26 HOURS TO GET HER FLOATING
This is the hardest we will have ever worked on the hardstand to get Nakama back in the water in just one day. We need to do it quickly but we also need to do it right.

In an ideal world, building up an epoxy pad where the transducers are, so they have a flat surface to mate up to inside and out would reduce the need for a big wad of Sika.
Good job "on the hard" repairs. Soph, your gentle optimism and being able to read Slim well, will always make stressful times, much less stressful for Slim. Slim, keep up the great work, and remember to listen to Soph. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

Just a thought, but it looked like they still had the slings under you when you started up the engine ... maybe the rear sling was partially covering your engine water intake through hull. It would explain the issue. Glad to see that it worked out!!

Slim and Soph excellent Video once again. Anti foul why not. You had the time and it was a great decision. Fixing up them two leaks yourselves was a great choice as you did 200% better job than the previous boat workers who did the work. I think they were just after a quick easy money scheme. I guess you had air in engine so that's why water wasn't coming out. Thankfully you got that fix. That was a bunch of boat work you did in that short time on the hard. Looking forward to next video see you later !!

What a slog, but with fingers crossed, the seal holds, and life will be good, as you live the dream, many have, but never live it. Keep living it. I'm sure the seal problem is related to not having a perfectly flat surface for the outboard flange to seal against. Strange that these transducers do not have a proper gasket between the flange and the hull. Enjoy the journey!!

Great job guys! These sorts of hassle's do put a damper on things when your all fired up and ready to go. But hey, a good feed a cold beer, a cuddle and a nights sleep and you'll be fine! I had a Yanmar 3gm30 in my previous boat for almost 30 years and discovered that I needed to close the main seawater inlet seacock before going in the slings to avoid the problem with the raw water pump not being strong enough to draw water after a lift out!! This only happens when the impeller is a bit older. Good luck in the Kimberly!! Enjoy!!

Great work under pressure. Still think those transducers could use a little extra backing pad for the nut to bed onto but the hull looks pretty thick & the sika should seal it. Nice one

Awww, well that's nice to hear 😁 Cheers legend, looking forward to that Tassie coast!
do you know, you can actualy mount a transducer inside on top of the hull, provided the hull at the spot is solid glassfiber. you glue a small well tight to the hull surface with some sort of curing marine putty, fill it up with glycerine so that the transducer, when mounted, is wetted. that will transmit the ecco through the glassfiber almost as if it were no there. the wells came with the transducer in various variations, cut off at different angles to fit the slope of the surface. I did that on my Cutlass 27 and it works perfect.
Awesome work guys. Love your content👍👍

Ahhh so you purchased Crossroads, I looked at the advert when I ended up with another Duncanson 34 down in Philip island. Shame I missed you two when you were in Darwin but I suspect I may have been down in Melbourne while you two were passing through. Looks like you managed to end up the most expensive marina and yard in Darwin. So now you two are down south, probably Adelaide or further east by now what's the future plans? Maybe see you up in Asia? Will stalk you via Marine Traffic. Cheers Nige / Bison.

Love the content and your boat story. I'm curious to why the use of Sikaflex vs 3m 4200 assuming transducers would be replaced in the next 100 years. Hell after 2 leaks I'd be tempted to 3M 5200 it and make it a permanent part of the hull and outlive the heat death of the universe. I am slightly unfamiliar with Sika products so maybe it's an equivalent product. Just curious. Fair winds friends! Nothing better than pulling the masking tape off of a boot stripe! Good on ya! Keep on keeping on!
Well done ya lovelies. All those things that went awry did so at the best possible time yeah? Now you're as prepared as you reasonably can be. Tally ho then!!

Saildrive oil is white - that means there is a waterleak into the drive - easy to fix, but no good if you continue to use it it in that state...

Yes, no water...even where you want water...funny, in not a funny way, an airlock where you've not had an airlock. Probably want to keep a close eye on the engine temp. Thanks for the video.
Think those transducers are composite material and must be glued to the hull with epoxy, becoming a part of the hull - sikaflex or anything like that has nothing to do there. Check how people glue their "Trudesign" stuff.. I m so happy with my Trudesign installations here in Norway - Epoxy is the only answer!
There’s a wishing well in Darwin. Throw in a coin. Make a wish…… Nup. Still in Darwin. 😕
It looked like they hardly had any sika on either of the transducers. 😮
