boat with Shawn and I any time. Thanks

I truly miss those cooling lakes living in Iowa now. So many big fish in those lakes, I've had 20LBS Test popped more than once. Always would have liked to see what was on the other end, almost lost a whole reed and reel combo once at LaSalle it literally got snatched off the rocks. Fun times.

I've been watching all your videos. Got the rigs figured out and set up. Got the cast net figured out and a perfect bait spot found. I discovered and scouted over 2 dozen spots that contain ZERO catfish or deep enough water to support them. FINALLY found a nice long creek with deeper water, feeding directly into a lake that's known for big cats. Went out 3x this weekend. Walked as far as I could down the trail and worked my way back, hitting every bend, log jam, deep water spot, etc. Used cut and live bait. Stayed out last night for several hours. Literally, not one fucking bite. Ugh. I'm upset, but I'm not giving up. Your vids have me motivated. I'm gonna find the big uglies. I'm on a mission.

Winds from the east the fish bite the least and so on. My grandfather taught me that when the cows are all spread out with their heads down eating the fish will be spread out eating. If their grouped up with their heads down eating the fish will be grouped up. If the cows are all laying down turn around and go home. It's proved right more times than not. Keep your powder dry young man 💪😎 Oh and first thing you do when you get to the water is put the net in the water and pee in the lake. Two musts. Just saying.

If you're ice fishing I think your live minnows won't freeze as fast on the really cold days in a Yeti bucket. If you put it in the freezer before fishing on a warm day your minnows should stay alive longer because it keeps them cooler longer. I can't justify the cost and I ice fish a lot with live bait.

Well at least at the intake. I am a catfish guy but dude that lake was a small mouth haven! I would cast up current and rip the inline spinner as fast as I could barely a foot or so off the rocks!! Came across the video on your feed and had to take a second look, like hey I know that lake. Powerton has some huge cats in it. Ive caught a 22 1/2 pound channel catfish there, and I have seen an 80 pound flathead caught right there at the corner you were fishing. You ever come back to the peoria area fishing would be willing to show you around some lakes.

I really appreciate that man. There's some cool lakes over that way that are a ton of fun to fish. I need to get back and fish a few.
