I'm here for the cat
Look at you being all timely and topical.
Oh my gosh, love the cat
Watching it now for later... 😍 Happy New Year 🎆📸
Appreciate this Jared, thanks for sharing.
That is a heckin' cute kitty!
Jared, I used your tips this year and I got amazing results. Thank you so much. I really love your channel.
I was thinking of shooting fireworks next week. Perfect timing!
I'll be photographing fireworks tomorrow, can't wait.
Thanks for sharing., Jared!!!
Thanks for these tips! I photographed some fireworks last night and got great results thanks to your video.
Very timely even for 2020. Love your videos and I learn more with each one. Thanks.
This video helped me get some great fireworks shots this 4th of July. Thank you. Made for a seamless evening of shooting here in Colorado in the rocky mountains during the show.
The video I never knew I needed. Hello next vlog
SUPER helpful! The tip about getting to a spot early came in handy as well as many others. I got there two hours early and once it got packed a lady tried to put her chair directly in front of my camera. Don't worry I asked/told her to move and she did.
Worked a treat thanks!
Perfect timing for this video, I could never for the likes of me take good fireworks photo ! LOL! Thank You Jared ! :)

Just finish our Canada Day celebrations fireworks, remembered your tips which really help me a lot this time. Finally, got some good shots of the fireworks, or least better than the ones I had before :) :)
Thank you so SO much for this video and your advice. Based on your tips, I shot fireworks last night and I am so happy with the results!! Thanks again and again for sharing your knowledge and advice, I’ve learned so much from you and your awesome videos!
I just saw the video for My Gear Vault, what a great idea.
love the Tuxedo's
Thanks for the tips man! You have helped me grow alot!
Awesome brother
I have 3 opportunities over the next 3 days to make my first attempt at shooting fireworks. I've watched Fro's video twice now and feel confident I can at least do an adequate job tonight...and hope to improve each night. I really appreciate the down-to-earth explanations. I've been making a decent living doing real estate photography for the past 2 years. Now I'm branching out to have some fun with my cameras. Just added a new D500 to compliment my other Nikon DX bodies.. Thanks to Fro for all the great advice on all aspects of photography. Always very helpful!
thank you so much for this vid.....i went to the macys fourth of july show in NY last year and it was madness (lots of people) but amazing. Going to the DC one this fourth. Great timing for this vid.
I really dig your advice man.... I panicked a bit and flopped settings throughout, but I grabbed an acceptable amount of firework burst, man. Thanks a ton!
Thank you so much for sharing these tips! It do help a lot to me!! ^^
Great tips! Used your older youtube's and had a great time getting nice shots!
10 seconds works well, too man. Love your stuff and look forward to more on this.
I know this is a kinda old video, but it's still relavant. In the past when I've tried photographing fireworks I usually get a jumbled mess. Using these tips I got great shots. Thanks!
Fire stuff!!!!
Great tips as always. There is noise reduction settings on DSLRs and should be turned off. This will prevent the camera from processing images and you can get the next shot quicker
Very common sense stuff, but at the same time, I've never thought about doing any of the tips you mentioned. I never knew I needed a video on this. Thanks for the tips!! Another good video for Mr. Froknows.
Awesomeness
I live within walking distance of the resort where our fireworks show takes place, but I always go down early in the morning, and stake out my spot. I use a Canon 18-55mm kit lens, and I get great shots!
Great tips! Nice guns too💪
Could’ve used this yesterday 😭
ok, as an aspiring photographer, this was actually really helpful. I will try my best to use these tips (and get some better equipment) because this is really in-depth. thank you, and new subscriber here!
Thanks Jared for posting these tips before Canada Day. It was extremely useful for me last night For me I wound up using Iso 64 (D850) F8-F11 24-70mm lens between 44mm and 70mm i focused on the first firework as it went off, and left lens on that spot most of the rest of the night, some adjustment from time to time. In 20 minutes wound up with 178 photos to mess around with on bulb mode. Oh and i used Matrix metering / full scene meter, not spot. (haven't seen anyone specifically say what to use for metering tbh) For us the water was free if you looked like you were going to pass out infront of a paramedic... just sayin :)
Wow, I literally watched your older video about fireworks last night 🤯
Thanks for the tips Jared, a great help. Just wondered, do you shoot fireworks on live view or look through the view finder?
I failed at the 16-B last night as I shot my first fireworks display. I was intending to go 24mm on my 24-70 but did not notice it was at 35mm since I was quite nervous haha. Dang I missed some of them money shots of those high up big ass explosions. I got some pretty good ones though so it was fine but definitely remembering my fuck up last night as to not fuck up again. lol. Thanks for the tips.
Fro...thanks for the great video!! My wife and I will be out tomorrow night for her to try out her new D500. Can you let me know what white balance you were using? I don't remember hearing you talk about it in the video...thanks!
Do you remember those older videos? What's the first video of mine you ever saw?

