Grew up in the Appalachian mountains. 🙋🏼‍♀️ Lots of folklore and warnings from elders about going in the woods at night. I wasn’t allowed in the woods after dark because we lived on the edge of a forest. Our family burial ground was on the mountain adjacent to us and I always heard weird things over there. Looking up in the trees was something we were told not to do when we traveled in the woods. One thing I also learned growing up in the woods…There are feral people in the mountains, and people who never integrated into society. If you’re deep enough in the woods, They’ll stalk you, and watch you. Most won’t hurt you. But some will. It’s terrifying when you feel like you’re being watched in the middle of nowhere. My family lived across a holler from each other and I’d run across as fast as I could at night time. Lol

Hey native Appalachian here, the “feral people” myth is actually an incredibly harmful stereotype that’s been spread for centuries as a way to oppress the poorer population of the Appalachian mountains. I know it’s fun to theorize and spread ghost stories and whatnot but the Appalachian mountains are already heavily stereotyped within media (just look at the Wrong Turn franchise or Deliverance) so be careful when talking about “feral people” because it’s just a long running stereotype to oppress poor people

I love Appalachian horror, the folklore and mythology of the area is fascinating and has so much spooky stuff. It really makes you think, what exactly, did the Native Americans of the area see? As Jade Moon points out bellow, my mentioning of skinwalkers (feels wrong typing that) was fundamentally incorrect, as they are only spoken about by the Navajo people's (I'll still mention that I very much enjoy hearing stories about them for whatever reason). The point that a bunch of the spooky stuff that happens in places like Appalachia probably has a corresponding story by the Native people of that area still fascinates me, so I guess I'll just look into it more so I don't spread misinformation in the future and to counteract my own ignorance.

Hi, im wondering about this, but they sound from the u.k. Few houses here have cellars or crawlspaces. They would usually have to be quite old to have underfloor spaces. This type of flooring looks like laminated wood, which is usually placed on lining and then below that is tiles or concrete. So other than another person kncking from behind a couch maybe, I can't see an explanation.

I get awful chills every time I hear things about Appalachia. I live near a Native American Reservation, in a tiny, heavily wooded town about 10 min from the Appalachian trail, with trails all over town that connect to it. Whenever I'm in the woods I'm constantly scanning the tree line (mainly bc I've heard too many horror stories about people hiding in the woods) to make sure I'm alone but I definitely won't be doing that anymore. I have yet to see anything and I intend on keeping it that way

For those who haven’t seen the full video of the “ghost using the wife’s voice” I highly suggest watching it. What makes it creepy is that the wife is out of town and that voice was heard the night before. The guy proved that the wife was out of town (like 1200 miles away) in the full video and then later that night he heard the same voice again imitating his wife.

I've had the same thing happen to my sister many years ago. Except, we would see her walk into rooms, have her back turned at us, etc... the scariest thing was what made aunt experienced. She heard someone making tea in the kitchen 12am at night, she walked out to check who it was and she saw my sis in a white gown (which she was wearing that night) and her hair was covering her face. At the time my sis had long hair so yeah. She tried to call out to her like, "hey, what are you making?" but no answer. She stood there for a bit while she listened to the spoon steering into the tea and she asked the same question while calling her name to no reply... she went back into her room after that, she decided not to disturb her thinking she was in a bad mood. The next morning, she confronted my sis about it and my sis said she was in her room the entire time and never remembered making any tea.😢 that one was one if the fucking scariest I ever heard. Most of the time, these spirits or, demonic entities at least, are quite dangerous.

I slept walked a few times as a kid and was always unresponsive to my parents attempts to interact with me (and didn't remember the experience in the morning), but I definitely don't sleep walk anymore (thank goodness bc I'd probably scare my kids 😂). Just trying to find a logical explanation first and foremost. Either way her making tea is frightening bc of the possibility of fire.

The Appalachian TikToks hit home in a variety of ways. My family is from the Ozarks and the Bayou. The stories are pretty creepy but when you live there or stay there it's way worse. You better respect the locals and local wildlife. Nothing fun comes from failing to take precautions no matter how bizarre.

Everything out here feels OLD out here, like ancient. and lemme tell you the first time I saw a deer walking home from work, I nearly shat my pants! I live in the heart of rural Appalachia and as fun as ghost stories are and spooky little warnings, the concept of don’t be in the woods after dark is ridiculous. Many people leave their houses to hunt before the sun even rises. Plenty of people party on the mountain ridges all throughout the night. The mountains are as safe as you are prepared. The idea of not looking into the woods is probably some of the most dangerous advice simply due to the wildlife you should be on the look out for. I love Loey, and I know she’s probably not aware, but Abbey Sobota is a snake oil salesman as far as Appalachian lore goes.

