    Oh wow, the black and white look so pretty! I was super surprised that I liked them, and they were so similar no matter the product. I have the casting craft white so I am happy that even though it is the least expensive it is still a good quality pigment. I am so new that I have not learned about temps and different thicknesses (viscosity) and have only used 2 different epoxies. I took your advice and got the Lets Resin and it's so different than what I use for furniture molds. I was brave enough to try and just finished my 1st usable mold not for furniture; what a learning experience. I did make geode knobs which was how I found your channel & group. Thank you for your tutorials and experiments, I am learning so much.

    I had to look at this video again. I have been working on 3D Blooms, which is my favorite technique. My Ocean White with Let’s Resin casting and got temperature to 40 degrees celsius came out pretty. Yes I do believe a thin coat of resin is the answer. Today I got the fast cure and looking forward to trying it out. Your white paste looks like semi opaque. Is that correct? All are remarkably identical. They are beautiful with the black background. Great video.

    I loved the experiment! I just ordered Bloom because it seems to work with any of the designs out there. I too watched Dan and saw he used a very thin layer. What I’m wondering now is the resin. I know you use fast cure but what about the others? Time for another experiment? LOL. Maybe using the 4 most popular resins you can get here in the US. I’d kill for some of Julie’s platinum but it’s toooo expensive to ship here.

    (50 grams =1 3/4 oz.) just an fyi. The purpose of the heat gun? To debubble? to warm it up? to spread it? Just curious. Also, don't forget your friend who does all black and white decor, she might want them. (They're gorgeous!) The Ocean White perhaps needed another drop or so, it seems a bit weak. Otherwise, they all did their job really well! Surprise!!! Would any resin be the same viscosity at 95 degrees or just fast cure, I'm curious on that one, like if you took your regular craft resin and warmed it like you did for these coasters, would it also be thicker viscosity like the fast cure?

  • @kdscraftcorner

    @kdscraftcorner

    10 ай бұрын

    Yes, that temperature is a sort of sweet spot in the curing process for resin to be able to bloom just enough. The difference would be that lower viscosity resins will usually take longer to reach the best temperature and take longer to heat even more, which gives you more work time. I don't have issues myself with Let's Resins regular resin, but it also starts heating really fast after it reaches 95. So that could be why Michelle has issues using it. It's not really conducive to making a tutorial showing hiw to do a bloom. Once it's at 95, you have to work fast. I sometimes don't even bother with the piping bag, I just mix it in a dollar tree paper cup, pinch it, and pour. From the point it reaches 95, I'm probably finished in about 5 minutes. I pour my clear and drop my colors. While they work, I mix my white, as soon as it's mixed, I'm drawing my circles. Then I draw my petals and clean up my mess. If I use JDiction, I seem to have a few more minutes before it gets hot. If you use a 2:1 or 3:2 casting resin, you should have even more time because they are much lower viscosity, not as low as deep pour, though. Deep pour is like water. I hope Michelle will try it with the new Let's Resin it's supposed to be a lower viscosity than their original resin. I'm actually surprised she does so well with the fast cure, because it's the thickest of them all. 🤔 BTW the heat gun helps them move. Apply a little heat without staying in 1 spot helps it get a little more liquid again so that the bloom can move.

  • @LostSiren13

    @@kdscraftcorner I rather use the paper cups myself. Easier I find than a piping bag. But can see the use of the bags too if doing dots. I am not a fan of pipettes. They’re ok but prefer the cups. As for resin, I’ve several different types depending on what I’m doing 😉

    Sorry for the delay! I use a heat gun to help start the blooming and get the resin warm and moving. My friend was texed a photo as soon as I unmolded them and she claimed them in a second LOL no surprise. We actually dropped some glitter with UV resin for the centers and top coated them with clear and they look amazing!! I've tried three other resins at 95 degrees and they were all fails, they didn't drop the white to the bottom they just didn't bloom nicely. I don't know what it is maybe the thicker viscosity? I'm not sure..

    Can I put my bloom coasters on a heat mat? Will it affect the bloom?

    Yes it will affect the bloom, you want your resin to move as long as possible.

    @glitznglitterbymichelle1 sorry, Duh, dumb Canadian lol. I am having problems finding both Black and White pigments, that won't cost me my monthly food allowance. I would like to know what to use to make pigment pastes on my own. I tried adding black art paint I to resin, but it would not cure.
