As a person who who grew up and was introduced to Godzilla through this film Godzilla 1998 is a more faithful and interesting Godzilla since 1954. I know it's a hot take but allow me to give some pointers on why I believe so Pointer number one: The message. In its first film Godzilla was a threat to humanity but also was killed by Humanity in its first debut same with 1998 Godzilla however I'd argue the whole nukes are bad message works better for a 1998 than it does for 1954, courtesy the first Godzilla was physically strong because it was meant to represent the strength of the atomic bomb but it never showcase the full Danger of nuclear weapons in doing so, it never showcase the domino effect of nuclear use. 1998 did it better because it's strength was fertility it might surprise you but nuclear weapons real Danger is the after effect of the radiation that radiation to this day still puts people in danger right now the bombings that happened at Japan and the stuff that happened at Chernobyl showcased this very horrible reality in which the after effects of the of the bomb can affect future Generations can cause a Devastation around the whole world very much similar to Godzilla 1998 if it's children were left unchecked future of people Generations would feel the consequence... Pointer number two: Cookie Ditto Godzillas the design for Godzilla 1998 is one of the best and most original designs for Godzilla too many that's a bad thing because of them it doesn't look like Godzilla. and you know what? in this case that's a good thing, why? because all the Godzillas are just copies of each other what really separates one Godzilla from another?... Tell me because you know what I see aside from color change and texture they're all fat they dragged their tails on the ground and have tiny arms even their dorsal plates are the same and all of them don't even swim and the cherry on top all of them recycle the same roars literally most of their roars are the same Godzilla sounds but put through a different filter, Toho still hasn't made an original Roar to this day seriously Ultima and shin Godzilla are pretty much the identical roars to all the Godzilla's before them. It's no wonder people love Godzilla 1998 and legendary because unlike a lot of the Godzilla's before legendary and TriStar Godzilla both look like actual dinosaurs and both are the peak of Godzilla design.

Let's be real this is the Godzilla that introduced Godzilla to non japanese people

"Megaguirus Godzilla's Abilities": Amphibiousness, Atomic breath, Durability, Energy absorption and projection, Physical abilities, Intelligence. "Megaguirus Godzilla's Weaknesses": Godzilla's bulk and slow movement. "Anti-Godzilla weaponry": "Dimension Tide": The Dimension Tide was introduced as a weapon within the events of the film, being a weapon capable of firing a black hole. A black hole was fired at Godzilla as the craft began to crash land back to Earth. Godzilla countered the black hole with a blast of atomic breath, which resulted in an explosion, with Godzilla vanishing as the smoke cleared, having been seemingly killed by the weapon He was later revealed to have survived. However, the weapon was effective in at least subduing him for a few days.

"GMK Godzilla's Abilities": Amphibiousness, Atomic breath, Durability, Energy absorption and projection, Sixth Sense, Gravitational Atomic breath, Physical abilities. "GMK Godzilla's Weaknesses": Internal damage. "Anti-Godzilla weaponry": "Oxygen Destroyer": Godzilla was killed by the device, but his body remained to be possessed by the restless dead of the Pacific War, unlike the original, in which he was completely disintegrated.

"Final Wars Godzilla's Abilities": Amphibiousness, Atomic breath, Energy absorption and projection, Nuclear Pulse, Physical abilities, Spiral heat ray, Durability, Intelligence. "Final Wars Godzilla's Weaknesses": Subzero temperatures, Monsters X/Keizer Ghidorah, and Modified Gigan.

"Second Showa Godzilla's Abilities": Amphibious lifestyle, atomic breath, durability, energy absorption and projection, flight, intelligence, magnetic powers, physical abilities, and regeneration. "Second Showa Godzilla's Weaknesses": Electricity and Subzero temperatures. "Anti-Godzilla weaponry": Due to Godzilla's size, super-strength, and regenerative abilities, he is invulnerable to most forms of conventional attack. However, Alien Weaponry has been shown to be strong enough to wound him with Gigan's Buzzsaw and claw arm ripping into him, and Mechagodzilla had gunned down Godzilla severely wounding him.

