21. MOVING ON UP - West Ham United - The Billy Bonds Years - 1993-1994 Part 1 of 6
Part 21 of a series charting the history of West Ham United during the four and a half years of Billy Bonds' management. 100TH EPISODE OF THE COMPLETE PROJECT
It's a time of massive changes at West Ham. Not just in the playing staff, with Dale Gordon, Simon Webster, Paul Mitchell, Keith Rowland and Gerry Peyton coming in. Kevin Keen goes to Wolves for £600,000. Big changes to the infrastructure too as the South Bank is demolished to make way for The Bobby Moore Stand. On the pitch The Hammers find it hard going with just five points from their opening seven matches. Something has to give. It's time to cash in on Julian Dicks. He goes to Liverpool with Marsh and Burrows coming the other way, and Lee Chapman arrives from a brief spell at Portsmouth. All three have an immediate impact as West Ham pull off a shock 2-0 win at title-chasing Blackburn. Is this a blip, or the dawn of a new era?

Another great episode. Dicks' move was the right thing to do at that time. Once Souness left Liverpool his days were numbered and thankfully he came back to where he belonged.
So supreme The era The hopes, the dreams , the music , the 90s and the football . An honesty about football was prominent. A beautiful time to be alive My adventure from leaving school started and this has really taken me back ⚒️❤️⚒️
Oh how I have missed you Rob absolutely brilliant brother
Just so good it's ridiculous. As usual these programmes put me right back at every game. Thank you Robert. ♥️⚒️
Congrats on 100th episode. Brilliant as usual, brilliant memories, brilliant music, brilliant team what is there not to like? I went to the pre-season at Leyton Orient and had undercover football hooligan cops follow me home! Those were the days! COYI
Quality videos and soundtrack as always mcfc

Great day at Blackburn. We only had 500 tickets, with Ewood being rebuilt.Fantastic support for 90 minutes from the corner of that old wooden stand.Great days.
Congratulations on the 100th episode……it’s just been brilliant
Wonderful work from the resident Bolton fan! Congratulations on your 100th 🥳
Those pony kits were the nuts. Esp when worn with pony boots with the tongue out. :)
I was there at the Opening game against Wimbledon in the reception area. When all he'll broke loose. John Fashanu doing all his karate shite in the centre circle. Truly a Welcome to the Premiership game ⚒️

That was the only home match I missed all season as I was on holiday in Spain. As we flew back on the Monday after hearing the result I thought "Here comes another nine-month relegation battle!" I couldn't stand Mike Marsh - his heart just wasn't at Upton Park but it was Lee Chapman who got the terrible stick - a lot of it undeserved (sorry for spoilers!)
Catching up with these. I thought those Pony kits were, well... pony. Much preferred the bubbles kit which came after it. That being said, I did have this season's away shirt. They were cut big anyway but on a skinny 7/8 year old mine looked like a tent! Congratulations on the century.
Had a season ticket in 93/94. So many goalless draws. No wingers used - dreadful entertainment. I'll never ever forgive David Seaman for strangling Morley - disgraceful! Congratulations on your 100th edition, Robert.
Happy 100th, Rob. 🎉

Still waiting for my telegram from David Moyes
Rather coincidentally, on the day this video was published on KZread, it was ‘lovable East End rogue’, Arry’s 77th birthday.

Loveable East End rogue my arse. Scheming East End shyster more like. It's going to be hard for me to do The Redknapp years because these vids are inspired by love and respect for the managers.

@@westhamhistorymy comment, in quotation marks, was tongue in cheek as that’s how many see him, but we all know the truth. His short clip on KZread when he was referred to as a ‘wheeler dealer’ shows the true side of his personality. The mask slipped on that occasion 😂

Yes I got the subtlety of the comment. It really annoys me that after being on I'm a celeb, everyone loves him but he systematically tried to bankrupt every club he managed. If he hadn't left west ham when he did we would have gone the same way. Not to mention what he did to Bonzo. Grrr. Rant over.
Was it ever revealed what Hamman wrote on the wall ?

Stupid stuff like "wimbledon are going down" and "John fashanu is a w*nker" all very true but nonetheless vandalism ans Peter Storrie who was conducting a pre-match stadium tour had to do a quick about-turn
