Definitely one of the finer video’s on PM recovery, there’s a plethora of poor ones! Very honest also, I’ve looked at these sellers and always thought their prices are inflated and it’s all overrated but people keep these fools in business?! If people would only stop buying it all until they brought the prices down drastically, because your experiment yielded a 50% loss and you didn’t include your time and effort! I personally do it as a hobby and all the computer parts are for free so then it might be worth the effort, but I would never pay what they ask. New sub 👌

When acid etching you should let the hydrogen peroxide and Hcl mix sit for a couple of days or you could dissolve gold into the solution. You probably got lucky because of the amount of material and plated base metals you has.

You dont need to use sulfuric acid if youre just processing fingers. The only time you need sulfuric is when solder could have been present like when doing jewelery. And ive said in so many of my videos that its nearly imposible to make aprofit when buying fromebay. People on there ask rediculous prices

Before I do my very first process of recovering gold was wondering do I actually need a CorningWare dish between the beaker and the hot plate, I actually have bought a magnetic stirring hotplate and wondering if that makes any difference as they are made for that? It's a $250 one not just a cheap one 🤔 I realize that maybe a good for extra precautionary reasons in case of breakage but also use Basilica glass wondering if that makes a difference as well thought you might know. The extra layer may affect the magnetic stirrer

Excellent Vid. As an economist and a refiner and a prospector as well, I really appreciated your comprehensive assessment. Well done you!! There is too much BS out there on the 'value' (not) of most E-Waste.

Why could you not just soak the E-waste in Aqua Regia? That should just dissolve all the gold into solution and skip the step with the H2O2 (peroxide).

You can take sulphuric and and potassium nitrate together and distill it off to get nitric if you needed but that’s even more equipment but can safe some money. Save even more and just get the gold stuff yourself for free if you could lol

If you're buying from eBay surely you didn't just accept underweight or misrepresented items? Especially considering how eBay favours buyers when it comes to refunds or arbitration.

You can make stannous chloride by dissolving tin in hydrochloric acid which allows you to make it on the fly and no shelf life worries

Nitric acid i waaaaaay cheaper if you make it yourself via sulfuric acid (cheap) and sodium nitrate (also cheap, like 5$ a pound) and this makes quite a bit of nitric acid, but its best to do this on a larger scale and outside so that you dont have to do it again for quite a while (oh and you need a distilation apparatus, a glass one not the alchohol ones itd tear those apart.) oh ans also yo ucan just make your own stannous chloride by taking tin metal and disolving it in the hydrochloric acid, way cheaper than buying it, plus you can make as much as you need.

for those guys that cheated you . . . i hope they have the kind of life they deserve . i have probably close to 10 lbs , maybe more of a mix of trimmed tabs , pins and whatever else looked like gold from computers . i think i'll just try to sell it because this is too involved for a one time run . i know i won't buy raw materials like you did and i have no other source for the materials either . yeah . . . Ebay here i come . 🤔 now i just have to figure out how much to charge for shipping . . . man , if i only knew someone that did this on the regular , they could get a deal .
