It would have been a meme when the 2000/3000/6000 series on the DC Metro sounds like the shortform of the R160As from the NY Subway

0:28 those cars were actually being scrapped at the time.

It's all fun and games till a MTA train is on DC tracks 💀💀

So basically those older 1000 series rail cars weren’t safe nor crash worthy, thus making them telescope over the rail cars and the structure would just completely come apart less like the newer rail cars wouldn’t.

@@theautistictransitfan yes, the consists would be a mix and the rohr cars would’ve been in the middle. Also fyi I have autism myself.

@@theautistictransitfan Which was nothing more then theater, as the 4000 series were structurally identical to the 1000 series with only difference being they were 10 years newer.

my question is how do these trains keep telescoping? that was a thing back when coaches were made of wood, these are made of metal

These trains were incredibly lightweight, and did not have very solid frames, and the crashes at Woodley Park and between Takoma and Fort Totten led to a ban on 1000 series cars being placed at the front ends of a train

Was that just 17 broken or crashed trains in 58 seconds!!????
