3.4L 5VZ-FE Fuel injector Replacement

This video was was made following the guidance of online forums and various help from other KZread creators (Timmy the Toolman). Hopefully it helps you out in replacing your own fuel injectors. This is applicable to all 3rd gen 4Runners, 1st gen Tacomas and Tundras.

    Absolutely perfect video. It was easy to follow - I changed all the injectors, coil packs and plugs. Car runs perfect now! I dont know what the issue was, but I figured I might as well change all of it to be safe.

    This is very entertaining. Can't wait to do this project on my Taco. There's a junkyard near me with a 3rd gen 4runner with a 3.4 in it. I hope the fuel injectors are still in it, that way I can send that set to be cleaned and remanufactured.

    I'm going to do this operation this coming week hopefully. I am going to replace the fuel pressure regulator too, as long as I've got things dismantled. I have reason to believe that it's faulty, due to a condition of being difficult to start after having been driven for awhile. (It starts right up after having sat overnight). Some people (here on KZread) have managed to replace it without removing the plenum, but I was unable to do so, having difficulty reaching/accessing it. Thanks for your vid.

    @@danyo6317yep, plugs, wires, coils. It was fine at first (a lucky startup) after replacing those items, then it started again at next startup. For me, at least, the final verdict was the injectors. I sent my bad ones to Motorwest (after I replaced with their re-man'd ones) and they confirmed the one that was showing in my CEL cylinder mis-fire was, indeed, bad.

    What did the truck do with bad injectors? Or symptoms? I have a 99 with a P0172 system too rich. I checked for vacuum leaks,cleaned maf sensor, etc. it’s hard to diagnose these trucks because I can’t use the scanner to shut off injectors. All sensors are good i guess i’ll try replacing injectors next

    I've got the 3.4l and I used seafoam to clean out my intake manifold. A friend's dad of mine who's a fuel specialist at Ford recommend sea from in the gass tank too. Currently, I've dumped half a can in...hoping it'll clean out the crud I can see lower in the valves

    Dont need to remove throttle cable, theres a bolt on the intake you can remove and leave em on the tb..

  • @itseric1jzson
    @itseric1jzson Жыл бұрын

    Just an FYI you don't have to disconect the throttle body from the upper plenum for removal of intake manifold.

  • @itseric1jzson

    @itseric1jzson

    Жыл бұрын

    Another FYI: you don't have to disconect any fuel lines from the rail to remove the injectors. There is enough space to get them out after removing the 2 bolts per fuel rail that are holding the rails in. I would recommend disconecting the fuel line that's between driver side outer wheel well/ fusebox and where both the plenum's meet.