I’m not sure if the girl with the book is actually promoting a book or not. I think it’s weird she isn’t more concerned about a MISSING FRIEND. Like if my friend were missing I would post on every social media platform with their name and picture. Not being like oh guys my friend is missing so I’ll just publish his journal instead. Like of course it’s interesting hearing the story but it just seems insensitive in someways.

She has an older son who was conveniently missing these go rounds, and the thing is...her earlier videos were kinda convincing, but now her framing is off (centered on the activity when she's supposedly filming herself), and who sleeps with lights on? A: a person who can't afford a night vision camera yet, and wants to make SURE something is seen. I think she was trying too hard to make the videos creepier and creepier, so she jumped the shark.

Loey, I have had a paranormal experience back in the winter of 2019 . Around 2am when I was trying to fall asleep, I first felt my duvet suddenly fly off me and fall on the floor.....now I thought I subconsciously kicked it off myself. So I grab it and cover myself again. Feeling a little confused I try to fall asleep again. Then within 2 or 3 minutes after the incident I get pulled violently to the end of my bed. I was AWAKE when I got dragged to the end of the bed, so I know it wasn't like a dream or something. I was sh** scared. I started praying out loud as I was alone in the house. Then an hour later I'm exhausted and I finally fall asleep.....but I get woken up by some kind of pressure on my back (as I was sleeping with the front of my body on the bed) and my whole body paralyzed. That carried out for at least 3 to 5 minutes (which might not seem that long but it felt like eternity). I know what a lot of people reading this would say its 'sleep paralysis' but I felt something breathing near my ear while I felt totally paralyzed. Its left me totally paranoid and constantly look over my shoulders.

Funny thing I know about the if you say something is haunted enough times at a resale shop SOMEONE WILL BUY IT. I worked at a entertainMart (it’s like GameStop and blockbuster had a baby) but we bought this really dirty and old doll. My boss had planned to clean it up to look nicer. I told my boss I could sell that doll in a week without having to clean her up by saying it was haunted the last day of the week it was sold. My boss was in utter disbelief. Weirdly enough when the doll was bought I felt sad that it was leaving. For some reason I had a slight attachment to the doll and sometimes I wonder if because I said it was haunted so many times that a spirit actually decided the doll was a nice home.

9:17 Honestly this just sounds like someone took the concept of playing The Sims and spun it as a horror story from the perspective of a Sim that gained sentience. The illusion of "Free will" & "forgetting what you were doing when you went into a room" references how Sims have autonomy queues but they can be influenced and canceled by the player. The "higher entities/beings" are literally the players. The "strange things that happen around you" being when players freeze time to edit stuff around a sim either to satisfy a build they're doing or when folks purposefully mess with sims for fun. Sounds like an interesting book concept. I wonder if the "friend's" name initials will be C & M.. C...M... Si..Em.. Si-ems... Sims. (:

I’m so sorry but I laughed when the ghost was imitating his gfs voice and he asked Alexa to turn on all lights, she didn’t understand, and he just goes, “really? 😐” 😂 😂 😂

If you respect the land and spirits, there usually isn't much to worry about. I'm at the tall end of Appalachia in Alabama. I live on a mountain in a grove of trees.

hey loey ! the video about the head statue thing in the case was a repost from the original creator. I follow the original creator, his name is sylas dean ! and he has A LOT of creepy videos, he talks about true crime, tells creepy stories, talks about the creepiest things, and also has a podcast (: you should check more of his videos out, they're pretty creepy and a few have kept me up for multiple nights just because of how hauntingly scary they are.....his account is everything

5:42 I have a paranormal experience like this. I woke up one morning a few years ago and heard faint knocking on the other side of my bedroom wall (for context, on the other side of the wall I heard knocking from is the interior of my garage and the attic above my bed). I was curious, so I started knocking back. It knocked three times, I knocked three times. It knocked once, I knocked once. It went back and forth until it just stopped. I recorded most of it. It happened for about 10 minutes. The terrifying thing is, my mom was in the garage while this happened. I asked her about it, she said she didn’t hear or say a thing. I showed it to her, and she looked genuinely terrified and was speechless. She tried to explain it, but she couldn’t.

I put one of my haunted dolls in a glass cabinet after I moved, and the boy didn't like that. I had all sorts of dreams and I heard sounds of footsteps and doors opening and closing. Then I changed his position outside of the cabinet and it all stopped. Maybe some spirits just hate to be behind a glass.

That one of the dummy's eyes opening and opening the glass door and then closing its' eyes after. That one is weird as there was no way that could have opened on its' own. Gotta be the spirit of the dummy doll.
