I think he wanted to hold her hand to support her during singing cos she was so nervous. But she didn't realise it and thought that he wanted her to hold her hand palm up like him. Then he retracted his hands cos it looked awkward for him sticking his hand out but at that moment it hit her and she reached out to him as as he was moving his hand away.
