Probably a good gear to do underwater repairs or inspections of your boat. In this use case, you stay close to the surface, are attached to the boat with a lifeline, but have your hands free to work, and the dive time is more than sufficient. I would consider one if going on a blue water cruise.

What about for lake diving? Maybe 10 feet tops. I really want to go out and pick up trash and other lost stuff in my local lake. I don’t live on the coast so there are no scuba classes near me. Or maybe I could use a garden hoes and tie it to my boat and breath through that?

@@RazorRevengeI wouldn’t recommend it without any scuba training, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be able to breath through a hose at that depth, and even if you could it would probably get full of co2, similar to how snorkels can give you a “co2 hit” if used improperly

@@TheAdatto The air has to be pressurized for you to be able to breath at depth. You cannot expand your lungs normally underwater, if you didn't have the pressure you wouldn't be able to draw any air in.

I would use this as a self-contained emergency air system for my main system. Being a wreck diver you find yourself in situations without a direct ascent. I had an o-ring blowout on my main while deep in a wreck. But my dive buddy was right there, so after I grabbed his second/emergency regulator we attempted to diagnose the issue. Failing that we made our way out and a safe ascent. With this small bottle, it will give the diver an emergency air system in case their buddy was several meters/yards away. Overall it is for peace of mind.

No , that will be very dangerous. U need to use trimax. The O² % is wrong. When doing technical wreck diving. U need to plan your % before driving. Emergency is not planned 😕.... Any use deeper then 10 meters could be dangerous!

With french made military rebreathers (DC-55, FROG) you didn't have (well ..you don't have) a safety regulator. The only thing you could count on in emergency was a small 0,6 liter or 0,4 liter air bottle that was used for BCD inflation ...so you had to take off the hoses of the rebreather and breath from the BCD ...and ascent from up to 55 meters of depth (maximum depth for the DC-55)

Please wait 24 hours before flying after diving.. generally accepted rule

You can use your own compressor if it is made for scuba diving. And the one I use and the ones I mention in the video are made for breathing air.

Like he says in the video I would get training also since, not only do you learn a lot, you run through a multitude of emergency procedures and experience in a pool and open water. If you don't have it and something goes wrong you will most likely panic, or have to think what to do which wastes precious time. Furthermore, with training you are far less likely to end up in a situation anyway. It happened to me when I was in training, my mouthpiece detached from the regulator and I took a second to discover what was wrong, being new at the time, I naturally tried swimming quickly to the top but the weight belt made it slow since I was still learning to maintain buoyancy. Fortunately I quickly put in my seondary regulator and re-surfaced. Although I am not the sort of person to panic, it is still scary and being inexperienced and ill-educated makes your insticts take over, which for something like SCUBA diving, can be fatal.

Yes, take your time finding the right instructor, taking the time to learn your skills well, and you'll be very comfortable in the open water, because the skills will becomes 2nd nature with practice..

As a certified SCUBA diver, my main concern with these things is that they're being freely marketed to people who aren't. They suggest that customers seek proper training, but I doubt many people are going to bother with a full SCUBA course for something like this.

You guys are very safety. Safety. Safety. Im certified as well but to me this has a specific utilitarian use which is routine boat and anchor inspections. As sailors we have to frequently check props, inspect hulls, check anchors. This is routinely no more than 3m. Holding your breath in a sea state while trying to unwap a founled prop is a hassle, and coming up nearly out of breath you risk bumping your head etc. I would use this w a SOP onboard that states no more than 3m and 10 min. At that point the risks are less than using snorkel gear since depth and duration are not even factors.

You do realize that the air in your lungs expands when you come up, right? This means that if you don't keep your airway open that your lungs will be over-inflated upon surfacing if they were full at depth. This isn't an issue when you dive without a tank, because at depth your lungs are not fully inflated even if they were on the surface, because the air in your lungs becomes compressed as you go down.

Am glad to see you posting vids again, will be very interesting to see you compare tanks with people with no diving experience

2 liters in a bottle at 200 bar pressure (2900 psi) is 400 liters of air Basically the human breathes on the surface between 12 to 20 times per minute for a capacity of 2.5 liters in calm weather and 5 liters in effort time. By spanking an average say 15 breaths per minute for 3 liters (15x 3= 45 liters per minute) and therefore 400 liters / 45 this gives 8.8 minutes of air on the surface At 10 meters divided by 2 or 4.4 minutes and at 20 meters by 3 or 2.9 minutes. Must not have tress otherwise more air. Even use as a backup for a stop of 3 minutes at 5 meters the bottle is not sufficient It will be empty well before because the breathing of the divers will be more important due to the stress of the end of the dive. This type of bottle is dangerous for divers It is fine for those who snorkel. Response from a scuba diving instructor

I think most resources use an estimate of 20 liters per minute. My SAC rate isn’t great and it’s 15 liters per minute… 45 liters per minute would be the consumption of a panicked diver

You should have the pony bottle visually inspected. Make sure you have the O-rings in place and fill the tank with a compressor that is suitable for breathing gases.

