As a person being born here with immigrant parents, it's hard to adapt here in the United States. Most people don't have the opportunity to learn English, and it's tough. I got that opportunity. I was lucky enough to learn English in my second year of elementary school with help from the most best teacher that could ever exist. Now, I am still learning English, but I get to help my parents understand it.
@KristinRyans
8 ай бұрын
Come on.. that just sounds like complete bs! You can’t possibly be born in a certain country and not learn the main language! You are after all surrounded by it, even if you’re in an immigrant community there’s still media, TV, school (that is in english) unless you specifically enrol in a foreign school…plus the bilingual kids usually tend to speak the county’s main language more, whenever they’re not being specifically approached in the other language. They tend to lean more on the main language of the country not the language spoken in their home. For example i was a teacher in a Bulgarian school in America, and in class we would speak in bulgarian, but before after and between classes kids would communicate in english between each other. How can you possibly be born in a country and live there for 20+ years and be so shielded from the main language that it feels like foreign ??? What kind of isolated community do you live in?

After watching the trailer, I really felt bad for her as she couldn't do anything to go back to school, considering of her older age that is beyond her apparently younger age. Though it is important to not make them feel discouraged, and that there is always other pathways.

As a half viet with a Vietnamese mum, my mum also has a very thick accent which causes a lot of embarrassment she feels because she also migrated as an adult which caused a lot discrimination because she was always singled out on the way to English classes with her sister all because of the fact she was asian. People don’t realise how much they struggle due to the miscommunication of accents. It’s nice to know people take notice of the struggles they go through migrating to places like the US, Australia, Canada and more mainly caused by language barrier.

This video reminds me of how I was struggling to learn English when I was young. It was very difficult for me because I had to help my family at the same time since they didn't know the culture and the language. On top of that, people were making fun of me and bullying me in school. After watching this video, I feel grateful that I was able to learn English in public school because I came at younger age.
Okay, I know that girls postures are supposed to be smaller than men, but people are saying "You look like you're 25" when she's the shortest, not to mention, Anh is taller than her, but Anhs younger.
This is so sweet I love how she Protected her best friend or should I say her family:)

the way Mihn speaks in English, reminds me of my mom when she cries and talks in English. I don't like to see people cry, because It'll make me cry. But this is probably the only Dhar Man video, that made me cry more than 2 times. Mihn Is really smart and good in what she does but with broken English. That's exactly like my mom, but my mom is Cambodian/Khmer. It's not fair that other people make fun of other people's cultures and how they communicate in their language. I really loved this video. Even the food "Bahn Mi", I recognize it! Bahn Mi is similar to our Khmer Sandwiches called "Num Pang." And I think that the acting and the crying is amazing. Love it!

The hiring guy is on point. There are other people who are better for the job that also have to feel a family. You don't feel bad for someone because they aren't the fit for the job,

😮😮😮😮 she said sorry no English 😮😮😮😮
I really enjoyed this. I’m glad it involved people from a different country that speaks a different language. It’s very inspiring and shows us to not give up learning another language no matter how hard it can be.
This would be such a good ad for Duolingo 😂
