edit: What he said, is still necessarily true. my comment explains why despite this the number of people who won a game in 7 moves may be different from the number of people who lost in 7 moves. All this because I answered with levy's initial question "how many of you..." in mind Not necessarily a person might lose or win a game in 7 moves against several people, maybe all millions of people that lost a game in 7 moves were playing against the gm in the video (not)

Yeah, that's one thing I don't like about Levy's videos. He'll play a move on the board and you think it's what the player moved but it turns out that that didn't happen. Or on the other hand he rushes through a sequence of moves and you think this is just analysis, but it turns out that this is what happened. Like here 1:52

As someone who plays the Reti, it's a transposition of a similar line I see often at my rating of around 1400 (1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 c6 3.g3 Bg4 4.Bg2...), but I've never thought to play Ne5 after Bg4 and have only ever gone Bg2 to defend and continue development, so it was very instructive to see how a game might play out this way.

Still my favorite part of the game is the middle game then the opening and endgame but I do enjoy an opening when my opponent doesn’t know what he’s doing. Edit - also my account started at 400 and I got scholars mate a lot until I was at 199 elo I got fed up of losing the game with that one trick which made me turn to KZread to deepen my understanding of chess

It is possible to win in fewer than seven moves. Ever heard of Scholar's Mate and Fool's Mate. Most newbies get checkmated in one or other of those two.

Opponent almost played into a scholar, corrected 1 move, blundered 1, checkmate came. I know scholar from grade school, but it's not a guaranteed available attack. Funny enough, I was hoping to practice endgames on that game. Guess it'll have to wait
