2nd Day of Rockhounding in 2020

I have been told that the Kauaeranga River at Thames is the place to go looking for rocks. An extra 30km out of my way from where we were staying after exploring the tailings of the old gold mine the day before, with a bit of gravel road driving we continue to explore paradise that New Zealand is.
Boy oh boy did it live up to its reputation and more.
I got so excited at the potential find that in the bright sun I couldn't see the screen of the phone and assumed that I was recording the epic find, but instead of turning the phone on I was turning it off. Got heaps of footage from the inside of my back pocket lol. I won't bore you with that but there is hope as I somehow managed to get a few glimpses of the find in between filming nothing much important.
Hope that you enjoy this excursion as much as we did.

From what I've seen your poppy Jasper looks like little poppies. I've started tumbling this and it is looking amazing.

I recently found a large Green and red jasper in the Tairua River any recommendations on how to polish it? Or will it be better to cut it in half to expose the nice colours. Its about the size of a rugby ball lol

If you don't have tools like a variable speed polisher and diamond pads then it's the long slow process of hand sanding with wet and dry sandpaper. Cutting something that size can be a mission if one doesn't have the gear to do the job.
