LM317 Adjustable Positive Voltage Regulator - Output Voltage 1.2V to 37V 1.5Amp. i explained in urdu hindi language. in this video i discussed how we can use it, design it to make adjustable power supply. most common part number LM317, LM317T, LM317AT, KA317, KA3147T LM317 N series. unlike to positive fix voltage regulators LM7805, LM7809, LM7812, LM7815, LM7818, LM7824 and negative voltage regulators LM7905, LM7908, LM7909, LM7912, LM7915, LM7918, LM7924, these adjustable regulators provide a flexible output voltage value required by the user.
just adding two resistors and one output capacitor it will provide the regulated voltage
Pinout:- this 3-Terminal Positive Adjustable Regulator have left most pin no. 1 is Adjustable Pin, Pin 2 is Output Voltage Pin and the right-most pin is +ve input voltage pin. This monolithic integrated circuit is an adjustable 3-terminal positive voltage regulator designed to supply more than 1.5A of load current with an output voltage adjustable over a 1.2 to 37V. It employs internal current limiting, thermal shut-down and safe area compensation. The LM117 & LM317-N series of adjustable 3-pin positive voltage regulators are capable of supplying in excess of 1.5 A over a 1.25-V to 37-V output range and a wide temperature range. They are exceptionally easy to use and require only two external resistors to set the output voltage. Further, both line and load regulation are better than standard fixed regulators. These offer full overload protection such as current limit, thermal overload protection and safe area protection. All overload protection circuitry remains fully functional even if the adjustment terminal is disconnected. Typically, no capacitors are needed unless the device is situated more than 6 inches from the input filter capacitors, in which case an input bypass is needed. An optional output capacitor can be added to improve transient response. The adjustment terminal can be bypassed to achieve very high ripple rejection ratios that are difficult to achieve with standard 3-terminal regulators. Because the regulator is floating and detects only the input-to-output differential voltage, supplies of several hundred volts can be regulated as long as the maximum input-to-output differential is not exceeded. That is, avoid short-circuiting the output. By connecting a fixed resistor between the adjustment pin and output, the LM117 and LM317-N can be also used as a precision current regulator. Supplies with electronic shutdown can be achieved by clamping the adjustment terminal to ground, which programs the output to 1.25 V where most loads draw little current.

    Sir ji you are great and your teaching methods are very simple easy. Sir maine bhi lm317 Wala ek circuit bnaya tha jiski input voltage 24v Se 60v tak rakkni hai output voltage 5v leni hai lekin lm317 heat hota hai maine is circuit me 3055 transistor bhi lagaya huwa hai kya kiya jaye lm317 heat na ho output circit me ek 5v relay ek ir sensor or ek Atmege328P ki microcontroller IC lagani hai dc to 3phase AC circuit ke liye please help
