I'm sure if I made a video about that region I'd have a different angle than his but I'm just commending Damon for generally keeping neutrality and being willing to hear both sides out. Specifically I like that he finds the humanity in both sides and is able to separate the people from the politics while also keeping the politics' role in the conflict in mind.

I think that generalizing all ultra Orthodox Jews is hard since I come from a community that is not closed off, welcomes everyone, encourages its people to explore and learn by experience and interaction. Closing off the community from the rest of the world does not happen in every ultra orthodox community. Aside from that, I’ve been to Israel many times so it’s really cool to finally get the other side of the story. This seriously has been so fascinating!

sepa 100 If you want to hear another side of the story, then the last thing you have to do is to listent to this video. Do you think it is legitimate to compare Arab residents in villages with places of entertainment and touristic attraction in Israel? Do you really think that Israelis live this way every day? Visit the southern and northern periphery where most Israelis live and say Hi to children of Sderot and surrounding communities, and to the farmers whose fields were burned by Hamas' gas balloons. animals were also burned alive.

As an Orthodox Jew who’s definitely considering leaving I found this so interesting. Sim was really good at explaining everything. I’m glad you see the good side of Shabbat. I also think a lot of the Americans you hear on the streets are students studying there after high school, not just Birthright. Cool video. Sim seems like a cool kid.

If anyone has more questions about anything in the video or otherwise, I'd be happy to answer some of them. I spent a couple of years living in Jerusalem, first in a yeshiva (rabbinical school) to become an Orthodox rabbi, and then as a citizen after making aliya (becoming a citizen) and working as a core staff member for a Birthright trip provider. I also worked as an industrial mashgiach (kosher certification rabbi) in the United States for a bit. Almost half of the scenes of this video were shot a couple of block from my apartment. This was my life, my reality. For a while. Two years ago, I had a series of epiphanies that led to a full-on crisis of faith. My entire world opened up. Since then, I've moved back to Seattle and have been working on building a new life in the "real world", and it's definitely been a ride. Damon, thank you for putting this out. It's crazy seeing something so intimately familiar from an outsider's angle: both yours, and now mine.

Loved your Palestine & Israel videos but its sad that you mostly focused on Ashkenazi jews (european jews) in israel when Mizrahi jews could have showed you their rich middle eastern culture anyways I understand its so hard to try to fit EVERYTHING into short yt videos and *you really did a GOOD job overall to cover the people's life on both sides, love you and wishing peace for both peoples !*

Mizrahi voices are invisible in Europe and America also, as Ashkenazi Jews are the loudest voices as if everything revolves around them. They also try to speak for all Jews through groups like JVP, IfNotNow when they spread lies about Israel and erase Mizrahi voices. White people seek out opinions of similar looking groups...