It was the fireworks videos from 2014!
Love the cat!!!!
"Horizontical..."🤣🤣🤣
Great video! What's the black box on the bottom left on your desk in the background at the intro? Is that an external storage drive?
Thank you.
I just got a Nikon 24-85 F 2.8 D lens for my 7100. But I also think my Tamron 16-300 mm would be good too. The Tamron has a bit of a wider angle if I need it. What do you think?
For those with Olympus EM cameras there are Live Composite and Live Bulb modes that are excellent for fireworks. Go and check them out!
Excellent tutorial! I one thing additional I do which can be risky is take off the camera lens filter. Some times the glare interferes
$27 bottled water. Thats no lie in Florida.
Hey, i like your videos! I want to shoot Portrait with fireworks in the background the great gatsby style, can you suggest settings and equipment so i can prepare.
I think you really missed your calling ......stand up comedy hahaha Thanks for the firework shooting tips
I don't think I heard a word you said for the first 2 minutes. All I wanted to do was steal your cat and squish him n love him
Hi Jared I am following you for a while now, do you have any videos on Leica cameras too
I have a Canon m50 and several m series lenses, the focus ring has no labeling on them so i can't pre-focus near infinity. I wondered about focusing on any clouds, if available, before the fireworks started would work, or if you have other suggestions? Although this can focus fast, I'm not confident that it will be able to auto focus on the first firework explosion but that may be an option. Thanks for all your tips.
Wait not a “what’s in my gear bag video” ? Good video timely video fro, lots of valuable info here!!
recently heard one of the daily fros, episode 138, and i think a video on the exposure triangle, deep dive would be good :) thankss
Any tips if I’m just shooting on a 24MM Gmaster with an A7R4? I am shooting fireworks for NYE off the river in Chicago at a party to utilize the photos for my art portfolio and I have very little photography experience. Any advice would be humbly appreciated.
4th of July is almost here (again). My Canon G7X is ready to capture some pretty explosions. Settings are pretty much good to go, just need to scout out a good location for the show here.

Interesting and relevant.
The the Men in Black reference, lol. The best of the best with honors,
I have a question. Can I use a instax mini 9 camera to take pictures of the fireworks
Great tips, thanks. I do have a question, where i'm going to shoot no tripods of any kind are allowed, any tips for shooting without tripod?
@ThePolomarco
5 жыл бұрын
The thing is that you need a very slow shutter speed. Due to this, using your hands is usually not a good option. One option would be put you camera in any table maybe or any other place where the camera can shot this low shutter speed without movement. If you definitely have no place to put your camera still, use a lens with vibration reduction and keep the camera steady as you can. Good luck!

@@ThePolomarco Many thanks, Luis! It turned out better than expected.
Thats great info brother.. as always your videos are worth watching
Holy shit I forgot about the band Explosions in the Sky. Thanks for the video mate!
I love the cat. "Stop talking. When you talk, your hands move. I want them on my noggin! And by the way, who the hell are you talking TO?! People are stupid."
Great content. One thing to add. If you’re on tripod, switch off your OS or IS.
Amazing video But what the hell is horizontical?

I missed a bunch of fireworks because I have my shutter speed at like 10-30 seconds during last night new years eve...
Watching this fireworks series chronicled my experience over the past few years. All of your suggestions are spot on, I couldn't find a fault anywhere. You made mention of combining fireworks in Photoshop, I offer this suggestion with that in mind. I apply timelapse controls to the image capture. Based on experience I select my shutter speed. I set my intervalometer with the shortest dark time available. Once the show starts I crop and adjust exposure and then start the timelapse. You can have enough material to layer the different levels of fireworks and create a composite. This has the benefit of allowing you to watch the show or use a second camera to capture the audience. If a link is allowed, here is my favourite shot of Canada Day in Toronto from Centre Island. www.flickr.com/photos/richard_adams/27992192472 Excellent and timly video, thank you very much.
Photographing Children !!!! I don't know about the USA but here in the Uk the parents of that child you intend to photograph will go ballistic. Although it's not against the law to photograph children in the Uk it's not advisable
Horizontical?
I want to know how the cat lost an eye
