2K22 (EP 59) Interstate 25 North Through Greater Denver

This video features Interstate 25 North through the Denver Metropolitan Area. The drive begins in Castle Rock in Douglas County, and passes through Centennial and Greenwood Village in Arapahoe County, before entering the Denver city limits and passing through Denver's Tech Center and then through downtown Denver before meeting I-70 in the "Mousetrap" Interchange. The video then continues north through Adams County as we pass through Thornton and Northglenn before passing through the city and county of Broomfield, before passing through Weld County, where we eventually end the video near the city of Longmont.

    Nice video Kyle as always. After watching many of your timelapse videos one thing has stood out to me is how many RV drivers are hanging on by a thread. The timelapse really make their bobbing and weaving stand out. Safe travels my friend...

    I visit Denver for about a week every year. I use I-25 in many of these spots during my stays. Never knew the I-70/I-25 interchange was called the Mouse Trap, but it is a fitting title! Driving south through there from Cheyenne one time was one of my worst driving experiences ever :D. Thanks for sharing this!

    It got the nickname from a radio traffic reporter during the 60's who said the interchange had so many twists and turns, it would trap the runnings of a mouse. The interchange was pretty gnarly before it was completely torn out and rebuilt in the late 80's - early 90's.

    Good one as usual! And an interesting drive up the I-25. May I suggest next time you're in Denver, visit the Wings over the Rockies Air Museum? It's on what was Lowry AFB, and among other exhibits, it has a B-52, F-14, F-4, F-111, B-1, and even a 3/4 scale X-Wing Fighter.

    As we drive on I-25 in the Front Range, we can see eastbound routes towards Limon, CO, I mean "We don't talk about Limon." Control City Freak won't like that and he suggests to sign Kansas instead.

    Weld county has changed quite dramatically since when I lived there for 9 years (back in the '90's). You could smell Greeley long before you'd arrive in Greeley. I know, I know... Old joke that I keep repeating... But it's true. 😂

    The TREX project of I-25 is great, but what if it's interesting to use the express toll lanes north of Denver? After all, it's best to use those only for rush hour and heavy traffic.

  • @InterstateKyle

    @InterstateKyle

    I have the pass for Colorado’s express lanes despite not being a state resident. I’m there quite often and the traffic is horrible plus I can get discounts on E-470 which is extremely expenses without the pass.

    The TREX project may have been named after the fact that the Denver area (as well as the rest of the eastern slope of the Rockies from about New Mexico to Alberta) was once home to T. rexes. So yeah, if you want to see T. rexes, take your time machine to Denver (or maybe Cheyenne, Billings, or Calgary), that is, unless your time machine can travel to different locations as well.

  • @InterstateKyle

    @InterstateKyle

    I think it’s named for the fact that it was a Transportation Expansion project? I could be wrong but you’re idea sounds cooler in retrospective so, yeah. Lol

    Seeing how how CDOT modernized I-25 in the Denver Metro, I'm being reminded at how little they done to widen I-70 in the city- which is still dated looking in comparison. I highly doubt that Weld County's attempt to leave Colorado for Wyoming will succeed. If it does, the population boost should be enough to give the state an extra Congressional seat- esp given that the state only has one Congressman in the House of Representatives!

    Only in the US do you get movements where a county wants to switch states. First Eastern Oregon trying to join Idaho, now Wade County trying to join Wyoming? The polarization of US politics is gonna be the death of the country.

    If Weld County joins Wyoming, the state will still only have one representative in Congress.

    That’s about right. Montana is the least populated state with an extra congressional seat.
