I did the same mod and i made the same mistake of pulling that gearset out too far as well. Lol. Had a hell of a time trying to reinstall. 😂

Gotcha, yeah I’ve got IfS and lockers and I’m kinda wanting to stay that way for now. I wonder if it’s easier then SAS for the transfer case anyways

Did you end up removing the small ear on the 2/4wd rods? It appears the 4wd goes backwards and the ear would not affect it…?

Yes I did have to grind that off. Used a 2” cut off wheel on a die grinder.

I’m about to do this same swap on my 3rd gen Tacoma. I’m curious, you skipped the entire tab removal, did you end up disassembling the entire case or did you figure out another way?

Sorry I must have skipped filming that. I ended up stuffing the hole with rags to catch metal debris and cutting it off with a borrowed dremel tool with a tiny cut off wheel.

What year fj tcase can u use and does it bolt directly to 2nd gen Tacoma transmission my truck is a 4cylinder 5speed as well are all the bolt holes the same ??

07-14 FJ cruiser automatic transmission. That case is a direct bolt on once you swap the little adapting coupler.

just got my transfer case for my 5spd taco and I am getting it ready for install. is there any adjustment on the driveshaft length I should be worried about?
