'24 BCHS Mock Crash “They Should Be Here.”

BRADLEY CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL IN COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO CONDUCT MOCK CRASH ON APRIL 2, 2024
(Cleveland, TN)- Bradley Central High School, partnered with the 24/7 Movement, Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Bradley County Fire and Rescue, Bradley County EMS, the Bradley County Medical Examiner and LifeForce, has once again created an event to illustrate and emphasize the realities
and consequences of impaired driving. For the fourth consecutive year, students at Bradley Central High School in Cleveland will get a first-hand look at the extreme heartache and devastating effects that such choices can bring. On April 2nd, beginning at 10:00 AM, BCHS Juniors and Seniors will watch Part 1 of an original film entitled “They Should Be Here.” The film will show a glimpse into the lives of those involved. Following Part 1, students will gather around the live scene that will be located in the athletic lot at Bradley Central. Bradley County Sheriff’s Department, Bradley County Fire and Rescue, the Bradley County EMS, LifeForce, and Bradley County Medical Examiner will be involved in working the scene. Bradley Central High School’s Mock Crash is a semester-long class that utilizes a true and accurate response from all emergency personnel on school grounds as well as student participants to perform the roles of writers, organizers, actors and crash victims. When the live scene is complete, the students will watch Part 2 of “They Should Be Here,”which will highlight the aftermath of the crash. Part 2 features the participation of local funeral homes as well as Criminal Sessions Court Judge Clay Collins, Public Defender Leon Shahan and Prosecutor Aaron Chaplin. The event is taking place in hopes of reaching the students in the entire Bradley County community and making an emotional impact regarding the consequences and realities of driving under the influence of any substance. Executive Producer Lindsey Bell said, “This year the Mock Crash is next-level. With the support of the 24/7 Movement, we have been able to collaborate with Revma Media to shoot a professional-quality film which will undoubtedly aid in the emotional investment of all involved.” BCHS Principal Patrick Spangler said, “Bradley Central High School devotes a semester-long, curriculum-integrated course to this life-saving cause. It speaks to the level of commitment Bradley County Schools has to the safety and well-being of its students and to its community as a whole.” Bradley Central High School will present the Mock Crash on Tuesday, April 2 at 10 am. The event is not public, but Mix 104.1 will assist in broadcasting the production live. For further information, please contact Lindsey Smith Bell at lbell@bradleycountyschools.org.
