"I just did a remix to “What’s Ya Phone #” with all new lyrics. We took that MC Lyte beat from her new song she has out [“Keep On Keepin' On”]. It’s so freaky, you won’t believe it."
It was originally intended for an album entitled 100% Black Gold that 2Pac began working on with producer Johnny J shortly after the release of All Eyez On Me and before work began on the One Nation collaboration and Makaveli.

Yeah they switched it because its an MJ sample and thought it was too explicit to keep that way.. so they used it on a more single friendly song Letter to my Unborn.. which also had its own OG beat

OG to Letter 2 My Unborn is a masterpiece too. So we had one classic destroyed by removing the sample from this and moving it. But I agree the remix of Letter 2 My Unborn helped the album sell well. Same with Until The End of Time. The og to that is also amazing. They should just drop a lost tapes 2 with these