Looks like the suit inflation bottles we used in the Navy - buoyancy in the drysuit! You couldn't breathe from it, though. Anyone remember ABLJs? (Adjustable Buoyancy Life Jackets) - pre-cursers to the BCD. These had small inflation bottles like this and could be used in an emergency, by breathing through the ABLJ's mouthpiece. Actually, I think they were even smaller than this!

can think off a few times this would have been handy, mainly clearing the boat prop when we got a big sheet off plastic wraped around it!!

Clarity of that pool water is 👍 excellent.

15 minutes. 1/2 of the claimed dive time. Make sure you have a filter on your compressor. Also make sure you're compressor is oil less . I don't think it possible to get 2600 psi without a 3 stage compressor.

Toothpaste is to get the oils from the manufacturing process completely off before you start using the mask. After that you can use plain old dishwashing liquid but make sure to rinse off the soap before use! Or baby shampoo that doesn't sting the eyes.

Toothpaste is used only to scrub the factory film off the inside of your mask BEFORE you use your mask, when it's brand new, and it should be repeated 2-3 times... Rinse and repeat... I don't always have spit when needed, (who does), and I use the commercial anti-fog spray, found at most dive shops.. Most dive boats have a bucket of soapy water to dunk your mask in and that works not bad, if you can't find anything else..

Thank you for your video, as always they are informative, detailed and you do warn for the risks of using these bottles with no training, it is an interesting product, but... to expensive, so let's do some maths, this equipment as bail out system is capable, and I was looking for a pony tank and looked at the prices, this setup would cost me between 500 to 600 euros without a compressor.. I bought a 5 liter scuba tank for 150 euros, a metalsub regulator first stage for 55 euros, a metalsub second stage for 60 euros, regulator's hose of 25 cms for 15 euros and a mini preassure gage for 17 euros, also bought tank harness to connect to my bcd, all in all 340 euros, all new material, they ask 500 euros for a that? hmmm

Max pressure 200 bars. Volume 2liters. Tidal volume is about 0.5 liter, breathing - about 15 times a minute. At a not deap diving, accordiingly - 2*200/(0.5*15)=53 minutes. Deeper dive will reduce the amount of possible breathings accordingly. 10 meters - 2 times, 20 meters - 3 times, and so on. fast movements would lead to deeper and faster inhaling. Let say another factor 2. So 2 L bottle should give you 10-20 minutes at 10 meters dive.

Decompression sickness can also occur from fast ascent speeds, not just from exceeding the time limits. It's a way better review than the last time with all the safety advices.

Yes but nitrogen still needs to have time to build up in your bloodstream. You won't get decompression sickness at 10m in 12 min no matter how fast you go up.

@@LittleZakie sorry man, you're wrong here.. the whole thing about decompression sickness is due to the volume of nitrogen in your blood... you dont "on gas" at any significant level at that depth, due to the lack pressure.. ascending fast from that depth may cause a lung injury in very rare circumstances.... but it still wouldn't be likely ... again becuase of the pressure ratio "edit" - and the time spent there being so minimal.. like less than 120 mins..

AT 4m00 mark. About filling the smaller tank with a big tank. Even the 1st time will never fill the small bottle to 100% because of the equilibirum. So full large bottle will 1st time fill small bottle to about 80-90% IMHO. And then of course as stated it gets worse starting with large bottle not from 100%.

I have a 6CH Spare Air. Which is Way Bigger than 2L. It's a bit Bulky. Like the idea of the Air Hose and Separate Reg. My Pool is Overcrowded. Never asked if I could Test it. I'm Not Scuba Certified. Can't afford the classes now. I could probably pass the Book Work without issue. Even I know about the Breathing on Ascent. Boyle's Law. Gas under Pressure. And the Risk of Popping a Lung. And DCS. I do a Modified Freedive. 90ft Breath Holds across the pool. Swimming along the floor. Then straight up the wall. I have to Watchout for CO2 Buildup mostly. I Wait about 1 1/2 Minutes between them. A few breaths to remove the excess CO2.

I'm not sure a hand pump can make 2000 psi or more can it? Pumping up a bike tire can be taxing enough.

Could I be ok to use this simply to dive under my boat to clean the prop of the regular fouling it gets?

