21 April all cows have to go! Keenan fun and STUCK bullock

Such a busy day today all stock moved off the farm completely ready for the jerseys to arrive, I HAVE to join RED tractor so paperwork paperwork paperwork, sheep being generally crazy a superb sunset from the field taking down to concrete forms where the manholes are looking at snazzy little touches on the gates.
in 2009 i had no experience of farming or the realities that came with it. That soon changed when I met my other half Roy, I had a job as a carer and in every spare moment threw myself into farming. I had only ever driven a Nissan Micra and had experience with horses, I learnt the hard way as nobody had the time to show me and soon after arriving I found myself mothering on calves to three quarter bred limmy cows. We spent every available moment on the farm between our day jobs. Fast forward to 2016 two children later we moved into our very own farm overlooking the northern Pennines, Laitha.
we are in a transitional period at present and will finally be milking cows and making the final switch later this year, after years of planning and implementing infrastructure we will be milking 120 Jersey cows on two Lely robots. This will be a huge change and a steep learning curve
I will be taking you all along for the ride so hit that subscribe button and see you every other day for farming vlogs.
I am overjoyed to be a farmer. I feel so fortunate every day to wake up and do what I love and even better share it with the world and hope it inspires more young people from Preston to spread their wings and think outside the box the world doesn’t need more childcare workers or hairdressers it needs more farmers.

Can't imagine you use any HPCIAs at all, probably not many antibiotics overall. I did a bit of work for AHDB during my PhD going round beef and sheep farms and looking at their medicine books and it'd be a very rare day indeed if i saw any HPCIAs. Re: the vet's role in this, yeah you're right it's the vet's job to know these things and to know what any knock on effects on the client's farm assurance status is but some of them are pretty set in their ways. I'm sure the paperwork is a ballache, if we had decent integration where farm, vet, supplier, farm assurance etc systems all talk to eachother properly then things would be so much easier.

So Red Tractor is as many say little to do with food safety but whether you comply with items similar to the Factories Act or Health and Safety to visitors. How do two people manage a business over many acres and comply with all this? Stay as you are as your box ticking exercise will cost as much as loss on disposables but you will have a less fraught time together and your partnership is what makes it work!

I'm not farm assured but other farmers say that you get more money for your store animals at market. As some buyers only by from farm assured holdings.I haven't noticed any difference in price, considering you have to pay to be in the scheme. I've had letters from the finishers saying they are losing out on money because i'm not farm assured. As they get a premium on farm assured animals.