"Kiryu Saga Godzilla's Abilities": Amphibiousness, Atomic breath, Energy absorption and projection, Physical abilities, Durability. Kiryu Saga Godzilla's Weaknesses: Chest wound and Mothra Larvaes' Silken Cocoon. "Anti-Godzilla weaponry": MechaGodzilla: A third version of Mechagodzilla, Kiryu, appeared in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. This time, the mecha was built around the skeleton of the original Godzilla from 1954. However, DNA in the bones caused Kiryu to remember that it was once Godzilla and it went on a rampage. Once the JSDF was able to get Kiryu under control, it forced Godzilla to retreat. Godzilla and Kiryu would meet again in Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S., but this time, Mothra would intervene. Mothra demanded that Godzilla's bones (inside Kiryu) be returned to their grave. The JSDF agreed, but only after Godzilla was defeated. Ultimately, Kiryu made the final decision and returned to the sea on its own will, carrying Godzilla with him and plummeting into the ocean.

"Heisei Godzilla's Abilities": Amphibious lifestyle, atomic breath, durability, energy absorption and projection, intelligence, nuclear pulse, spiral heat ray, and Physical abilities. "Heisei Godzilla's Weaknesses:" Cadmium, Meltdown, Secondary brain, Subzero temperature. "Anti-Godzilla weaponry": Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria, Mecha-King Ghidorah, MechaGodzilla, Super X, M.O.G.U.E.R.A..

Tristar Godzilla is a giant Irradiated Marine Iguana. Height: 54 meters tall.

Universally shared weaknesses all Godzilla's from 1954 to the year 2003 have (with the exception of Godzilla 1998 species): Coca-Cola, flashing lights, radiation (ironic), basketball players, sound waves, low-level brain waves, a Claymore on what's essentially the 80s equivalent of a futuristic Roomba, Snickers. As much as I hated all of those weaknesses are Canon and Toho is a sell-out.

Here's my favorite Godzilla Incarnations from the Godzilla franchise such as "Godzilla 1954", "Second Godzilla (Showa)", "Heisei Godzilla", "Millennium Godzilla", "Megaguirus Godzilla", "GMK Godzilla", "Kiryu Saga Godzilla", "Final Wars Godzilla" and "MonsterVerse Godzilla". Species: Irradiated Prehistoric Amphibious Reptile (Showa Series(1954-1975)) and Mostly in Millennium Series (1999-2004)), Irradiated Godzillasaurus (Heisei Series (1984-1995)), Collective Spirits of War World II Victims(GMK) and Prehistoric Amphibious Reptile (Titanus Gojira) (MonsterVerse). One of the main reason people hate this movie, is because of the looks of Godzila and because it is called Godzilla. If it had some other name, nobody would care. I personally love corny cheesy 90s movies. I still like this movie!

I was raised the fuck out of godzilla an the only thing i bow too. So 1998 shit godzilla movie. But a great remake of the beast form 20000 fathoms. Hell thanks to brandon terolds review i think thats his name helped prove a lot of things about this movie i look about it had great practical effects. Dont fuckin lie to the cartoon was ass that shit was great. Now to watch 1954 again today not the american version

I loved this movie and saw it in theaters when it came out. I don't care what they call it...I am a fan of this movie.

Its a trashy treasure

There so many problems with this movie. Not only is it nothing at all like a Godzilla movie, it’s not a very good monster movie either. Majority of the characters are bland and boring and the middle finger to Siskel and Ebert is downright insulting to the late critics. To be honest, this felt more like a remake of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms than a Godzilla movie.

@@OfficialCinematicTrash they originally were trying to go for a Gorgo type of plot with a baby Godzilla taking back to the city and it’s parent going on a rampage looking for it and in the second attempt, they made Godzilla a defender of Atlantis where he fights a monster called The Griffin.

Great job on the video Pierce. Godzilla 98 is a mixed bag of the movie for me. It’s not a great adaptation of Godzilla but as a monster movie on its own it’s ok. There’s some solid sequences but it has a lot of issues. But, it did give us the iconic line “that’s a lot of fish” so I’m thanks for that. Lol.

I always liked it... I was actually a young adult when it came out, and this movie got me back into Godzilla at the time. I had been a fan growing up and had kind of lost interest over time. So yeah for me at least, it's kind of responsible for me being the fan I am today.

Trash. If it wasn't called Godzilla and was just another giant monster film it wouldn't be bad.

For me the 98 Godzilla is my favourite,looking Godzilla. The most realistic Godzilla. The story may have been a krapp.
