That's the true test of parental love especially if you have a working class home and cramped for space. Of course for Phil, space is not a problem. I understand Phil's mental hardship as it relates to hi s medical issues. He's has such a huge fan base and he's always been a performance monster, I said MONSTER! It's a difficult row to hoe, all he really wants to be is the unbeatable, uncompromising force he's always been in the past. It's been difficult for myself also, seemingly being forced to regress into the movements of a child, unlearning all the competence that you've had for so many years.

This is really nice bass you invented for "Inside Out". Very melodic and smooth esp on higher slides and octaves. I picked up a dark brown Yamaha bass that looks similar to the one you played in the video. I just have to wear a loose 2-piece black suit with the longer jacket. (Johnny Cash) and play this bass on stage. A very good look you had in that video.

What I love about your channel, and you, Lee, is your sincere and total positivity. With nothing but good to say about the myriad musicians you’ve played with over the decades, have you just forgotten the inevitable a-holes, egotists and prima donnas, successfully avoided them, or just chose to ignore them? Whichever, it’s fun to listen to you reminisce about the wonderful, talented musicians and others you’ve encountered throughout your career. It’s a soothing antidote to the pervasive negativity that has regrettably become the norm these days. For me, watching old videos of live performances and seeing you standing back there, quietly doing your thing without any “hey look at me” fanfare, is both comforting and inspiring. You let your talent speak for itself. Thanks for just being you and sharing yourself with us.

I wonder if you can tell a bit about what it feels like being on the stage and playing the song live? It must be very special to listen to the world’s best songs and then at the same time realise that you are actually playing the song your self together with the world’s best musicians. And to share that moment with the all people in the audience. It must be a very very special feeling, I imagine.

Hi Leland, the Inside out (1990) Leland Sklar cam live performance is one of my faves, watching you do your bass part is SO GOOD

As a hobbyist bass player.....I understand that "feel" is essential to really give justice to a song.

One of my favorite Phil songs. You make it look so effortless. You must have an immeasurable amount of synapses devoted to hundreds and hundreds of different songs, with all the artists you have played with! Unreal!

Ive enjoyed this channel so much since i found it. I follow Lee on Insta (i left FB but followed him there as well). Just amazing to watch a first call professional give 100% at all times. And be intelligent and informed in real life as well. Im a guitarist who loves to play bass as much as guitar and Lee really inspires me to commit to the song and serve it. Thanks so much Lee!

Every now and again it looks like you're not in front of your computer screen but under the swirling lights, with fifty thousand screamers in front of you. You dig deep, it's no surprise you're in demand. Thanks and stay safe.

So good! Thank you, Mr. Sklar! This jam takes me back. I remember this song word-for-word and immediately sang along. I’m looking forward to your book!
