As much as people hate Aria in this scene, I have to say, it's one of my favorite scenes from her. For one, it is FANTASTIC acting on Lucy and Holly's parts, and also, it ties back to Aria's original secret: her dad's affair. It shows that she still holds a grudge over it and still hasn't forgiven him for it, and it shows the strain in their relationship. That is some deep character development if you ask me.

her parents are acting like how any normal loving parents would have. but at the same time aria is acting like a normal teenager who's head over heels in love. the only difference is she has something against her father. and let's be honest, anyone of us would do the same if we were in her shoes. she's defending her love.

This is one of my favorite Aria moments. So Boss!!!

I don't get Why everybody hates Aria over this, I mean, she was 100% right.. And if I found out something like that, my dad cheating on my mom with a 20 years younger woman who is his student I would have gone to the Dean before talking to him, because I love my mom more then Anyone and I would Punnish him for hurting her! He ruïned their lives, made her lie to her mom, he is a pathetic EXCUSE for a dad! And then when a 16 year old and a 21 year old love each other, he tries so hard to Punnish her for it, that's sick! I feel sorry for Ella, but she should have known!

E Visser Ezra is actually 24. You can work this out by the fact that Malcolm, who is 6 in series 3, was born shortly after he started university, when Ezra was 18. This makes Ezra 25 in series 3+ (until the 5 year jump) and 24 in series 1 and 2 (which occurs in Aria and co's junior year).

Just to comment, Byron is secretly talking about himself, because he’s such a hypocrite after the shot he pulled with Meredith. And he still has the guts to talk to his wife like nothing happened, calling all the shots in this house and not thinking that he needs to distance himself by leaving somewhere else for a awhile, out of respect for his wife and for the sake of his kids (Mike is right! He still hates his dad, and is angry with his mom for still making a bad decision).

Yes, Aria shouldn't of acted like this. But you know what? She was angry. I do some stupid shit when I'm angry. I say some things I shouldn't say when I'm angry. And not to mention, it's still there. She's still not happy that he cheated and hasn't forgiven him. I mean, I couldn't because he CHEATED. It shows that she hasn't gotten over it yet. So yes, she shouldn't of done it but you can't act like you wouldn't do the same thing in her situation. I mean, it doesn't justify her actions but I don't enjoy people in the comment section acting like saints. You can't really be mad at her, and plus, it'd be stupid if she kept her mouth shut. Flaws. Characters have flaws. And you can tell she felt bad at the end of it all. She just was being impulsive.

Lauren Onderwater I absolutely agree with what you say. When you're angry, you do and say things you don't mean and would never do. Aria will never forgive her Dad, but likewise she would never intentionally land him in prison. As she says, she is backed into a corner, torn between the man she loves and the family she loves. Byron is the hypocrite here, for obvious reasons. To be honest, I think there is only one Montgomery who should decide what happens: Mike. He is angry at Byron, but tolerates and is nice to him because he wasn't old enough to completely understand what was happening. He loves Ella and isn't clouded by the many things she wrongly appears to believe. He loves Aria and can see the love she holds for both her family and Ezra. He knows Ezra (admittedly as Mr Fitz) and has seen him in work and casual situations. Despite being young, he appears to have a good head on his shoulders and isn't clouded by anger, hypocrisy, over lying worry, or hatred.

I think she was right to do that, and i hate how her mom reversed the situation by saying she was ashamed of aria when it should be the opposite

I get that it's wrong to speak to your parents like that but honestly I think it was deserved. I mean Arias parents are basically trying to ship her away after trying to do that with Ezra. And its not just that, I feel like both her parents especially her dad were being super hypercritical in this situation and that honestly he deserved that comment. Especially after making Aria keep that secret, I feel like that was a seriously underrated issue. Like its not okay for Aria to lie to her parents or lash out at them but its okay for her dad to basically blackmail her into keeping his secret?

Honestly as a teacher, he should have been fired. Having sex with a young girl. Someone who has not grown up yet, someone who is still learning how to be independent. It's not normal and shows that he is very immature for someone who went to college

I really like Ella as a mom, but honestly if she needs to do the right thing for her kid she has two options. First firmly disagree with the relationship and dont allow it ( i would hate that, but still respect her as a parent) or support your daughter all the way understand the relationship ad be by her side. Yeah Bayron has lost almost every right to speak about this but Ella can disagree with every right on her. she is upset because her daughter is acting out. well dear you are backstabbing her as much. how is Aria suppous to react? her father is so damn hyporcritive her mum goes by the wind and her relationship with ezra is hanging by a threat. I don't blame her.

Aria was right to be mad they were going to send her away from her friends and Ezra so aria had to use what she had against her father as a threat !

Although I feel as though Byron is a huge hypocrite and I support Ezria hardcore, I feel bad for Ella because she's just caught in the middle of it all. Poor Ella!

I have very much sympathy for Ella, because I understand it's not easy for her either. But Aria had every right to 'threaten' them. They left her no choice. Ella is being so overdramatic "I don't even know how we could go back to how it used to be" and all that. Byron did some pretty unforgivable things as well but she went back to that? It makes no sense.

