A lot of us actually do just that. The small percentage of people that stay in that lane is one of the reason that road rage exists.

Props to the ST, but I don't think this is a proper race due to traffic ahead of them. Should get a rematch with lesser traffic.

True, more of chasing than racing. I'd be up for it. I've done flybys back and forth with him a few times but traffic has always been too heavy to do a legit line up. To be fair this is the closest race I've had so far, they seem really close on power to weight.

It's not a proper race but still gives a gauge of performance. You can see the ST pulling on the GT at higher speed when the GT is fullthrottle.

Love the ST but I own the GT. Two totally different vehicles but both amazing. Thanks for sharing.

I love the look of the Explorer ST.

Almost got a Taurus sho .. love the 3.0 3.5 tt Ecoboost motor . Friend has a Taurus sho and we got the stinger gt awd bone stock , friends Taurus sho mild tune can keep up with our stinger from a dig but drops off a little after legal speeds. Love them all!

I have owend two SHOs. See video on my channel. Great cars but the ecoboost engines are not always great. My 2013 on the video was my baby, I changed the PTU fluid (Ford will tell you it's lifetime fluid but that is BS) changed my oil regularly and at around 74k miles left turbo started to leak. The water pumps are internal and are weak, and timing chain can have issues. Great cars when running right. But that put me off owning a newer Ford car. Now I have a 2016 Accord CoupeV6 Touring and a 2018 GenesisG80 Sport AWD. Much happier now haha

The 3.5 (cyclone) is a lot different then the 3.0(nano) which is a 2.7l v6 that's bored to 3L. Good engines!

That Ford Explorer ST can move, that Kia Stinger can definitely move as well.

G70 owner here, I personally was considering an explorer st before buying my g70 but I just couldn't resist the looks of the genesis. That being said, the ST only needs a tune to be as fast, if not faster than a stock g70, thus making it faster than a stock stinger since the g70 is already faster stock for stock than the stinger. Don't tell the kia bois that the g70 is faster though or they'll have an aneurism

The G70 is impressive running almost a full second fast than a stock ST and half a second quicker than the stinger GT. On a 93 octane tune and intercooler only I went from a 13.5 to a 12.4 quarter mile. Then going to E50 put me into the 11s without any additional parts. All of these new D.I. turbo cars are crazy compared to what was called fast a decade ago. I just played with a hellcat on the highway this morning like it was nothing special. Genesis definitely makes great looking cars but I needed 3 rows and the GV80 sticker is $20k above the ST.

@prvideos8229 yeah the g70 is 200-300lbs lighter than the stinger. It's not a huge difference but it gives the g70 a 4.5sec 0-60 whereas the stinger is a 4.7sec 0-60. But don't tell the stinger guys, it really gets their britches in a bunch lol

Transmission tuning is a bit more aggressive on RWD's Stinger than it is for the G70, which is why they're a tad bit faster than the equivalent RWD G70. AWD G70 is definitely faster than the equivalent Stinger AWD. And weight difference is about 150lbs which is negligible.

Tbh.. that might be my stinger. Lmao. Where was this recorded? Florida?

Gotta downshift and floor it before switching lanes to pass. Works almost every time

Love my '22 ST. Currently just have a Corsa Exhaust, nothing special. I came across a Stinger on a open road, we both punched and that Stinger flew. At least 3 cars lengths by the time I got to 100. Needless to say, got a AFE Intake, Whipple IC and a 93 tune waiting for me at Palm Beach Dyno. Just waiting on the IC to come in. Hoping for some serious gains.

With a bone stock Stinger that looks about right. Not a lot up top, Kia choked the car off with the stock intake setup so past 100, it'll move but intakes can make a world of difference. You should find an open road with that guy and see what happens. I've run a couple of STs on a roll but not a dig.

Looks tuned, but unmodded at least exhaust-wise. Maybe an intake. It's the gearing that kills the kia top-end intake is a problem too but not as bad. The 10speed on the ST just pulls in every gear. A Tuned ST unmodded can probably match a untuned stinger at highspeed roll. Once you get an intercooler/intake and stage 4 tune they make over 400whp and the 10speed is probably the best transmission for rolls as it's always in peak boost when tuned, you would really need at least a tuned GT to keep up. Op says he runs a 4flat 0-60 which is faster then a tuned stinger gt which are usually low 4's but not 4flat vs a stock 4.7/4.8.

We love to see another ST causing problems on the street 👍 Would love to see how that LMS tune handles some dig racing

Hoping to hit a track soon. Dragy says 4.0 0-60MPH and a 12.2 quarter mile in cooler temps. I'd like to do quarter mile but most tracks in DFW are only 1/8.

