It wasn’t about survival as such but saving the ones they loved. Newt killed himself to save the memories of the ones he loved so he wouldn’t forget them and Teresa died to save Thomas instead.

I thought the main theme of the entire trilogy was memory. from the beginning in the maze, they all started with their past lost and completely forgotten. memory of past actions before the maze were just as important if you remember teresa and Thomas. friendship then comes to play in the death cure, until the last part where memory comes back. Newt's letter shows Thomas about memories of the maze and journey over the course of the books. also, newt died because he didn't want to forget like before. He didn't want to turn all cranky and stuff. losing your memories was the scariest thing and death seemed far better.

Undoubtedly one of the most underrated trilogies in cinema, it had incredible potential to be a gigantic franchise, having several movies, series, spinoffs and much more. It's a very rich universe that it had, and it still has the potential to be an amazing franchise. I hope that one day it returns, or that we could see something from Maze Runner again in theaters.

2 fun facts. A:Thomas Brodie-sangster actually wrote Newts letter and read it to Dylan while filming the letter scene B:Thomas Brodie-sangster kept Newts jacket and still wears it even though there are holes in the back from the cables they used for some scenes

at first i thought maze runner was like all the normal movies i first saw maze runner on a dvd and after the movie i was hooked my grandma tok me to see the 2nd maze runner and i was happy then 2018 comes and here maze runner ends the trilogy made a lightin me and i will miss this very very much thanks to all the actor and the directors maze runner is always in out hearts alay -zeeby woodhouse

The movie is so different as the book, but i like it, really

I always cry whenever I watch this scene. The emotional power that the music and the letter itself contains, it's a lot for me to handle. I can watch his death like a normal person, although I still feel sad, but no matter how hard I try, I always cry whenever this scene starts playing. Goodbye, Newt. We love you, and we always will, even if you're just a fictional character.

Around 6:45 onwards when that sadness you feel becomes a physical pain and you really start sobbing.

i'm so sad although this is just a movie... i've been a fan since 2015, reading the books and watching the first movie... which i loved very much. i also watched the scorch trials, waited for the death cure since 2016... also it kinda helped me throughout my hard times and i really loved this series. it broke my heart when newt died. and that letter... :(

The best for last maze runner ever maze has its end if i could do all over again and i wouldn't change a thing ~ newt

If people could understand why Teresa tried to do it all, the world would fairly bloom to be an better place to breathe in. It's rare, purely rare that some people could actually comprehend the motive behind her seemingly-evil deed, and supports her. It's never easy... finding a reason why you should support and love her for whatever she had done, is not easy. We, who support her, do understand all the hate against her and naturally we say nothing as we know some people are weak at thinking and they do it in totally unalike ways to look at things from different perspectives. Just like it was her own way of doing it. _Aiding humanity_ -- is all our girl ever wanted to do, but uh in a WiCKeD way ;( that's the one damn thing I felt very disturbing and kept balking at. Trsa definitely had to sacrifice *a lot* to do what she wished to. And so, she never does deserve a thing of what some people think that she does!

I have been told I have looked like newt a lot so one Halloween I dressed up as him from the start of the Death Cure. I even wrote the letter out and when I was writing it, I was listening to the music the whole time, brought tears to my eyes

Idk why but this soundtrack made me miss Alby, Chuck, Winston and Newt so much more. Especially Winston and Newt. The squad is not the same with out them

I saw this film in the cinema 3x

After listening to this ...it reminded me of the whole journey of the characters of maze runner series. It makes us sad not only because the series had an end but because it the last movie took all the characters away from us ,some died ,some sacrificed...but They died for Thomas . The characters, story , sacrifice, journey and yes the END will forever be in our hearts.
