On uchi-chiburi, the reason why the blade seems like it may cut Kazu's hand is because his left leg/hip needed to move back. Like Shogo demonstrated, drawing and sheathing require complimentary movements with both hands and hips. Many mistakes can be corrected by slowing down and focusing on the fundamentals.

I've always been able to draw my sword pretty smoothly but I always had trouble with sheathing it until I saw one of your older videos that talked about the process. once I learned about the proper hand placement it instantly became so much easier to the point where I could sheath it without looking after just a few tries though it's not completely smooth yet, still need to practice.

This is incredibly helpful! I had trained in Kendo for a year in a dojo, however my sensei was...also new to using a sword, and I've largely been training myself ever since, with Bokken's. I recently bought a proper, real katana to train with, and I felt there were a few missing things with my form, things that other sources online have entirely breezed past, which you covered! I feel far more confident in training with more proper form now!

My personal opinion is that you are a brilliant teacher. It's not just about passing information to another. It's also the WAY it's done. Well done.

Thank you very much. I've had a katana for about three years or so. Before this video came out, I studied another video on sheathing a katana, and I stuck myself a few times before getting the hang of it. Your method is more practical and less painful.

I really like this video! I like how you have your friends do the katas and correct them and give tips on what they should be doing. I really think that it helps people learning at home, as most people probably make the same mistakes and / or have the same questions. I'm new to Iaido and your channel, and you have a lot of videos. Could you please recommend some of your videos that are similar to this one on learning Iaido? Thank you!

Luckily I found your channel! I also have to start iaido and I learned a lot from you, today my bokken arrived and I started practicing straight away, I have to say it looks easy but it's difficult and quite exhausting. I will continue to follow you, Shogo Sensei arigatou gozaimasu