Doesn't filling your tank with a hand pump allow moist air into the tank leading to rust

Just get SCUBA certified. They will teach you how to react to emergencies and explain how to stay alive in certain situations. This contraption IS a SCUBA device. You should be trained/certified to use it!

Take a class. Just ordering one of these tanks and trying it yourself without a license is extremely dangerous in a number of ways.

That trick fooled me sheeeet 😂

nothing beats correct training and these portray an easy and "harmless" way of diving and it is very dangerous to untrained people

Correct... The dive training is not really to teach you how to dive, per se, but skills training exercises to learn what do to in emergencies.. These skills are really important to know and should become ingrained and second nature... Practice a lot in a pool, and you will be very prepared to enjoy open water dives..

Talking about decompression sickness using 2L tank is so much fun :D Having open water diver certificate, you would not have any sort of decompression training anyway. But, go and do the OWD training. There are another dangers awaiting in the water. And after training with propper gear you would not play with such toys anymore if you love your life.

No one should use this or similar setup without a diver's license PERIOD! 2L at 200bar is 400 litres. A person in good condition and relaxed uses about 20L/minute at the surface so will use 40L/min at 10meters. That gives 10 minutes or maximum 7 minutes using the rule of thirds, that is always exit with one third of what you started with. If you are under stress, cold and/or physical exertion you can easily go in panic mode and use 10 times the air and then it's gone in under a minute.... and never, ever dive alone. You should always dive with a buddy and both have a spare regulator (and a spare brain)....

What compressor do you use? I’ve wanted to look into buying a compressor but I’m kinda hesitant.

Using the full-sized tank, I find they don't make me more buoyant. The air is so compressed in that tank that it increases the air density exponentially. Coupled with the metal material of the tank, I would think that they wouldn't make someone more buoyant.

When it's full with liquid gas it will be heavier than water so will decrease buoyancy but as you use the air the tank gets lighter so will become neutrally bouyant. When the tank is empty it will increase bouyancy.

Oxygen and Nitrogen don't become liquids at room temperature under any reasonable pressure (this differs from the likes of Propane and Butane and even CO2 which can be liquified at room temperature with feasible pressure).

Roughly speaking a litre of volume gives a kilogram of buoyancy. This tank is adverstised as having a capacity of 2L and a weight of 6.5Kg. The external volume is probablly a little bit bigger than the capacity but I would think the tank overall would stil have negative boyancy.

​@@petermichaelgreen also take into account the material of the cylinder. Aluminum tanks are negatively buoyant when they are full, but become more positively buoyant as air is consumed. This means that by the time an aluminum tank is empty, it will float to the surface. Steel tanks also start off negatively buoyant, but they typically remain so throughout most of the duration of the dive

Not bad, but I think that for similar price you could get a stage cylinder with a regulator.

This makes me really nervous when I think of people with no education using them. If you consider using a tank like this without training realise it could really KILL you if you use it incorrectly, by just some smaller mistakes. The largest one is that you forget and hold your breath as you go up which is extremely dangerous. Other risks include filling it with incorrect air or having a problem hapening deep down in the water such as just fainting. I understand it looks super fun, because it is, but it is a bit like driving a sports car without a licence. It is not that hard, but if you do a mistake on the freeway it will be the last thing you do. So I recommend going one or better several diving courses.

I'm certified. I see so many issues with this little tank. 5 meters seems safe enough, but it is pretty easy to dive to 20 meters without even realizing it. The guy using this is not going to have a depth gauge or a pressure meter and will not know how deep he is or how much air he has left. He won't have a BC. All of a sudden he is 20 meters down and run out of air. That is a time for panic. Hopefully he can make it to the surface. Much better solution for shallow dives by amateurs would be a hose with a floating pump. The tether limits you to 10 meters and you cannot get yourself in as much trouble. And as an added bonus you also have a diving flag.

These tanks may not be superb for standard diving. However! For pool maintenance. They are a God sin, because you don't need a 30-40 foot rod to reach the bottom and running back and forth. You can take the vacuum nozzle and dive to the bottom and suck up all of the nasties. It's much faster and it allows you to get a close look at the intakes and more to service at the bottom of some pools. It also allows you to get a through job. You can cut a hour long job in the sun, in half and your not having to stop to avoid heat stroke, sun burn etc. They have there place,

@@skzion2 ideally, a professional pool cleaning business or summer time husseler will spend roughly $1,000 on good equipment. 2L tank kit is between $400-500 + $400-500 for your vacuum, adapters, scrub brushes, chemicals, poles, mechanics tool kit, and the other basics for pool care. I prefer actually going go small scuba tank route for cleaning deep pools because you can physically stay at the bottom

@@blecgaming9069 Well, you might actually be a good customer for this device. You'd need to add the price for a speedy scuba-certified compressor, though, for all those refills. Even for you, though, why not just get a cheap scuba rig with 40 cu ft or maybe 80 cu ft, with a cheap regulator and bcd? And some weights. You'll be able to get these cylinders professionally filled (fills are pretty cheap). This would be much safer and less burdensome for serious use, or so it seems to me. You'll need fins and a mask regardless of system.

