    Doug, I always just leave those jet caps completely off. I just use my Husky jest tuning tool on them at that point and it’s not let me down yet because the splines seem to find some sort of grip on the jet needles and “away I go”! But I might just be lucky so far.

    Thank you very much ! Do you have a video that works after installation? How do you adjust the carburetor after installation?

  • @IndianaDoug

    @IndianaDoug

    2 ай бұрын

    You’ll need to adjust by ear. These carburetors are small and will require a bit more fuel after modifications.

    Strange how in Europe/uk we have d shape carb screws. I don't bother putting the limiter caps back in. They just get in the way. Wonder if that is the only difference. What's the carb code on yours?

  • @IndianaDoug

    I’ll need to look. The caps make it much easier to adjust when the saw is running.

    Can you help me? I installed the eagan pipe and turned the limiters all the way clockwise til it stops. So from this point on, what's a good starting point for the H and L when starting from scratch for the saw to work well?

    All saws tune slightly different. Start at 1 full turn out on both, and fine tune from there.

    just curious why you put the orange limiter sleeves back in? Wouldn’t it be easier to adjust them without the sleeves in?

  • @IndianaDoug

    @IndianaDoug

    3 ай бұрын

    That’s just it. Putting the “sleeves” back after nipping off the stops, allows you tuning screwdriver to guide in easier.

    I’ve always been told that a saw doesn’t run properly without a muffler because it doesn’t get the needed back pressure, does that small pipe provide back pressure?

  • @IndianaDoug

    @IndianaDoug

    4 ай бұрын

    Forget what you’ve been told. A muffler “muffles” sound and adds no performance value. On a 2 stroke, only an expansion chamber adds power.

    @@IndianaDoug cool, thanks for the info. Does replacing the muffler with an exhaust pipe increase the power noticeably? And does the carb need adjustments after it. I know how to replace a muffler but I don’t know sh1t about adjusting carbs 😅

  • @IndianaDoug

    @IndianaDoug

    4 ай бұрын

    @Donuts_random_stuff think of it as a garden hose. If there’s a bunch of kinks (restrictions), only so much water pressure will be produced and only so much water will be evacuated. Now back to saws, the heat is evacuating quicker without a muffler restriction. In theory a restrictive muffler holds heat in an air cooled motor. The EPA is a big influence on how many of these mufflers are designed also.

  • @IndianaDoug

    @IndianaDoug

    4 ай бұрын

    @Donuts_random_stuff also, yes your saw will run a little different if there’s no restriction, retuning is definitely encouraged.

    Is a ported exhaust basically just a straight pipe?

  • @IndianaDoug

    @IndianaDoug

    3 ай бұрын

    Sorry if know this already…There’s an exhaust port, and there’s a muffler. The exhaust port is what the muffler attaches to and they often get port work done to them ie; widening, smoothed/polished. The muffler is sometimes called “ported” but that’s incorrect terminology imo. It “modified” or “modded.” When a muffler is modded, you often add a port or ports, which is simply an extension of the muffler (like a small round tube). And then some just drill the stock muffler larger and add a deflector. Hope this helps👍🏻
