@@PresNGoThat Sand color is perfect for the black accents. If not for Slate Gray, I’m sure I’d go this route. On another note, here in Michigan those 3.0’s are becoming impossible to source… And for good reason Ha! Great review brother!👊🏽💯

Would go turbo-diesel with the Silverado 1500 at elevation on the Colorado Front Range (where I live); especially considering it's less than a $1K (about $800) upgrade over the 5.3 V8.

Yeah the 3.0 duramax is perfect for us Coloradans.

How is the new ten speed automatic gearbox? Is it reliable? Because I heard on KZread that is problematic!? Some owners complaign about it? Like it would be the worse of them all!? Thank you kindly, beautiful video!

I don’t have a lot of insight on issues that others have reported but of those I know who own a Silverado or Sierra with the new 10 speed they have all been very happy with them.

Been a good truck like to have it for the next 20 years like my last truck with the 5.3

I don’t believe the owner has a dash cam, all the footage through the windshield was done with an iPhone 15pro max.

What's the highway MPG

My friend says he gets 25-27mpg on the highway. Obviously here in CO that varies based on where you are driving with the mountains but he said that’s what he typically gets on the highway.

The 01 5.3 first gen was the best 5.3 277hp kind of ironic that the first gen 3.0 diesel is 277hp and ne t gen was 305hp

I'm impressed with the way GM developed this motor and how quiet and smooth it is. You said " like every other diesel today...quiet" I disagree. Stand next to a Ford or Stelantis (Cummins) and you'll need ear plugs for the knock and a respirator for the smoke and stink. Not true on the Duramax.

True this is one of the quietest diesel motors. I hope this motor continues to get put into more GM products bc it is such a great little workhorse.

It's basically the same diesel engine BMW uses (M57/N57 diesel) in some of their vehicles. Much better emissions system design than most other American vehicles.

I wish it was matte black instead of gloss lol.

100% agree, gloss black is too hard to keep looking clean. This truck would look 🔥 with matte black in place of all the gloss black.

Duratracs are just extremely noisy tires, especially if you don't rotate them every 5k miles.

Never had Duratracs on one of my own vehicles before. My favorite tires I’ve put on my own truck so far are the Falken Wildpeak AT3s. Great tire!

I get 19 miles a gal. In my 5.3 gas truck. Why would I go diesel? The 5.3 has 355 horse power, Why would I go 305 horse power with the diesel?

You shoudn't go diesel unless you want to go diesel. Duramax 460 lb-ft torque vs 5.3 V8 383 lb-ft. Better tuning potential with a turbo-diesel if desired. 26-33 MPG (4WD/2WD) highway MPG with Duramax. Personally, I would value horsepower more in a sports car...

I agree, if your use case is towing I would recommend the diesel over the 5.3 for the higher torque and at much lower rpm. The turbo is also a big deal where I am at altitude. 5.3 is a great motor though if it meets your needs.

This engine makes 120 lbft more torque than your engine. Not even the 6.2 can match it in torque. A non-Trail Boss truck with the Duramax easily gets 27-30 mpg highway.

@@joshtaylor1416 The 3.0 Dmax is a better towing engine than the 5.3. The 5.3 just doesn't have the torque so you need the 10-speed and NHT max tow package, but that means giving up the Z71 option.

I believe if you use your personal hotspot from your phone and tie the truck to that hotspot, the large google maps will work as if you have paid for the subscription.
