24 Hours With Wires Glued To My Head...

This is footage from back in April when I got an ambulatory EEG & a Q&A section answering all your questions in more depth :)
I cover what an EEG (electroencephalogram) really is, what happens during it, tips and tricks of how to make it easier & describing my experience!
I hope this helps some of you who have upcoming procedures and gets rid of any nerves 💗

Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, KZread and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!

I wish that I saw this video before I had my 24 hour EEG. I also suffer from non-epileptic seizures (and of various types). I also have a tic disorder, but haven’t gotten the official Tourette’s or not diagnosis yet (I’ve had them since elementary school and now I’ve completed high school). Thank you for sharing your experience to help others! I’m sure that it’s appreciated by many people, both now and future generations! -Gracie 😘

I actually had the technician braid my hair. She said that was best. So she did it. I wore mine for 3 days. I thought most ambulatory EEGs were 3 days. Hope you’re doing okay Zara

Hi Zara! I’ve been diagnosed with Epilepsy since I was nine years old (I’m 16 now) and my neurologist did an EEG a couple years back and didn’t find anything, but my mom says she saw me have a seizure. Is it possible for it not to pick up smaller (absence, focal) seizures? It just worried me a bit

However I'm black so completely different hair texture... whatever glue stuff they use does so not come out with "just shampoo" I'm also in the US so idk if ours are different from you over there lol Edit: I wrote my comment at the beginning. I have non epileptic seizures due to a different chronic illness than her and mine do show up on this test. However like she said It just depends.

i was diagnosed with epilepsy at a few months of age, and I've had multiple EEGs done in my life, along with a WADA test when i was under 10 (I don't exactly remember when). I had surgery when I was 11 and my last EEG was 2 years ago and I had to keep the wires on for a WEEK, it was a pain and its more annoying when they cant find anything there because the symptoms aren't occurring whilst you're being monitored. Shame rlly, they were starting to reduce my medication after surgery and now its increasing back up and idk what's causing them to still be happening.

I will also have to look further into it but thank you for the informative video! 🥰

I have never heard it used for anxiety or panic attacks. It’s usually just measuring the misfiring of brain signals. For example, when I have tics there is the occipital lobe of my brain that signals the device because that’s where I have the brain damage. I also get seizures, and that usually sends a lot of different abnormal signals in your brain that it can pick up on. anxiety attacks are more along the lines of a mental illness than than brain damage. It can still affect your body and heart rate and stuff like that though. I have BPD and get a lot of anxiety attacks as well. I would recommend you see a psychologist who can prescribe you different medication’s to help prevent those. Finding the right meds is tough but when you do, it’s totally worth it! Also, just because I’ve never heard it used for anxiety attacks doesn’t mean That there are new protocols that allow it to. Wishing you the best!

I had to get an EEG done back in June 2020 and that was for my epelipsy and I had to go up to Dunedin (New Zealand) hospital to put them on and I had to stay in hospital do they can put it on and I had to write in the leaflet the time I had an seizure and the time it ended and I hated the EEG because I was tired and I couldn’t lay down to sleep and since I had the EEG done and since I had the hour long seizure every time I have an seizure it tires me out so bad to the point I will sleep in class (and the glue was the most annoying part of having the EEG done bc it took me 6 days to get the stupid glue outta my hair) and the glue felt like hard chew gum that’s been put for days. The worst experience of my life and I have to get an EEG again sometime in May 2022. And I’m not nervous but I hate the glue lol.
