Greetings and welcome to my channel's first video!
My name is Al and I'm a new grad RN who got hired into the cardiac ICU at a Tucson local hospital.
As of 7/14/2019 I have not started the job yet but I start on the 29th of this month! I'm both thrilled and terrified!
During my last semester of school I was humbled to learn that a hospital wanted to interview me for their Cardiac ICU - New Grad RN position.
I prepared by watching youtube videos and tips from different channels and websites. A few days after the interview, I got the call saying I got the job! I jumped in excitement and it was one of the proudest moments I've ever had. I hope this video can help YOU get the nursing job you want.
Also, here are the videos that I watched to prepare for my interview which helped me the most. I have also answered questions they used in their videos with my own experiences. HUGE SHOUTOUT TO THESE 2 KZreadRS!!

They cld me 3:45pm to offer me the job.😬👏🏼 I watched like 3- videos before you, but you were the only one who gave actual examples of answers. Tysm

I enjoyed your emphasis on effective therapeutic communication and how to integrate this into the workplace. I think as nursing students we only think about utilizing these techniques with patients. However, they are also helpful when approaching conflict with other members in the patient-care team. Thank you!!

Great job teaching this subject! Hope you plan on sharing your talent through teaching. I have been a nurse and now am an School Nurse Teacher. You're teaching skills will be appreciated in your nursing career. As busy bedside nurses, we are not usually accustomed to sharing our knowledge publicly. That has been my biggest challenge in my current role. I am just starting to develop feeling comfortable with my public speaking.

I only worked at a nursing home for few years, but received the job offer at an internationally recognized hospital in NY as a t-cell / bone marrow transplant clinical nurse. The nurse manager did not even asked for 2nd interview. I couldn't believe it, it only took less than 15 mins for the virtual interview. ONlY 3 questions. And, this week they sent me the request for references, and I am looking for them right now. 1- What does your day look like at your current job 2- What do you do to relieve stress 3- Why you want to work at this hospital

@@jesswhat good question, I think what helped me was having a student account (free I think) for the American association of critical care nurses - AACN. And then just learning about it and sharing that it’s important to you that you expand on your knowledge because ICU is fascinating for you

Hi Al! Could you by any chance discuss if grades matter in looking for a job? as in will the employer ask for your transcripts, how much do grades really matter, etc? I just did my first written assignment in nursing school and I thought I's at least get a high credit, an I got barely a pass, a grand total of 58.9/100... oh to my terror. its so discouraging and since I know nursing employment can be competitive.. can you provide some advice or discuss about this topic, please? thank you.

This is awesome!!! I just found out I didnt get a job because of my makeup LOL!! What the! I'm also a part time makeup artist so this was a first..I'm use to compliments in this area😂. Good feedback though!! This is an awesome video, thankyou so much!!!! What do you recommend wearing to an interview? I would think wearing professional attire rather than scrubs would be appropriate. Thankyou!!!

Rachel Byers oh no! I don’t think having makeup on should be a reason to not hire you, plenty of people wear it for interviews I would assume! And I wore a suit and tie and came with a portfolio that included a cover letter, 2-3 copies of my resume, and recommendation letters! I also got a haircut the day before to look extra sharp 🤓

J K believe in yourself! And if you still don’t... fake it til ya make it! English isn’t my first language either, but I have seen some great nurses who’s English is a little challenging for them but that doesn’t stop them. You got this, talk to yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you’re a badass. 🙌🏻 let me know how it goes!

i would think so! no need to lie, right? im also unsure if they would even ask you that. but if they do, i think just like the question that mentions "Tell me about a time that you FAILED. How did you approach and overcome the situation?" on minute 27:08, you can approach it like that!

No, I researched common questions and how to answer them. I have been in interviews after this video was made and for sure a lot of these came up in different ways. Once you find a way to answer them with knowing what kind of answer they are looking for, then you’re better off!
