I’m 59. There is only one alternative to aging - death. I prefer to see my skincare as skin healthcare and repair. I also look after the health of the other organs of my body. I find this an good alternative to seeing aging as a bad thing.

Sad part that so many young people are so scared of wrinkles when they are in their 20s. I find it just crazy. We all have to realize that we are all going to age and eventually die. I find it much more important concentrating on being healthy as long as possible than just think about looks all the time. Less we think about our looks, the better. 😂

I get so shamed for eating healthy and avoiding processed food. People always are like oh it‘s just because you don’t want to get fat. Or they think I judge them. I just don‘t want to get sick just because of my food choices and I enjoy my healthy food. I still like a scoop of ice cream on the weekend with my boyfriend 🌞💓

I get shamed too sometimes especially on sugar intake. I just cannot tolerate sweet drinks. during event, I would opt for plain water and only sips on sugary drink 😂 when my friend offered me soft drinks I would say no I don't drink that stuff... they're shocked and ask why. I said I don't like sweet drinks. it shocked me even further how frivolous people are on their food choices. especially in my age, you need to think about your portion and consequences

@@ryeofoatmeal I get it, I can’t drink soft drinks, so disgusting 😅 It‘s so weird how people have no problem shaming you for good choices and are totally excepting of bad choices, kind of a thing nowadays. My uncle got really sick, smoked and was overweight his whole life. Now his son is really disappointed and sad that he did that to himself. It breaks his heart. You should really think about the future and how your choices affect your loved ones

Love that you guys bring up all those talking points about alcohol - I also stopped drinking shortly after I moved to NYC and went through a similar thought process to what Fel describes. I think as an extrovert, luckily it was easier to transition and I realized I actually didn't have to drink to enjoy someone's company or a conversation. But it definitely revealed to me the people around me (good or bad). Now I feel like I don't actually like to drink around people I'm not fond of, and for the people I do enjoy being around, I don't need to drink. But if a drink were shared we'd still have a blast :)

As someone in Applied science, I always felt like science these days is trying to resolve issues that should probably be resolved by the Sociology/Philosophy field. Society needs to hold space for people to hold those discussions. All that comes to my mind is Netflix Altered Carbon series, yes it was full of action but they were fighting for mortality. The point you made about alcohol was good. I come from a smalltown where you start experimenting with drinking as a 14 year old, I smoked my first cigarette too when I was 12 (I know, in hindsight it's really f'd up). It made for a lifelong habit where I had issues rawdogging (excuse my French) social events. I hardly ever drank or smoked when I was alone, but as soon as I was invited to a party it's like something came over me. Now that I'm 30 I finally feel like I have a grip on it. I wish I had learned earlier on what it meant and other ways to deal with what I was feeling.

I don't know if you have already touched on that topic before, I would be interested if you expand more on what was mentioned at the end of the video, about "how days cannot always look the same + wanting to get through a checklist + life does not work like that." I struggle with my approach day-to-day and I often feel guilty, because I am unable to make the difference between real procrastination and unrealistic society expectations (what my day should look like). Also what about wanting to feel liberated from workism culture (when your worth is only tied to how busy you are).

Regarding sleeping even that gets harder when one goes through pre and menopause. I was always an excellent sleeper until menopause came about. I think all we can do is to go through the grow process the best we can and healthy. In spite of all to keep you happiness. A happy person has a light and a beauty that is hard to describe independently on the looks.

I am now doing what my parents did with us growing up where because you don't have as much for yourself during the day due to all the responsibilities, you stay up late into the night trying to get that time back, just like i'm doing right now watching YT lol. I'm a bit fed up with all the slightly worrisome and borderline toxic beauty community talk around anti-ageing, especially on Reddit. I think everyone should be able to decide for themselves what is best for their skin but it has become really difficult to have an open conversation about skincare/beauty. I posted about getting a microcurrent device before I bought my foreo bear on one of the skincare subs on Reddit and just got heavily downwoted when all I wanted were user experience stories from people who have tried it! It's very refreshing to hear you two talk openly about this stuff in a calm way, thank you so much

I'm only half way through so I am not sure if this got brought up later. But retinol. One of you stated earlier that anti-aging creams are just thicker, which is sometimes the case. But some of them contain retinol which is proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as acne. But it can be irritating so do your research if you use it. And it is a long term use thing to see the benefits.

Darlings Ro and Fel I will be 59 and will be 60 in a couple of months. My experience with aging or growing up is the problem of alignment of emotional and mental grow up with physical decline. One feels “younger” than your body feels and looks. Looking in the mirror and not conciliating the looks and the feel. Another external factor is the way people treat you or ignore you. I realized that after a certain point in time in my carrear there was no more development. I became obsolete and invisible. It looks s true that people treat you differently and all of this can be frustrating for a while. Until you become ready to believe what others think of you: you are Old.
