I didn't know how much I took for granted all these years. So glad to be living in this generation.

I'm not even 60 and I remember using an outhouse. I was too scared to go at night, so my granddad would have the chamber pot ready😮
My grandmother was born in 1889, and grew up in a Midwest city. That city pumped raw river water into homes. People had to strain and boil the water before use. She refused to drink tap water until the day she died in 1970. She always strained and boiled her water up to then before drinking or washing with it. It wasn't just the wild west that was bad it was also the towns and cities in every part of the country.
We are very lucky today!
My grandparents had ab outhouse until the mid 70s. I remember my aunt finally getting indoor plumbing in 1976. She was so proud of it. Of course you only got to use it in the nighttime. In the daytime you still used the outhouse.

I’m with you!
I don't think people back then were worried about bacteria.
In some places in the more rural areas of Australia we still have to use outhouses when travelling
Dad put up an outhouse for us in the 70s.I do not miss it.but they r still used today
2:54 they had those type of restrooms up until the 90s in Mexico, pretty sure some remotes parts of the country still use them.
For those of us with impossible hair, all the modern hair care is no more effective than old style curlers anyway!