You wouldn't expect this from a ford edge sport either. Lol. I used to surprise the heck of out of people with about 410 whp from upgraded turbos, intercooler, and a zfg racing tune. I now have a Stinger Gt. Gotta say my edge would still take it due to the bigger turbos I upgraded to, even with the jb4 in my Stinger GT. The Stinger looks better for sure and feels sportier than a family suv. But I am told the Stinger is a family sedan anyway. Considering I have no family I guess I am an odd ball. lol. Just wanted a fast suv at the time.

Yeah, everytime I got my front end by him he would take off so I just went for it lol. I've found I lose some in the mid highway speeds and then pull hard in the top end again. Probably a gearing issue.

Man the hate is strong against the ST from the Kia community lol. This is why I do what I do.

Not stock. My ST runs 11's, stock stingers are 13 flat. I can walk stock ones with little effort.

Wish my car was ceramic silver. Best color on a Stinger imo 👍. As the owner of a Ford ⚡ I'm all for sporty trucks/SUVs but I think the front end of the new Ford Explorer does not look good. Something about how the headlights look is off.

@@user-hs2wu2br47q I coulda got any stinger when I bought mine as long as it was white, black or panthera metal. I wanted ceramic silver, then micro blue, then red. Couldn't find not one in those colors. I did find one indigo blue but they wanted too much. Went with panthera metal.

Cool man. Nice work keeping up. Stock Stinger GTs run a 60-130mph in about 15 seconds. Mildly tuned, it's around 12ish. My 2019 Stinger GT has a few bolt ons, E30 and a JB4. Last 60-130 I recorded on Dragy was 10.25 seconds. 392 Scat packs hate me. 😂

Yeah I have a video on here of a 14.5 sec. 60-130 on the dragy. I'm really impressed with the 3.0TT ecoboost platform, it's a lot of fun. The stinger gt is another one that loves tuning and bolt-ons. It's impressive the power boosted V6s can make these days and still be practical and comfortable to drive every day. I hear you on the scat packs, they're one of my favorites to pick on. I have a "LOL @ SRT" sticker on my back window just to provoke them to try lol.

I was just able to top speed my Stinger along with a 2021 Charger SRT and had him by 4 to 6 car lengths at top speed.it was cool out around 50 degrees--on a 5 mile straightaway.The Stinger dipped into the low 170s before the computer brought it back to 165 mph which is what i kept--buddy in charger basically said his car sat also at about 160 to 165--there were heavy crosswinds.The turbos really make a diffrence on a cool day.The stinger can go faster then 167--but I doubt you could run it with both turbos spooling at full psi without overheating at some point unless it was cold out.The stinger is much better aerodynamically then a ST explorer and also better and lighter then a charger.The explorer ST and the charger are literally sqyares which is the worst shape to top end--I am sure the aerodynamics is also causing these to be slower.Reason I could not keep 167 was the stinger once full boost was going would literally slam into the governor--both cars were doing 165 at round 6k RPM--fuel mileage for my stinger was 13.9 average speed 154 mph--charger was at 10 MPG at 150 MPH even for an average over about 5 miles--we started from about 70 MPH--at about 120 the stinger was pulling a car length each 10 mph until it just sat several car lengths ahead--my freind said charger did not appear to have a governor--it just ran out of steam at 165.I also forgot to switch into sport so i ran this in comfort.Both of us had 94 octane fuel.I have a str8 exhaust no muffler and KIA reset the comp--charger was stock.I paid 36k for my 2020 AWD stinger and buddy paid almost 20k more--55k for the charger.

@@khronin Stinger is governed at 167MPH from the factory, chances are because of the speed rating on the factory tires. It's a quick car no doubt, and they love mods. If the intercooler and oiling system on the car is sufficient you can sit at peak boost without worry, this is why my intercooler upgrade was my first mod. It's true the explorer has a higher profile but it is also very round so I would say the aerodynamics aren't horrible for a large vehicle. I'm going to doubt the fuel economy at 6000 rpm at wide open. I've never seen anything get double digit mpg at WOT especially while in boost. Also not sure where to get 94 octane. I'm assuming a typo and you meant 93, that's also what I'm running for fuel. Either way I'm impressed with the ST and what it can do for what it is and I'm equally impressed with the stinger as it's kias first attempt at a rwd sport sedan.

@@BlackSheepRacing88 No we have 94 octane a mile from me in north GA at racetrac--and the fuel mileage was started when we started and we went 70 to 80 for the first mile till we could see.Ok we will see if you can stay at 165 or more with that tranny.My Stinger is my daily driver and I am only doing mods that keep the warranty.The 3.3 engine was able to keep about 160 without boost once up to that speed--I would punch it just to stay ahead of the charger and it would hit the governor.

