The performance elite is a bit harder to get set up with only two adjustments. If you open up the high speed too much the rebound increases. I bought a grip 2 damper and it really changed my ability to control the feedback. You might also have too much pressure in the fork, mine was pretty harsh with 90 psi and I am 10-15 lbs heavier that you. At 80 psi it really changed, but I needed to keep the high speed closed more. Just keep tweaking it - it helps to have a friend help with the sag to get it right also.

  • @vitalmtb

on enduro and trail bikes that's true, but DH bikes aren't used for seated pedaling, so reach #s don't align the same way. the new V10 (one of the most recently released DH bikes) has 3-position reach and size large can be 464, 472 or 480mm. The longest Demo (yeah, an older frame) is only 466mm! The latest commencal is 484mm on a large in low, so some DH bikes are getting longer for sure.

Also the rolling circus demo is not adequate. During non COVID times is not a good statement for getting people on the correct bikes. If you can’t do it without the restrictions and hurdles they need to find another way. Also if you are a lightweight rider the base spec is absolutely too much weight. My 130lbs girlfriend has a very tough time managing the bikes weight.

Fair point. YT's large, 27.5-inch Tues has a 452mm reach while the X-large we tested has a 474mm reach. All other test bikes this summer have had between a 460-465mm reach. When we picked which size to test, we realized we were between sizes for myself and Griz. We agreed a size large would be too small for me and the size X-large, although big for Griz's height, would lend itself to stability descending. Hindsight is 2020 and we now know the X-large was too big for Griz to manage. However, if we had gone with a size Large Tues I feel confident the review would have been skewed the other way with myself finding the size large much too small. I think this just goes to show finding the opportunity to test ride a YT (or really any bike, consumer-direct or not) can be valuable to arrive at the correct size. Cheers!
