28ga vs .410 showdown Dove Hunt

First time using some of my reloads on live birds, 3/4 oz and 1/2 oz game loads. Pretty evenly matched, but for some reason I feel like I shoot the .410 with more confidence, especially with the factory 1/2 oz of #6s. Either way, small bores are every bit as lethal as a 12 or 20 gauge!

I love accurate small bore shooters. My friends are so tired of me talking about my 28 gauge, but that damn little gun is so much fun. I am going to get into reloading for it, and I'm going to pick up a 20 gauge for waterfowling. Shooting roosters within 30 yards with my 28 is so much fun.

Been reloading 28 since the start of the summer, pretty straightforward and easy. Only thing about the 28 is lack of good gun options. I limited on the duck opener yesterday with my 20 gauge M2, wish Benelli made it in a 28!

@@pc8649 I love my Mossberg SA28, they're the same guns as the Tri-Star Viper g2's I believe and I haven't had any issues with MY GUN. However, benelli does make the Ultralight and one of those fancy bastards in a 28.

At one time I had all 4 gauges of the 1100 sporting models and liked the 410 best. Also shot skeet with an 870 express 410 with a full choke. Missed a lot in the beginning but once I learned to focus on the birds it was a gas! I also favor the 410 over the 28. Confidence thing I guess. Gotta be a rich man to shoot 410 these days if you don’t reload. Great shooting, wish I had been there for the eating part when you were done. Love em on the grill after soaking in zesty Italian dressing for about 3 hours or so. Very enjoyable video, thanks.

One thing I have discovered with the .410 is that so long as your mechanics are good, you can usually get on target faster and follow-up shots are quicker as well due to the lack of recoil. Helps off-set the really small payload. I hear a lot of people using Italian dressing on doves, I will have to try it next time! I usually do a Teriyaki marinade.

Love me my 28ga. I have a Wingmaster 28ga and I love that gun. I also have three calibers in the same Beretta 687 lineup… 28, 20 and most recently the 12ga. Love my Berettas o/u’s!

I picked up a 28ga WM a few months ago and sold my Express model. The Express was basically brand new, but I had to have a WM even if it was a very used one and I’m glad I did! I shoot that gun very well and it’s so slick. But a couple weeks ago I got a lightly used Beretta 690 field gun in 20 gauge and it might be my new favorite gun!
