    Thanks for the information! I did the calculation and 86 x 0.0055" = 0.473 Is this in metric? I got bored 0.002 so I'm gonna get new set of rings and calculate it. Much appreciated 🤟

    @@randoohyama7632 bored .002? Over standard?, seems like a very strange amount, I doubt the bore would have cleaned up at .002 .055 (55 thou) x in bore diameter will land you in the ball park for ring gap in though

    @@joshdavies886 my fault it was a 0.02 just some surface rust. Forums seemed to indicate to go towards standard ring gap so thanks for the information.

    I was trying to figure out how 0.024in is still good for boost? It just has to be under the Max ring end gap size? Just trying to figure out the right ring gap for my application No.1-0.021in. No.2-0.021in. Oil (Side rail) - 0.018in. Off online document Standard Ring Size: No.1 0.300 - 0.470 mm (0.0118 - 0.0185 in.) No.2 0.350 - 0.520 mm (0.0138 - 0.0205 in.) Oil (Side rail) 0.130 - 0.450 mm (0.0051 - 0.0177 in.) Maximum ring end gap: No.1 1.07 mm (0.0421 in.) No.2 1.12 mm (0.0441 in.) Oil (Side rail) 1.05 mm (0.0413 in.)

    A good rule of thumb for nitrous/turbo applications is: Top Ring: Bore x .0055” Second Ring: .004-.008 bigger than top ring. Oil ring: .015” min

    Random question: I am Using a 2JZGE block with 2JZGE non-VVTi pistons. Want turbo eventually. What pistons did you use? And if I search, should they be GE or GTE piston rings? Thank you! 😊

    I’m using the GE non vvti pistons and rods from this engine. The only difference between the GE and GTE piston rings is the GAP. GE GAPs being smaller. You’ll want larger gaps for turbo, so personally I get the GTE and then file them to my liking. Less filing with GTE. Both GE and GTE rings will work.
