Today we are going to see how to make a perfect square with the help of some string and the ruler, thanks to the Pythagorean Theorem.
We owe this formula to the philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras.
In this case, what I'm going to build I want to be parallel to this wall. I'll get a reference line.
We hooked a string on the end and passed it through the wall.
We tighten the cord and move it until it is in line with the wall.
We pay attention that the string is with the same separation along the wall.
Now we are going to move the reference line to where we need it.
We stick a stick.
We measure how far we want our construction to go.
We nail one stick at the same distance from the string as the other.
We drive a nail just in the measurement.
We hook a string and take it to the other pole.
We tighten the string and tie it on the nail.
Now we take something that has two squared sides to help us approximate the square.
We put one of the sides of the wood in line with the string.
