Just added this blue dial Rolex Sky-Dweller to my watch collection. Guess what I paid?! 😱

Alright, so I just got my got my new stainless steel Sky-Dweller with blue dial, but guess where I didn't get it from? Obviously, not from the authorized dealer and we already know why.
It's no secret. It's probably one of the hardest pieces to get right now from them. You know, unless you're going for a Rainbow Daytona, which is almost impossible, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that the stainless steel, blue dial Sky-Dweller is probably harder to get right now than a Daytona white dial. I mean, you ask anybody that has the “plug” at the retailers and they're gonna say that their connection inside says, “You can't get the blue dial.”
Listen, I sat around and waited for a long time. Initially, when this watch was released, I remember when I saw the steel Sky-Dwellers, I thought to myself, “Man, I can't wait to be able to get one under $10,000 to be able to wear it daily.
But clearly that has not happened. It hasn't been the case. They've been strong over retail and they've just been unattainable. The only one that's been a little bit weaker is the white dial, but I don't know. It doesn't really do it for me, but now I have finally taken a dive into the deep end.
Took a little time to convince me because even though I'm a re-seller and I resell, it still kind of hurts to buy something for yourself and pay the premium price, so you sit there and hope that magically this deal is gonna magically come by, but it doesn't really happen.
So look, I got a decent deal. I bought it at a price that pretty much, maybe I'll lose a little bit. Maybe I'll make the minimum, but the idea was I just had to have it and I couldn't wait anymore because sitting around and hoping to get one for these unrealistic prices of $15,000, $17,000, $18,000 is just not gonna happen. The demand is so high right now in the blue that it's simply stunning.
So I actually just picked it up right now and I'm super excited. I mean, I got it at a good deal, super clean, box, papers, the whole nine. I'm one of those that when I buy a watch, I have to immediately wear it, like I don't know how people can stand or actually hold off that long and buy the watch and take it in the bag in the box. I can't do that! It's gotta go on my wrist and perhaps maybe the watch that I brought is going in the box. I'm that type of guy.
But back to the blue. Yes, the blue is easily five thousand dollars more than the black and look, the black is nice. I like it. It doesn't bother me one bit. I think it's a good looking piece. However, it just doesn't strike as much as the blue. The blue has that color that just pops and they know what they're doing with this, you know?
They know what they're doing when they're coming out with the blue and restricting the market. If they would have been a dime a dozen, then obviously it wouldn't be that special because you would see so many people with it on.
So that being said, I'm gonna go ahead and confess that six months ago, I would have probably have never bought this watch, but it's been wearing down on me. Every time that I see one I say, “Man, it's a good looking watch!” You know?
I hate the fact that it almost costs what a white gold Sky-Dweller can cost nowadays. You could probably buy one right now, white gold Sky-Dweller, could cost you low $30's, even $30. I mean, if you catch somebody that's desperate, maybe even high $20's. But, it's crazy though. Same thing as the Daytona, where the Daytona Ceramic is almost costing what you can get a white gold one for. You know, definitely there's more value in the white gold, but the ceramic Daytona is the way to go. It just looks cooler and this blue dial, I mean at least for right now the romance is still fresh.
So I love the watch and I'm happy to finally have it.

Lovely watch, it suits you. I really wanted one a year ago but when I tried it on I realized how big and chunky it is. My wrist isn't big enough. I bought an Omega Globemaster blue dial in steel instead for a fraction of the price and loving it as you also don't see many around. Great video by the way.
Jordan wearing one at Kobe's Memorial shouldn't hurt the value.

I waited a couple of years to get my blue SD. I absolutely love it and it came in time for Christmas. The only reason I got a shot at buying it, is because I have built a 10’year relationship with my AD and have purchased over 30 pieces to include a few really high end ones such as a Patek 5990. I absolutely love the SD and the blue really sets it off.

