I bought one of these a few months ago, and there has been a few firmware updates which is good, rather than the usual "it just about works, so it's good enough" attitude that most Chinese manufacturers use. The unit will power off the USB when updating, so it's a safer option not to have the unit powered at the same time as connected to the PC. Thanks for showing how to change the language on the PC software to English. I got the instructions on how to do updates off the EEVblog and naturally assumed that the PC software was Chinese only. Finally, I too have a Weller TCP type soldering Iron. I couldn't afford the entire station, so I just bought the Iron and the stand spring and built my own PSU (24V 50VA transformer). That was nearly 38 years ago and still working well with no problems whatsoever.

That's one sweet unit, I've been eye balling one since SDG electronics did a review on it but I've never ordered from Aliexpress. I was hoping that banggood would start carrying these since I'm more comfortable ordering through them. Side note: Why is it that guys have these huge equipment stacks and extensive knowledge but never post original designs or developmental work? It's confusing as to why one would need so much test equipment when they don't make anything to test, verifying lab standards isn't that interesting but is important. By no means am I saying this to criticize or demean, I simply wish the knowledge you guys have would be spread on this wonderful platform we have here. I'm sure you hold some incredible information in that brain of yours!

@@TonyAlbus I ordered a few of the KSGER’s a few years ago… And even though I’ve got half a dozen super high-end professional soldiering stations… I find myself using the KSGER more often. It’s just incredibly great for what it is and for what it costs. For $50 it might not be 100% equal… but it’s ALMOST as good as some of my units that cost 20 times more.

You can remove at least smaller tips without needing to use a silicone gripper, that's what the pear-shaped hole on the top left of the stand is for. You can put the tip through the upper bit of the hole so the bulge is on the other side, then move it down slightly so that the sides of the hole grip the bulge on the tip, then pull the handle back and the tip comes out and falls into the folded bit of the stand. You'll probably have to steady the stand with your hand when you do it - it's not heavy enough to do it one-handed - but it's really helpful for changing tips on the fly. I assume this is intentional...

I'm ecstatic that these new fangled soldering irons are becoming mainstream, yes, I also used Weller and hakko for 35 + yrs....now, I have the ts-100, ts-80, the T-12 series, and next I'll be buying this system...they are all very versatile and some can run off battery packs etc.......the closest was the butane powered irons, but they weren't temperature controlled. I wish these systems were available 20 yrs ago when I was heavily in the TV Repair bizz and needed the portability of the ts-80-100 systems. Good video..!!

What is the potential at the tip end of the AiXun T3AS, the same as on the KSGER and Aifen? All these stations have pulse power. It is not clear why there are many complaints about AiXun, that the sting has potential. If all stations with a switching power supply have potential on the tip relative to ground, but everyone is unhappy with AiXun. Is there more potential there? Or is there more current?

Have you compared AiXun T3AS and Aifen A9 Pro, which is better? Aifen A9 Pro supports 3 handles 115, 210, 245. And AiXun T3A only 245, T12, for 115 and 210 you need AiXun T3BS, you need to buy 2 or even 3 soldering irons to have 3 handles. Is AiXun's 200W claimed power much better than Aifen's 120W claimed power?

I am in the market for a new soldering station though, since I want to replace my almost 40 years old Weller finally. Not because it's broken but I want a temperature controlled device. I am in doubt between the Hakko FX-888D and the Weller WE1010. Both are in the same price range. Which would you recommend for electronics work?

You should really do the new T12 tips just give them a try! Go for a Fx-951 if you decide hakko but I think this unit could beat out the hakko (70w Hakko vs 200w iron) the hakko also won't get any upgrades on the software front they're known to have a non intuitive UI too. But the hakko has the reliability and reputation. If you wanted to go all out I'd go for jbc but if you just need an iron that works exceptionally well that's proved reliable. The FX 951 without a doubt is a great option and the stand is nice too added bonus

Anyone having trouble using original JBC tips on this station? I wonder if the original tips didn't damage it. I bought the station and immediately ordered tips from TME. I only tested the ones from aixun and switched to the original JBC. The station has been operating less than two weeks and has died. In an extensive topic on evvblog, a user wrote that the station "buzzes" when heating the original JBC tips, and when using those from aixun, the "buzz" does not occur. Has anyone logged a problem like this?🤔🤔🤔

That "weird" power cable is for China. Australian plugs look the same (pin layout) but the cable orientation is never like that. The cable would be exiting the plug at the top, if it was plugged into an AU wall socket. Our ground pin is on the bottom. I'm sure I've read that China has their earth pin at the top.

Also Australian standard require L and N pins to be coated a certain length. It's been a while since I read up on the specs, so I may be not 100% correct.

16:55 is really the type of thing what makes or breaks it for me. I have no issues using Chinese made tools, or clone tools etc, but when you have software which isn't clearly written in your native language, or allows you to easily change it. It would make sense to show some nice flags (so no need to read any text, in any language to set the language ...) to select between English and Chinese at the first usage. Both in the support software and on the station itself. Since it seems it's always the biggest problem to make these things work ... i have not found any malware or trojans in thee software downloaded from the official website, but indeed you are right, when in doubt always good to run it in a VM or sandbox. Thanks

This is what drives me crazy about these "programmable" solder stations. Too many weird little issues. Very aesthetically pleasing looking solder station but - just give me a single temp control knob and a light indicating that it's heating and I'm good - keep it simple.

You know what, i agree.. altough i like a lot the upgrade option. but less complacated controls would be even better.

@@TonyAlbus I gave the video a like anyway, Haha, But yeah I just prefer simple controls - I have a cheap Tilswall station that does just fine. Turn it on and 22 seconds later she is ready to go.

Stay away from these soldering stations, you have to buy separate stations for different handles. Just buy the JBC they are more expensive but you have to use their tips anyway. If you have to buy make sure to buy the T245 station there are much more choice of tips. Do not buy the C210.

Design of this thing is not good compared to good JBC clones. And nice big screen is not so much required at all for soldering iron. Here they just tried to copy T12 kits design without understanding that makes JBC design so good in real life.

@@TonyAlbus Tony, you can check SDG video on improved stand. But separate stand still need to be hefty, and original JBC design with all in one made it easy to work since first second of usage.
