Subscribe to Knowledge Feed for Myth Mania Mondays, Fact Tree Tuesdays, Wildlife Wednesdays, Origin Thursdays, Fun Fact Fridays & Wildcard Weekends.
14. Surf Tent
Surfs up everyone! This concept tent was meant to provide shelter in a pinch on the beach when you wind up far from civilization or simply want to be able to roll out of bed and hit the best waves immediately. If you are a surfer you would absolutely love and need this really crazy but amazing tent.
13 2Seconds
This tent designed by Quechua features a fiberglass spring that pops open when you throw it. This means that all you have to do to pitch this tent is throw it in the air. By the time it lands it will be a fully formed tent ready for you to sleep and take shelter in. The only thing you have to do is stake it to the ground.
12. Cork Tent
This Tree House tent is 100% free of chemicals, lightweight and made of sustainable cork. It may not look so but it's actually very portable. It collapses down to the size of a rolled up yoga mat. Cork is an amazing material that is naturally insulating and helps provide a stable, comfortable temperature when inside.
11. Raindrop Tent
This tent was originally designed by protesters trying to prevent trees from being cut down. The Tree Tent has the ability to hang from a sturdy branch and provides surprisingly spacious and comfortable camping. It measures thirteen feet tall and nine feet wide and comes outfitted with a hardwood sleeping platform and round mattress that is big enough to fit two active adult environmental activists and their two children.
10. See Through Bubble
Dubbed the Bubble Tree tent this apparatus provides luxurious accommodations even in the harshest environments. The tent comes with a layer of transparent plastic for further protection. If you want some privacy there are models that are semitransparent with a totally transparent moon roof for stargazing.
9. Gigwam Tent
This cave tent features a series of teepee-style tents connected through tunnels so you can create a mini village with your family or friends while on a camping trip. Each section is designed to fit two people so you and a few other can own the village. The poles of the tent are on the inside so it makes collapsing the tent a breeze that is easier than the average tent.
8. TemperFly
This massive solar panel tent is being tested by the U.S. Army which shouldn't be a surprise. The tents thin photovoltaic cells can generate 800 watts of electricity on a 16 by 20 foot surface. This could allow soldiers to charge gadgets without the need of a generator. For army personnel this amazing tent could be a game changer. The tent is also ideal in natural disaster response situations and could help lives around the world.
7. Urban Tent
If you live in a big city but just got kicked out of your apartment and need to blend in somewhere in the city while catching a few z’s you could always grab this car tent. That way no one will know you're homeless and you will have shelter from the elements. You just have to hope that no one will look at your “car” too closely.
6. Cocoon Hanging Tent
This futuristic looking tent can hang nicely in any forest and is designed to hold two people comfortably and three people in a squeeze.
5.Concept Solar Tent
Though this Orange Concept Solar Tent never made it to full scale production it may have made a splash if it was a good tent. It uses sunlight to power the tents under floor heating, lighting, Wi-Fi and charger. Designed with those long excursions and for people who go to festivals in mind you would be the most popular group at the campground with this amazing contraption.
4. Garlic Tent
Hang garlic cloves around this tent and you officially have an area that will be vampire free for sure. It's a tent that Jonathan Harker could have used in his stay at Dracula’s castle. The tent is shaped like a giant clove of garlic which makes it very roomy and able to accommodate at least six people effectively.
3. Camo Tent
Made to blend in with all sorts of environments is a line of these fun tents. These particular ones are sure to confuse the heck out of farm animals.
2. Mongolian Yurt
This is a pretty sweet looking tent designed to look like a mongolian yurt. It's the ultimate tent fort for those trying to get past the Great Wall of China.
1. Sydney Opera House Tent
This tent is full of accommodations that make it barely a tent. It has electrically adjustable beds, hot water and heating and electric lights to go along with everything else. If you say you’ve been camping in this tent you are pretty much lying.

I have had many different types of tents...northface, 700.00...mountain hardware 400.00 Sierra 250.00 they all performed well...i just spent 10 months in the Pacific northwest, severe weather, non-stop rain, cold, high winds....i used the one man bivy from Wal-Mart, Ozark trails, 52.00....maybe the best tent ive ever used... after ten months the interior netting tore...mostly because I cooked inside...dried it out. but for 52.00 it's disposable. fly zipper broke, again, my fault. I have 40 years outdoor experience all over the world in every climate on earth. 52.00 Wal-Mart all you need. waterproof. bad ass tent.

Couple of things to consider here: 1) If you cover your body with anything that blocks moisture, you may just as well sleep out in the rain, 2) Any tent that hangs from, or must be adjacent to a tree presents an electrocution hazard in a thunderstorm. Stay dry. Stay safe.