Byron may be an hypocrith, but I don't think he is that bad. He is just a father trying to protect his daughter. Like any father would. And the thing is, Byron may have had an affair with his student, but she wasn't a SIXTEEN years old teenager Oo. It doesn't make it ok but it's a pretty big difference.

Honestly I think what aria did was right on her part she was being pushed into a corner and being judged and punished for something her own father did. All she did was make her parents partially understand her position.

Byron is a dad. He's just doing his job. Why doesn't anyone understand this? Byron and Aria are not equals. Byron is the father. Aria is the daughter. It's his job to protect her and keep Aria safe. I'm a 24 year old woman who would never ever be even give a 16 year old the time of day. They are children. They are lost without their families. Byron knows aria needs guidance. He committed adultery but he certainly wasn't having an affair with a young girl. He was having an affair with a college student (someone who was far more mentally developed than a higj schooler). He loves his daughter and it's his responsibility to make sure grows up into a responsible young woman safely. Dating a teacher is not going to help her thrive in a healthy way.

This was more than just defending her relationship with Ezra, Aria was also protecting her mom. Ella said that Ezra wasn't the only reason why Byron and her were looking into boarding schools which means that Ella is still trying to find out/uncover who the hell "A" is. Ella wants to get Aria out of harms way but she doesn't know anything that is going on in her daughter's life, without that threat....Aria might not have gotten Ella to back off. For now, she is safe. Anything Aria > "A" problems

Her parents reacted the wrong way to Aria and Ezra's relationship. Instead of targeting Ezra for approaching Aria in the first place, they are targeting and victim blaming Aria as if she is the one at fault when she is the one that was being taken advantage of by controlling who she sees what she wears. They should be targeting to yelling at Ezra, not victim blaming and controlling and yelling at Aria

I can't really understand why you hate aria so much for what he said. I mean, if my dad was angry with my forbidden relationship when I had to keep his a secret for three years I would have been something more than furious. Byron destroyed their family with what he did and he has no right to talk to aria for forbidden relationships. Ella can do whatever she wants, but byron has lost every right to talk about that. And then the boarding school. You cant just "explore" the idea of sending your kid in a boarding school without your kid even knowing.

Aria and erza was illegal it would be OK if she was 20 and he was 26 since she was underage at the time and her dad was with someone who was at least of age maybe 20 or so it wasn't as a bad as Ezra and aria especially because Ezra knew who aria was and prayed on her for a stupid book he was writing about another underage girl (which was Alison) he had dated its literally a pattern that he had he was a creeper he knew who she was the whole time and used it as advantage

And although the show keeps on telling us that Aria is "mature" nothing she's ever done can be remotely categorized as such. But of course, you need to suspend disbelief watching this show. And we don't really know anything about Ezra besides that he "loves" Aria. He's rather mysterious.

This is so realistic. We all go through the teenage phase, and you say stuff out of anger. Aria threatening to tell on her dad out of spite is something I feel a teenager would do. When I was a teen they threatened to send me to military school, and I told them to go ahead but to remember I had younger siblings and I’d treat them like military school. Scared my mom out of the idea. God I was such a little shit head! 🤦🏽‍♀️ Didn’t think of what I was saying, it just came out like word vomit.

I like Ezra. I really do. But COME ON be realistic guys. She's a 16 years old TEENAGER sleeping with her TEACHER! That is so wrong on so many levels. Threatening her family for him? Really? @tgirl411g I agree wholeheartedly. I get that she's upset and feeling desperate at this point, but that was pushing the boundaries way too much. I was so disappointed as well. Her behavior was unacceptable and if my kid disrespected me like that, I would make sure she would think twice before she pulled something like that again.

I just want to say that these people are crazy for defending Aria. I have never seen someone talk to and treat their family like this. Especially someone who claims they love them so much and do anything for them. If I was Ella I would slap Aria and let her know not to ever talk to me like that. I’m sorry but aria was groomed… point blank period. She is a child! She is stressed and he parents are being total assholes. You don’t ship your kid off off where something even WORSE could happen. And you most certainly don’t tell your child you are ashamed of them, for saying how they feel. She was never going to call the dean and her mother should have known that.

honestly I hate how everyone in the comments supports aria here. How dare she talk to her parents like that? Ella is right. And to some extent Byron is too. yes byron has a few skeletons in his closet but I don't blame him for what he's doing because he's trying to keep the same thing from happening again. Byron made a mistake but he was a man about it, and he resolved the whole thing and moved on. Byron has never not regretted the affair with meredith meanwhile aria and ezra are persistent that what they're doing is 100% right. when they don't even realise how wrong they are, byron has little choice than to separate them as much as he can. I'd have done much worse than byron if aria was my daughter.

no, byron is not right. ..and ,yes , there is some years differents,but he isn't paedophile...this is tipical parents mistake. if you want your child to go away,hiding from everyone*specialy from you ,and do who knows what, then go ahead, punishment is your solution... but if you want your child on a right way, accept all the things he/she wants ,give them your approval but with your supervision...if you want to be a good parent you have to be better pedagogist.

But the term "statutory rape" is ill-defined at best. In some jurisdictions, that term applies to even two minors having sex...and in most countries the age of consent is puberty.
