@@kettlebellmusclegain Do you ever do KB static suitcase holds heavy 30-60 seconds for grip, oblique and abdominal strength if not you should. You can even take wire or rope and tie 2.5, 5, and 10 lb. plates around the horns and micro load instead of jumping from one bell to the next. I have gotten huge strength gains doing those. Just work one side at a time though one arm one bell.

Hey Joe! Thanks for all the good content. I’ve been having trouble deciding which kettlebell weight to start out with. For the past couple of years my workouts have been infrequent due to GI issues from previous bodybuilding. From 2014-2016 I was very fitness oriented- i lifted weights, then got into MMA. I would do an hour of a conditioning class, followed by an hour of Muay Thai and Jiu . Jitsu , sometimes followed by weightlifting. When I dropped the MMA I focused on calisthenics, dance, and yoga- dancing doesn’t sound like much to some people but when you dance 4 hours a day five times a week your core gets strong! I was doing modern dance so I did A Lot of swinging. I was eating a lot so my GI tract was stressed, and then I had some bread one day and the gluten tore up my insides. I lost 20 pounds in two weeks because of that! Since then I’ve been adamant about getting my stomach back to normal so I could work out! I wasn’t able to work out hard because of the continuous pain in my stomach. But now after so long my stomach is better and I’m ready! I’ve discovered KBs about a year ago and have been learning since so when I ready I could jump at it. For the past since months I’ve been able to do light workouts, nowhere near to what I was doing but I’ve learned the value of lighter weights. I’m an ectomorph, 5”7’ 120 now. At one point I was Deadlifting almost 200 but now I’m focused on functional training and endurance so I’m only DL 50. It sounds like little but with what I’ve been through I can’t take chances anymore. I’d rather take the slow road. So, When I get my first KB I want to focus on double handed swings for the most part, as well as some functional training- yoga, cars, and also running, biking and hopefully climbing. But everything will revolve around those DH swings! I’m confused about the weight though. Many sources say start with 35lb, and you will move up quickly. I use to work out so much, even though I’ve lost my Mass, I know from my current infrequent workouts I put on mass very easily! So I don’t want to get too light of a weight that it will only last about a month or two but it also ant to do the right thing. So, I picked up a 35lb dumbbell and a 40lb. I was able to do both smoothly, although I definitely had to put in more work on the 40 and it brought my heart rate up quicker. I’m really kind of lost, five pounds doesn’t make that much of a difference but these KBs are expensive! Also I want to make sure I treat my body right. I understand it’s best to start lighter but if it’s only going to last me as long as two months I’d rather go heavier and do less reps. Isn’t that the way to do it anyway, do half of what you can and double your ability? At least that’s what I’ve gotten from listening to Pavel. What do you think? Sorry for the long post, I looked for a way to message you privately but couldn’t find one. Hopefully others will be enlightened too. Let me know if you have any questions. Gerard

I’m also keeping in mind that my second KB will be the same weight so I can do paired KB workouts. By then the difference between 70 and 80 may also matter

Well time goes by and now it’s mostly KB and yoga. I am going to see age 62 soon, yikes 😳 So I’m kicking up the KB training big time. Question: Is this just to show different variation so those without access to weights can do some form of chest pressed or say it someone only has access to 1-16kg, 1-24kg and 1-32kg bell that they can just add a general level of press strength? I am in a weird spot with fitness currently. I prefer home workouts, I do mostly Military style calisthenics, (bw squat. Pull up, push up, sit up) . Just recently started playing with kettlebells but only have a 16 snd 24. Thinking of starting rite of passage but to be honest worried about losing size and actually strength on my current level ( I’m not a big guy but I fear being scrawny) I know through experience ami can load my military style grinders to a point where I hold about 5’10” 170-175 while staying not ripped but you can see decent cut snd abs. I figure I can do a 3 month run at it and re assess?
