I agree. She was my favorite TV mom, too. I didn’t really pay much attention to her at first, focused on the kids, but in the episode where Donna kept beating Eric at HORSE, and Red was “fixing” her refrigerator, so she took a sledgehammer to the garage door opener, then told him to never mind the refrigerator, there was something wrong with the garage door opener. LOL, that was the moment I realized she was the funniest one on the show 😁🤣 Loved her ever since 😊

Red wasn't obvious to her, he was an enabler. One of his biggest running jokes was that the worse you treated Eric, the more he liked you. When was he nice to Kelso? When Kelso was openly scamming and abusing Eric. When was he nice to Donna? When she was being abusive and vindictive to Eric. Why did he like Hyde so much? Because Hyde's friendship with Eric was almost cartoonishly one-sided, and Hyde mistreated Eric like it was part of his religion. And he didn't even hide that a major factor in why he liked Jackie so much was that she was meaner to Eric than the rest of them combined. So on, so forth... You could be a serial killer, Red would help you hide the bodies if you were abusive to Eric. That's part of why Red's turn on her was so out of character- He always knew, he just made excuses about it, or intimidated everyone else into not saying a word. She didn't do anything new, or even take what she had always been doing to a new level, and she was just as mean and ugly to Eric around it, so why the paradigm shift?

akiameko1984 dude, that isn't really a running joke. In fact, he defended his son a lot, but did also let the Eric's friends mess with him because that's how teenagers are. And he's harsh with Eric, because he grew up in the 40s and 50s, and that was a common way to treat your sons to "toughen" them up. It's toxic, yes, but he was also called out for it by Kitty. Which is why it worked. Kitty let him be hard to Eric and stepped in when it was too much. And to say that Eric's friendships was abusive it stupid. Even nowadays, best friends tease the shit outta each other. And Donna did take advantage of him, but he did it to her too.

I loved this show. Every character was fleshed out, had personality and the whole group just worked well together (except Randy, he was unnecessary). You can even see that they clearly had fun with the show. Truly a masterpiece.

I enjoyed That 70's Show far more than I thought I would, but to be honest, the best thing about the show was Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith. They were awesome. They owned the scenes they were in.

She's honestly one of the best parts of the show

That laugh of hers was just....genius.

When they first ran this show I fell over laughing... It reminded me of myself and my friends... I was the the brown one... My friends were all boys and 4 of them had a mom like Kitty... and a dad like Red!! 🤣🤣🤣

This is the best family comedy ever in my opinion. It is real life like we lived in the 70s-which I did. We had the basement with old furniture to hang out in, friends dropping by-always at my mom and dad's house. My mom was kinda an early Kitty Forman. I tape this show a lot.

Love her so much we have a cat named after her, Kitty Forman.

Everyone in the cast was fantastic...Debra Jo Rupp is forever underrated. I can't see anyone being Kitty Forman but her.

Debra Jo Rupp is so iconic and fabulous.. she has such great range and sells every line… i really feel like she could play the joker or something and get an oscar… i’m watching this show again and she’s so clearly the star 🤩💜

“You know I love my family, but sometimes I just wanna get in my car and run them all over!” -Kitty Foreman I love Kitty. She’s just so adorable and has an amazing smile. She clearly does love her family and would do anything for them. I love how she sees through everything Laurie says and does but won’t out her in front of Red coz she’s his little princess. But when they’re alone, they absolutely destroy each other. And that laugh! A very attractive older woman as well

Kitty was such a well-written, well rounded character who was intelligent with a lot of depth and warmth and kindness, but who also didn't put up with any crap. Plus she was hysterical. One of my favorite episodes is when Eric shadows her at the hospital and realizes how hard her job is as a nurse and he appreciates her a lot more.
