What an amazing day to experience the life of a lumberjack in the BIG Cedar Country!
Your partner hangs in there, He deserve all the encouragement you can give him.
Love the encouragement with Mitch! Loved following along this shift when you were doubling up! Thank you for the behind the scenes 😊😊🙏🙏
The saw mill blade/band saw sharpener will love that rock….
A few nice Cedars in this quarter, nice work Bjarne
Excellent reel footage Bjarne, cripes that blasting rock slug embedded halfway up the Cedar was trippy. Chur for the real Lumberjacks reel.
Wow that first one didn't want to go, but it managed to save out pretty nice 👍👍
Best office in the world💯😎
A 6 footer on fire 80 feet up was my largest. I ended up with the 5 wedges I had with me and a bunch of birch ones cut close by. A 61 Husky with a 28 inch bar did the deed. 40 years ago I still have that saw. Thanks for this post of memories my friend. Big cedar can sure make for an interesting day eh.
Brilliant job again, Bjarne. Keep making them fall💯🫡💯 Greetings King Spang's Road Norway!
Impressive work and footage and some beautiful country
That was a good one, thank you.
Pretty wild looking trees Bjarne . :)
Wow those are some big mountains up there!
It's really nice to watch a faller who is so deliberate in his movements.
Damn, that was a big tree... Greetings from North Carolina.

Funny thing about the wedges ... in Toba Inlet 1972 at the Weldwood camp, one of the fallers had the misfortune of the tree rocking back hard on his wedge stack, spitting out out a wedge like a hockey puck slap shot into his face.....poor fella lost some teeth that day along with some blood...so yes kids its a real thing and Bjarne has the fix.

HONTE A VOUS !
Always enjoy watching you deal with some real challenges. A quick foot hold I'll use is just punch a hole in the stump and stick my wedge in it. Tipped at a bit of an angle. The trick I'd like to see is putting those 3 strips of flagging up :) Why not paint? Be safe!!

Bjarne your young logging buddy running 🏃♂️ with sugar in his pockets with a stihl chainsaw 😊! Words from logger Lennie 😊😊.
Pretty DAMN Cold outside. I'll be at home today.
I was hoping that the trees would win one.
300, 400 Years to grow , only took dumbo 1 hour max to cut it
what a shame to see such a beautiful tree die.
God JOB!
Why did You have to kill this beauty?
Your such a huge inspiration to me Bjarne. Id love to do this line of work someday, just working on getting more trigger time under my belt. How did you get into timber falling? Seems real tough to get into without close personal or familial connections .

Go to a sawmill. Tell em ya wanna get on a woods crew. You’ll start snatching and pullin. But in time you’ll have a saw in your hands, limbing and trimming, then bucking and cutting. Gotta put in your time like anything else.
Not using to seeing your bands I watched a lot before Christmas. Sure looks like good idea keep from splintering!
Jarne B is in awesome shape... Great Vid👍👍👍👍
What axe pattern weight combo are you utilizing? National, Rafter, Miner 4-5lbs
I'd love to know where you're working, I live on Vancouver Island, so close to home for me!
It’s sad to see a beautiful old tree getting cut down just for views 😢😢
After you cut a block do the have a crew that comes in and paints what to fly out as a lot of the cedar is junk.
Why would you cut it down..?
I'm guessing the 3 straps are to hold it together when it hits the ground?
Aujourd'hui, dans cette vidéo, je vous présente la taille d'entretien sur un Séquoia.

I know that we need the wood, but I would like to see a law worldwide that states that if you did not plant it, YOU CAN NOT CUT IT DOWN in hopes to save what little is left of the old-growth wood.

kills me knowing that if they dont get downed and sent to the mill..they'll just rot away..not much good to any one at that point. timber harvest makes use of trees...and they will eventualy grow back..the forest is a busy place regarding new growth.

@dws5951 yes I do but what bothers me is what happened all the export why couldn'tn that maurfacturd here save the growth for down the road that way I think ever just about everyone would be happy. But yes I made stumps for 30 years and and always did think about it. It's not like going to go anywhere. I guess one has to find a balance 🤷 maybe tax the raw logs export tax 🤷
Why not leave the little ones as regen trees if they're not in the way.
This is messed up leave this big trees alone for gods sakes

Everything has a life cycle. These won't stay standing. They will eventually fall on their own. We might as well make beautiful furniture out of cedar than let it sink into ground rotting or become petrified after it falls naturally

The undercut is not deep enough.
Wow that first one ! Pain in the butt .
This is sickening destruction of old growth forest and wildlife habitat. They should return to building cast iron buildings and steel frame houses.
@dws5951
3 ай бұрын
DUHHH cast iron was a structural component in early "hi rise" structures, ocean going ships etc..steel structural materials..same story, utilized in the sky scraper era, to this day along with engineered concrete matrixes.....wood is an easily "on site" modified/shaped construction material for residential housing ... cutting live timber for process to building materials is a far better use than leaving trees to peak maturity followed by inevitable rot and collapse ...so stop your tree hugging mentality and understand the cycles that forests go through ..from complete devastation (mount St Helens style) to vibrant new growth..be patient as nature works thro' the regrowth process.

That how you learn! Hands on. On the next 1 he will do better
1800-1925 houses in the U.S. were nearly all cast iron or steel, not wood. Buildings facades were likewise cast iron or steel. We need to return to cast iron and steel buildings.
Obvious your partner hasn’t learned the “ cut out some steps” trick. A lot to learn. Introduce your partner, a short 2 minute interview would be nice.

The undercut was a little too small, that’s why we had to jack so much. It wasn’t about needing a longer bar. On a big tree like this it’s actually uncommon to have your cuts match perfectly, there’s usually some cleaning out of the undercut after you’ve knocked the big pieces out. 🤙
