I feel its important to note that null elemental blast requires specifically colorless mana. Colored mana can not be used to cast this.

Null Lemental Balst is gonna be fucking huge for every non-blur player in commander, it also costs only 1 colorless mana, furthermore it's an uncommon, so it's fonna be probably present in every pre-release deck.

This will not be in every prerelease deck. It's a sideboard card at best, and sideboard cards are awful in commander.

@@Dracomandriuthus Most good commanders are multicolored. A one mana spell that says “destroy target commander or counter target commander spell” is probably good enough for many decks, even without considering the 99.

Can't wait to see null elemental blast to be in every sideboard (or mainboard) of every affinity/artifact deck in modern and possibly every colorless deck in commander.

Considering the popularity of colorless fast mana, talismans, pain pands, and random utility lands in commander I'd expect to see it in tons of decks

Null e blast is a sideboard card we can plan to see for years

Flare of Denial seems like it would be very good combo protection in decks that are playing Narcomoeba.

Powerful but balanced. Good work Wizards.

Null elemental blast might just give decks a way to pop multi color enchantments, planeswalkers and other hard to deal with permenents. And while this maybe a jank combo, can see Painter's Servant giving decks an extra color just to turn on this card.

I doubt it, it's gonna need a little more than an arguably better force of negation. The card is good and will probably see play in merfolk, but we pray for more help from the rest of the set lest we must wait for the return to Lorwyn.

@@ryanmcfarland3788 A lot of the lands now produce colorless as well as colored for a price. Then the deserts are now in and it’s easy to get colorless. 95% of the decks I play and play against are multicolored. Especially commander. 😎👍

@@Loki.Lyesmyth yes but a lot of the lands are not that in multicolor cause alot of them will only run stuff that has a purpose and not put it in just for 1 card or will swap it for fetchland, shock, battlebond land that you don’t have to pay into to get a color I have seen very few of colorless producing lands cause the others are strictly better and won’t not run a shock for a colorless when they have artifacts that do it

Merfolk with flare of denial or delver decks in legacy come to mind immediately

I’d prolly play flare of denial in any other deck, but honestly as it stands right now since I mainly play storm, I think I might have to pass this one

Ugins labyrinth allows for turn one chalice of the void on 1. That might be too good.

Flare of denial is probably going straight into merfolk

I would run Null Elemental Blast, but the problem is that I wouldn't be able to tutor it with Sunforger.

Maybe Flare of Denial will bring Faeries/Merfolk back to Modern?

I feel like flare of duplication is the best of the flare cycles.

Flare of Denial is going to see play in specific decks, but it's niche enough (aside from Commander) it won't be broken. It's fail case is that it is a Cancel, which is terrible compared to Counterspell, Mana Drain, or even Mana Leak; and it's success case is still 2-for-one on yourself just like all the other free counterspells in those formats, but the others don't require the setup (there's no playing this on your opponent's first turn if they are going first). It's other problem is that it demands you give up a blue creature for the free mode. How many decks in Modern have a blue creature that they would be willing to give up in most circumstances to cast this? No one is giving up a Murktide regularly. you need to have some low-cost creature that you are willing to give up later. Which sounds like Merfolk, and not much else.

Snapcaster Mage targeting a Flare of denial to then sacrifice the Snapcaster is actually a thing. Only 1U for a hard unconditional counter with snappy decks

You can't cast it for its alternate cost from the graveyard, snap makes you pay its mana cost. So you could sac a snap that you used for something else, but can't flashback this for just 1U with it.

Unfortunately i dont believe so. You would be able to cast flare of denial with flashback, but flashback itself is an alternative cost. Since you can't do two alternative costs for the same cast of a spell, you can't both do flashback and do the free sac a blue creature on denial, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Null elemental blast is basically color denial since unless you're monocolored/running the kamigawa legendary lands, almost every (color producing) land you put down is a dual land, which gets destroyed by NEB.

the color of a card is determined by the symbol of its mana cost or the color indicator placed at the left of a card's card type. Lands can't have mana costs, so every land without a color indicator is basically colorless even tif it produces colored mana.

The green flare is better IMO. (It’s a cultivate, but you can sac a nontoken green creature instead of paying 3.)

I'm looking forward to Eldritch Immunity to give target creature I control protection from all colors for {c} (or gives all creatures that protection for the alternate overload cost of 4{c}) If one of my creatures has protection from all colors, that means if it blocks colorless creatures, it will not get damage, but can deal damage and it can't be blocked by creatures that aren't colorless and can't be targeted by any ability or spell that is not colorless. That's great as protection and fantastic for a big attack. :) Also, it's an instant speed eldrazi spell for the new Ulalek Eldrazi Commander! :D

If I remember correctly, if you have multiple alternate costs and such, you must choose one. That means the flashback must be paid fully. Still, I encourage research just to be sure.

You can't flashback in conjunction with other alternative casting methods. You have to pay the cost of the spell to cast it from the graveyard, no tricks allowed here. Snapcaster is still a great sac victim for the card, just not while it's in the graveyard.

it's a three mana hard counter with no specific targets, which is already decent, but the alternate cost is also a plus. It'll see more play than abjure, which forced you to sac a creature.

Waaaaait waitwaitwait. I play Hinata in Commander (cost reduction on your spells for the number of targets, cost increase for opponents' spells for each target). So.... So null elemental blast is just free removal in that deck. Holy.
