3-4-2022 1st And 2nd Feeding

The first feeding happened at 8:04 this morning, cam time... unlike other birds, the food is not regurgitated, bald eagle chicks eat small chunks of raw fish or whatever meat the adults offer them. You'll notice in the video Jackie's saliva is also going to the chick, the saliva is rich in electrolytes and antibodies, good for the chick!
Recently hatched chicks do not have a lot of muscle strength and you can see it is difficult for ours to hold its head up for feeding. The good news is we could already see more control buy the end of the day. Shadow delivered 2 fish and a coot today, The chick has already had 7 feedings so far!
There is a chance of snow off and on throughout the weekend, no worries, you can see how dry, fluffy and adorable chick 1 remained through the snow last night. 😊
We have not seen a pip on egg 2 yet, we will be watching and waiting...

This is so cute to watch. So happy that we have a eaglet from Shadow and Jackie. Hope all goes well with all the snow and the other egg is ok. What a precious little baby.