Rose gold with rhodium dial is the best looking on an oyster strap... but it is a stunning watch!
I had one with blue dial. The fluted bezel is mesmerizing when light hits it.
I managed to buy mine at retail in 2018. I think you should definitely keep it regardless of what you paid for it, it’s a stunning watch and it’s rare.

Great job showing the blue dial in your vid, Eric! Got a call.from my AD mon for the blue. Grabbed it tues even though I already had the black. Long story short the black is going off to a new home, no flip here even though i understand it's tempting. The pops alot more

Hey Eric, great post. My cousin (Miami Johnny who lives down there) and I just bought identical black dial sky dwellers (all stainless). Love them. The blue is amazing. But crazy expensive. I paid 17k for mine (new, full box and papers, from a friend with small wrists). Damn dude, you have me now wanting the blue! Keep up great posts.

Been on the list for it, delivery 2 to 3yrs given that deliveries of the blue do not increase, was offered the white and black one within 3 to 6 months, but that's in Europe Also being told by the AD that they simply get more SS Daytonas per delivery than SkyD in general, so much for demand and supply

I would take a sky dweller over a Daytona anyday
Beautiful watch. I believe it’s extremely overvalued but it is a beautiful watch. I’ve always liked the Sky-Dwellers in particular the rose gold version. The problem is that you could get a rose gold Royal Oak for the same price which I feel is the better watch. But I would definitely consider a black or blue steel SkyD if and when the price comes down to a more reasonable 15-16. If I were to spend 22-23k on a steel Rolex it would have to be the white ceramic Daytona since I believe this is the one that will do better in the long run. The steel Daytonas have always been limited and while the steel SkyDwellers are heavily limited today that may not always be the case.

I just bought this wonderful beautiful blue Skydweller from an AD, but have to admit I was very lucky. I just happened to walk into a dealer in Asia, and they had a black and a blue in their show case. It took me approximately half a second to buy the blue one (although the black was a handsome specimen as well). You're right it is special and different. And I agree, the blue on blue, is what truly sets this beauty aside from the rest of the Rolexes. I say: Keep it!

Beautiful watch. Congrats mr erik. I just got my steel black dial skydweller and I love it. Got at retail. The blue one for me was impossible to get. But I feel the black face skydweller is a great everyday watch for work and weekends. I wish they would have made the clasp on the bracket line the submariner but oh well.

Love the blue Sky Dweller, but at the price point you can get a Blancpain FF Bathy, or even the bigger brother chrono version... it a DJ + GMT which is awesome.... and really love the Platinum version.

I feel your pain. Been wanting a blue Stainless SD since it was released. I have connections too and tried to get a deal. Schemings and conniving, calling in favors, begging for over two years. No dice. Finally bit the bullet and paid the dam premium. Prices have slipped a little as of late but no one is giving these things away. You can get a unworn fullset blue dial SD for 20.5k if you really look hard and have cash. Nice watch you should really think about keeping it. This Rolex will be one that attains cult status and astronomical future prices

Eric you are the best! You could rent the watch to some trustworthy clients or friends of yours after a while...make good money and when you are totally bored with it sell it. This way you will have massive profit. For example : I come to you and say, look I love the watch but maybe I buy and after a few days I'll be bored so I rent it from you for 3000 dollars for 4 days or 5 you decide. After that period I will know if I really want it or not.

Just got my own blue sky dweller, love it, love it,love it. Was shopping for a day date, but when I saw the blue sky dweller, knew I had to have it.
Paying over retail for Rolex Sports watches gives me sleepless nights but there is something about this I really like. Eric is a very cool cat and I enjoy all his videos. I like he bought a watch he loves purely for enjoyment and not for economic reasons. I hope you get a buzz every time you look at your Skydweller for the time.

I have just agreed to purchase this watch from my AD, I have been on the waiting list just 6 months, with only a solitary Panerai purchase to my name. I never expected to get a call, never mind in just 6 months. I am super excited to collect it when the lock down ends... 😁. Next stop, Aquanaut or Nautilus... 😉