@@skzion2 Unfortunately where I live, the closest professional sucba shop is a 4-5 hour ride. So getting refills is quite a out of the way task unless I'm in the area. The cheapest scuba set from what I looked into, was $1,100 for everything. I do already have a certified air compressor, fins, mask and regulator as I do scuba for a hobby and clean pools for some extra cash. It's a great hobby either way , for someone that doesn't care to buy the full scuba rig and lesson anyways; this is a good; however more dangerous way to scuba.

One thing you haven't mentioned is buoyancy. It must be hard to maintain the right buoyancy without a proper BCD. And that will cause using a lot of energy and thus using a lot of air.

Might take some learning but when diving without neoprene this isn't really an issue.

Correct me if I am wrong but it's not decompression sickness thats the greatest threat here. It's a expansion injury? If you take a breath the bottom of pool this deep and swim to the surface you could explode your lungs etc. This has nothing to do with how long your down there. It can happen 5 seconds into your dive and the chance of it happening is nearly 100% if you don't do it properly.

Temu surprises me with some of the stuff I've bought from them but I wouldn't buy anything that could cost me my life.

I've seen Chinese divers use one of these to dive to 80m+ and come up with five catch bags of fish. Japanese divers do the same and bring back mermaids as well.

Very helpful / informative... thank you Christian. I have been considering an air tank (of this nature) for a while, but have been put off by the price of them. I have never scuba dived before; I would like to one day but probably wouldn't be able to, due to having had a cornea 👁️ transplant. (Unless anyone knows otherwise?)

I have no idea about corneal implants, but you can call DAN (the diver alert network) and talk/email them. They're doctors who answers questions about diving, offer diving insurance, and help in emergency. If you shouldn't go scuba diving then you shouldn't get this and do it. What puts me off is the price. Like 500 bucks? That's more (depending) than a full-size scuba tank. AND more for an adaptor and compressor? ehh. I might go for it if it was like 150 or something personally but this price ain't worth it for me. Hope you get a pass to go diving. I've only started training recently but it's really awesome.

A thought for you. Have you considered a SNUBA system? It’s basically a compressor on a float that (generally) uses batteries to power the compressor. I’m not sure of how long the hose is for feeding you air. It’s at least 30ft/10m or it could be a 300ft/100m. Also I have had two lenses (eyes) replaced and both corneas sliced for fixing near-sightedness. And I would be allowed to dive.

It would be good for emergencies on the sailboat. Instead of suffering a snorkel when trying to clear a prop or rudder.

Okay so, im a really good diver, can go down quite deep wihout s tank and stuff. But i want to use this just to extend a little my snorkeling time and i would like to buy the 0.5l one, is that okay i mean just to extend like snorkeling time if i see something interesting?

Was that bottle some how sealed when removed from shipping? If not. It should have been. I don't like that at all.

I'm certified. I see so many issues with this little tank. 5 meters seems safe enough, but it is pretty easy to dive to 20 meters without even realizing it. The guy using this is not going to have a depth gauge or a pressure meter and will not know how deep he is or how much air he has left. He won't have a BC. All of a sudden he is 20 meters down and run out of air. That is a time for panic. Hopefully he can make it to the surface. Much better solution for shallow dives by amateurs would be a hose with a floating pump. The tether limits you to 10 meters and you cannot get yourself in as much trouble. And as an added bonus you also have a diving flag.

I just wanma know is it safe to use this tank for about 8 feet deep i'm a beginner

What air compressor do you use

Been looking at getting one of these tanks to collet fishing lures at my peir witch from the top of water to ground i like 12 feet would i have to still take a class to safe

If you would like to use diving equipment you should definitely do an OpenWaterDiver certification. You can get easy hurt or die if something goes wrong.

I'm certified. You really can't get into too much trouble with this tank at 12 ft because it won't let you stay down long enough. But it is easier to go deeper than you think, and then trouble, serious trouble, can be found very easily. If you refuse to get training, which by the way is a lot of fun and less than this tank costs, then get a SNUBA. Much safer. Also cheaper, as you don't have to buy a compressor. Nobody will fill this tank for you, and you can't use your garage compressor.

Bravo.....dive class.....alwise exhaul when ascending....going up.......I see no Google's......did u get the high pressure hand pump.....2500psi....cheers
