    MicroLED is the future. But currently... it's not quite on the level of mainstream high-end in terms of features, affordability and even size. I'm all for a 75 inch MicroLED... maybe 85 inch max, but that would be really pushing the limits of would still make for a good viewing experience in my living room.

  • @hanes2

    @hanes2

    The thing with MicroLED and LED walls is that it’s cheaper to produre at larger sizes because the pixel pitch is larger… so a 4K at 270” is cheaper than a 4K at 110”. But I assume for the home consumer/prosumer, companies like Samsung will overcharge for the size anyway

  • @thenonexistinghero

    @thenonexistinghero

    Жыл бұрын

    @@hanes2 Rather than it cheaper to produce for MicroLED, I think the tech simply isn't quite there yet to make 4K microLED into anything smaller. That being said, MiniLED still has some ways to go to be practically indistuingishable from OLED. But OLED isn't an option for me at all. I like to use my TV with high-brightness, use it a lot and use it as a monitor. I would destroy any OLED in less than 3 years with my viewing behaviour and that's pretty much the best case scenario. Most likely I'd have permanent burn-in after 1.5 to 2 years. And nope, I'm not willing to adjust my viewing behaviour just for marginally better image quality.

I'm not saying that most people will experience burn in from OLED, I am saying that there's no such thing as an OLED that won't burn in long before the 7+ years I expect a TV to last for me. I know how I use a TV and I know that buying an OLED for myself is a stupid waste of money.

    8k is going to both make it more expensive and difficult to manufacture. Considering 8k is pointless and pretty dead right now, it's better walk before you can run - especially considering the pixel pitch is the biggest issue processes are facing right now. Personally, I just want them to ramp up production effectivley as possible to at least get closer to having a consumer grade microLED TV that is miniaturised and more reasonably priced than a whole wall that costs as much as a house. It will he a while until that happens, but 8k is the setback this tech just doesn't need right now.

  • @DM-rc4yu

    @DM-rc4yu they are pointless if you consider that people will be interested when the sizes are reasonable along with the price, not a 100" screen. I'd also imagine that at sizes such as this, you'd be sitting at a decent distance to fully appreciate the image. That's like holding a 6.8" phone screen an inch away from your face. Regardless, the 8k format is pretty dead right now and hasn't taken off.