@@khronin Still confused about what speed has to do with transmission reliability. As an ex ASE certified master tech with manufacturer certs for GM, Ford, Hyundai, and Mazda and formal training through UTI in automotive, heavy duty diesel, and high performance and making a living in the field for over a decade well enough to be my households only form of income I've never heard of it being rated this way. To expel my ignorance please explain how that works. The ST is my daily as well which is why ive only done a tune and intercooler so far. The tuner I chose is an ecoboost specialist and their tune won't leave a watermark on the ECU/TCM if you put the stock tune back in for warranty work. Also curious how you got it into the 170s with the stock speed limiter still active. Modern computers in vehicles are very fast and wouldn't let you exceed the setting at all, there not like the mechanical limiters where you could maybe get away with am extra 5 mph here and there.

True, I see this particular car frequently on my way home from work and we've played around (with no real usuable footage unfortunately) many times and they're so closely matched its insane. The ST does pull in the top end just slightly but the stinger seems to spool just a hair faster on the hit.

If only there was an actual race instead of just taking turns weaving through traffic.

The Stinger did not use sport mode for some reason ? how do I know this because I have the 2022 GT and when you put it in sport it harden up and will not bounce like that Stinger and if you look at a stinger exhaust the outer pipes open up in sports and are closed in other modes so if you see a stinger floating they in comfort mode and are just chilling but if you see them stiffening up there ready to play :) same for most new performance cars of today thats how I tell when People want to play just for fun you know :) surprisingly it is mostly 4X4's trying to race me lol

There's a handful of explorers faster than mine, I've barely scratched the surface of the 3.0 ecoboost platform. Plenty of SUVs making well over 500HP these days. In a straight line an SUV is just as stable as a sedan so idk how you figured I was lucky to not go off the road. I've had it up to 160 and it's plenty stable as long as the road is smooth and straight. The video shows what it shows and there's other STs going just as fast so I don't understand all the comments saying it can't do what the video shows it doing.

@@BlackSheepRacing88 You are not going to do many 160s in the long run with the stock tranny from Ford--btw before any comments--I have owned an SHO--and a saleen--both had bad reliability probelms..The ST is also on average 15k or more then a stinger--Ford designed this vehicle the ST to handle mid 140s as a top speed--the stingers tranny was made to handle 170--big diffrence in the top speed these will be able to hold--I ran 5 miles with a 2021 charger--heavy crosswinds and had him by 4 to 6 car lengths,We did this on a closed public road and he shot a video of it I hope to get someday--he works for DHS so this is not something he is willing to post yet.Even the mustangs with the 10 speed run out of steam in the low to mid 160 range.

Yet an explore ST could beat an Acura TLX s type, plus the Drag coefficient is basically the same on both vehicle. The ST has more hp and torque numbers, and the stinger isn’t that much lighter. Kia stinger is more about corners. I’m not sure why all the reviewers were hyping it up, I just ignore people when they want to race, that’s not what the car was made for, plus I hate other stinger drivers they are way too snobby lmao

The scorpion has zero performance gains over the regular GT so i promise you my ST would walk away. 0-60 in 4.8 sec when I do a 4.0. 1/4 mile in 12.8 when I do a 12.2. Don't judge a vehicle just because it doesn't look like a sports car. There's a lot of SUVs faster than a stinger right off the factory floor.

Keyword "Stock".. Stingers that even just with tcu/ecu mapping are running mid 3s and with bolt ons are running nearly low 3s. They're Breaking into the 10s in the quarter mile now as well.

I never claimed to be faster than all Kia Stingers. I have 1000 more lbs of weight, far less aerodynamic, and less displacement. So it would naturally be harder for me to go as fast. I simply posted a video of my 3 row SUV chasing a "sports car" with simply a 93 octane tune and bigger intercooler. You made the claim that he would have dusted me when the video clearly shows otherwise. So the "if it was modified" theory could go either way, there's a lot more aftermarket for the ST as well and then it just becomes bench racing.

Stinger runs a 12.9 stock, I run an 11.8. It is true the ST runs a 13.5 stock and the stinger would take it off the showroom floor but the fact that he got the jump and I was starting to slowly reel him in at the end before traffic ended the run shows mine with a tune is faster.

True, and I like the stinger as well. It was actually my first choice if I didn't need 3rd row seating for my family. But the ST is impressive for a sub $60k vehicle to keep up with almost $100k trackhawks and durangos with a couple grand in aftermarket, especially using less than half the displacement as well. It also got 28mpg average over a 900 mile interstate road trip fully loaded with people and luggage.

There is a time and a place, but not on public highways to drive like this. You might be a great driver but it just takes one poor driver to bring your world down. Stay safe!
