    Kenchan, what is the ultimate IC card that can be use in both Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka beside JR Pass, especially for foreigner/tourist? there's so many type of JR Pass available, what do you suggest is the best (economic) type if we only wants to travel those four regions?

    @@tokyokenchan Haha ! Appreciate your dedication to making the best content for us! A little bit off topic KenChan but I have a question about car rentals in Tokyo area... This will be my 3rd time in Tokyo so I have done most of the tourist things. My question for you is this: do you think it is worth it for me to rent a car so I can travel to some areas outside of Tokyo that are only accessible by car? Or do you think it is not worth it because I would have to park my rental at the hotel for 4 days? I also figure that driving in and around Tokyo there might be a lot of traffic as well?! I just wanted to know your thoughts on this topic! Thanks as always KenChan!

  • @tokyokenchan

    @tokyokenchan

    Жыл бұрын

    @ANIMALFRIES san (I wish I knew your name to call you :) ) renting car is a great idea, but it's not something I would recommend to anybody. If you come back to Tokyo at night, that cost a lot for parking, and traffic can be bad as you mentioned. It might be better to get just for a day and return at night if you prefer to do so. Also, you can get rental car near the destination you like to visit. Your travel experience might be influenced by how much you can get used to driving in Tokyo as we drove the other side from the US. At least, I went into the other lane when I drove in California first time. But that can be just me. :) I understand your point that many places in Japan are only accessible by car, or inconvenient to go by bus.

    Thank you for watching the video and your kind comment. Most of the footages were taken in mid October, and the Okazaki part I’m having Starbucks is from November. The train museum part is from March, all in 2022. Hope it helps. :)

    This is such a great video which has me so excited to visit Kyoto! Your videos are one of my favorite things on youtube because you show a lot of things that many people wouldn’t think of. I’m going to Kyoto around new years, will the colors in nature still be like this?

    Thank you for your kind message and compliment on the video. The color of nature might be a little more brown as the winter wind blow away the red and yellow leaves, but Kyoto is covered with the New Years' decorations and atmosphere, so you are visiting in a good festive time! I wish you the best trip to Kyoto! 🎉

    Have you visited Fushima Inari at night? I’m told the main pathway is illuminated, and the main shrine is illuminated. It sounds inviting (and less crowded!) but I haven’t seen photos or video.

    No I haven't. It's a little scary for me to visit shrines at night unless it's in the city center. haha. But it seems they do some illumination at night time to time.

  • @tokyokenchan

    Thank you Jacob san! If you put importance on access to different spots, either business hotels near Kyoto Station or around Shijo Kawaramachi area would be good as it's the start of bus route. The price changes so much recently so you might find some deals depends on the day you visit. Something comes up in my mind is, Super Hotel Kyoto Kawaramachi, Comfort Hotel Kyoto Toji, I see it around $50-80 for 2 in some dates in January. Sorry I couldn't be much of help!

    Hey Ken love your videos with insightful details. I read it's not encouraged to travel to Japan from 29 Dec to 2 Jan especially in big cities as many people will take leave and go back to their hometowns. Besides that, some restaurants and tourist attractions may not open and hotels are expensive too. appreciate your advise. Thanks.

  • @tokyokenchan

    Thank you for watching and your comment. Yes, the major concern is the hotel price and the super crowded trains. So as long as you can find hotel rooms and staying in Tokyo or Kyoto, it's a good time to visit as you can see the festive atmosphere of end of the year and near year. But it gets difficult if you try to move inter cities, or go to popular destinations such as skiing or hot-springs. Small stores may close from the end of year to new year, but most major stores close only on Jan 1, some on 2nd too. :) I wish you the best trip to Japan.
