    Best tip is not let the horizon line cut through face. Second is negative space above subject. Third, keep face in center of frame to reduce distortion and just crop for close ups. Awesome video!

    hi julia, plzz make ur videos in 2:1/18:9 aspect ratio, because now a days it's very common in all smartphones, most of user having android phones with 19.5:9 aspect ratio screen, 2:1/18:9 aspect ratio videos are looks bigger on screen & looks awesome, u can also see another video s related why we create video's in 2:1 aspect ratios. So, please implement this my above request because iam big fan of you, love u so much..

    Great tips and I love how you break down your decisions. Shooting with a wide is a real skill and you are great at it! The reason that there is so much less distortion on the longer edges is because the lens is round and would naturally project that shape but is being cropped by your sensor. The top and bottom of a landscape orientation are being cut off closer to the middle so we don’t see the actual edges as much. It’s also probably worth mentioning to people that shooting with a wide lens from a lower angle can be nice when your model is very thin but if your model is curvy, or on the rounder side, that would be exaggerated some.

  • @TutorialsForMom
    @TutorialsForMom11 ай бұрын

    OMG your comment about distortion in portrait vs. landscape orientation was such a hidden gem! I hadn't really considered until you pointed that out, but ALL lenses are projecting light onto a circular plane - it's just that film negatives and sensors are cropped rectangularly - so of *course* you wouldn't have as much distortion at the top (and bottom) of a landscape shot! 🤯

    The only lens that I owned from December 2019-March 2021 was 24mm 2.8 it was the best choice and challenge I ever did... You move more, and you learn how everything works you understand and appreciate what you have. Now I have Sony camera with sigma 24-70 I don't think of having a second lens at least for a year or more. I have done already some shootings and I'm impressed with the results I get from it. Ps your videos are really helpful I like how good you are at directing models what pose to get and stuff and I like that you don't encourage people into getting in new cameras, lenses.

    Distortion can be a problem with wide angles, but if I'm careful to keep the camera level I can get a closeup of the subject with a panoramic background. Still, I very seldom us a wide angle for portraits unless I want a particular emphasis. This is a good video on wide angle portraiture. I agree with everything you're saying. My go to lens is the Nikon 24-120 mm f/4 which covers the closeup head shots too.

    Wow! Absolutely love these photo tips for the 24mm focal length! I bought a the a7c and the 24mm gm a couple of months ago to document the birth of our firstborn child (who turned 3 weeks old today). I choosed the 24mm to have 1 lens for both video and photo. However, I’ve been struggling a bit with the photo part, gotten the feeling I should have gone for the 35mm instead. But thanks for this inspiration! Feels like I would stick with the 24mm, develop my photo skills, and then go for a 50mm or 85mm once our child has grown a bit bigger! Thanks again! Great channel!! 😊

    Amazing video Julia, thank you so much I really like those tips! I'm usually using 135mm focal length and quite hesitant towards wide angles but I bought 24-105mm Sony lens as a backup all-around, looking forward to have some fun and shoot some more on 24mm length of it! 😊❤️

    Thanks so much! As a portrait photographer it's a good idea to have the 24mm on a zoom lens instead. I personally don't use 24 that often so I don't have one in my kit yet, but I also was considering getting a zoom that can go to 24.

    thx Julia!I don’t know why….even though u said the widest focal length is 35mm for u, but I prefer ur 24mm footage over the 35mm. Haha! Anyway Love ur photos!

    My favourite focal lenght lens for photoshoot in a group of many photographers. You can stand closest to the model, and the others FGs behind your back.. 😂

    thank you for the tips. coming from tight lenses, its kinda hard to compose with 24, definitely going to try your tips. also what is the device with antennas mounted on your camera?

    Hello and thank you very much for this Video and these beautiful Photos! I thought there would be more deformations for Portraits at 24 mm, but obviously it seems to me that there are none or very few, no ??? I have a Canon RP and the Canon RF 50 f1.8 stm for Portraits, and I'm thinking of buying the new Canon RF 24 mm f1.8 Macro stm for Landscapes, but then I might be able to do Portraits with it this 24 mm also what do you think ? Thank you in advance for your answers, Sincerely, Philgood...
